Realize MSU was a few missed FTs and a few no-calls from beating PU in EL. And MSU just played 3 days ago. I think most B1G teams are at the same level. Purdue seems to be a little bit better. Michigan lost by 22 today to PSU and was within 5 against PU. I don't think PU is invincible. But based on all the mediocrity or parity, you can probably win it all with being just that much better.
It's tough to win on the road in the B10. Or anywhere on the road in college basketball with 19 year olds. Purdue is 6-0 on the road in the B10. And yea a lot of those games were very close - unless it was against Minnesota who is a D2 team. There's a reason they say in order to win on the road in college basketball you have to win by 11 in order to win by 1. If you lose at home you can't say "if only we got 1 more call". You always get 1 more call at home! Just like the home team for Purdue got 1 more call today. Home court is such a ridiculous advantage. Look at Oklahoma beating Alabama at home by 30 yesterday. That could NEVER happen on a neutral court let alone in a road game at Alabama. Unfortunately there's no moral victories at home. If you lose at home you were outplayed. You got the extra call, you had your own baskets, you had your crowd noise, you know every inch of the floor, how the rims function. It really is true you need to win by 11 at home to actually feel like you won by 1. The biggest shock is purdue lost at home, albeit by 1, to Rutgers. Purdue didn't play well but I did not think they would lose a single home game this year.
@@YTSparty Also, in that particular game, there's no way you can say "if only" when little tyson Walker dropped a 30 spot on a good purdue defense - there was no chance that ever happens again
Pretty easy to look at film and determine if there were 3 seconds that went uncalled. I thought Zach was extremely mindful of stepping out of the paint.
Put it more together Tom.this team better than its record and play.those body 7 footers in the past helped this team in the past.odd you didn't see it that way this year.
@Charlie Greer Based on the results of every other team in America, Purdue certainly looks the part of a Final 4 team. Whether or not that happens is to be determined. Regardless, Purdue is not a flame out type of team right now. People just need to except that. The tournament is a crap shoot and based on what Purdue has done so far this year, they are the best team in the nation. Every team has their struggles or concerns. Purdue just has less of that right now.
The problem with Edey is that he just makes a natural movement and he moves people. If the guys he was facing were his size, he'd be stopped or have resistance, instead he just plows thru. It's frustrating because if you aren't as big as him, there's not much you can do to draw an offensive foul. Once he's under the net with the basketball, you just hope he misses. There's not much u can do. You whack at the ball and you get the foul. Typically with a guy the size of Edey, he misses a lot of shots. But this guy has good hands besides being a giant.
I love Izzo, have since the beginning. But, the issue is he is losing the recruiting battle because of his antiquated system which brought him success 15-20 years ago. When you put yourself in a position of having to play Joey Hauser for 30+ minutes a game, you are always going to be way behind the contenders. The reality is, this team is filled with "try hard" pretenders, which is slightly above average at best. His system is designed for 2-3 star player development over 3 or 4 years. Given this, I don't see him contending for a Big Ten Title, and most certainly not another National Championship.
Appreciate what he said about Purdue coaching to roles evidenced by Furst
Izzo is a great coach! and I am a Purdue Boilermaker. Lots of respect here for Izzo.
If Izzo can't figure out a way to stop Edey, I don't think anyone else will. They sure looked like a final four team today.
I think the main issue is that we didn't have nobody to stop Edey. Mady just couldn't do it
not many teams can stop edey

Yeah there were a few times he camped out and it was borderline 3 seconds. But nothing really obvious. He did seem to move out with intention.

Good luck to Purdue the rest of the season. Edey is a special player and the Boilers have all of the pieces to win the national championship.
Purdue will flame out before the elite 8 like they always do.

Better put I together Tom .not that I think you haven't mostly . Yet this team can be much better than they play or their record shows even.
Much classier interview today by Izzo. Not as many sour grapes. Came for some drama. Disappointing.
Izzo's making a habit of attending a lot of funerals lately isn't he?
Should've went TO ZONE
What was that comment?
Toss it up anywhere north of the equator and that monster is going to go get it?
A pretty accurate comment lol. What?

Love how he like to criticize the refs but his guys fouled Edey EVERY time edey went up. Bloody lip to prove it.

He played another guy that was 7-4 this year and scored over 20 on him. Give credit to his footwork too.

Didn't hear him make excuses or complain. In fact he opened with how MSU played the worst defense of the year.
He didn't?
