    Another difference is bait positioning ie - or / or \ or | these represent the bait position as it suspends, falls or rises. Great video on jerkbaits 👍

    The lucky craft pointer is as close to a true suspending jerk bait there is.

      I’ve had good results with the pointer too as far as suspending. Of course results vary with water temp and line, but overall it does well for me. I’ve been getting similar results with the lightning pointer.

    I've actually replaced my flukes with the jerkbait when largemouth are schooling. It seems to trigger the bigger fish and the hookup ratio is much better. I have a number of different colors, but the black/silver shadow rap 11 has been getting the job done for me.

    Hey Tyler,
    Big fan from DFW. What hooks are you replacing the Vision 1-10 with to make it sink instead of rise?
    Thanks

    I have two of the exact same rods one with mono for popper and small top water baits like little walking baits or little crawling baits and the other with flouro for my jerkbaits but depending on the jerkbait I’ll sometimes use the one with money for jerkbsits if they sit too. One down or or sinking then I’ll use the rod with mono! Also I had these jerkbaits that I loved during the summer I was catching them above deep grass and around docks but the jerkbait in the summer at so level but then now in the cold it sits nose down super far so I’m going to put it on a summer jerkbait box

    Nice! I like the suspend black/white jerkbaits in the Ohio spillways for saugeye in the colder weather if the grubs or blade baits are not working. Big Joshy swimbaits work also.

    I was in a BASS Feb tournament on Candlewood lake, along with FLW tournament, 250 boats. Mid summer, water was 80deg and the bite was tough.
    I pulled out a jerk bait and won the tournament with more than double the weight than 2nd place. When asked what was used, I said “ask my co-angler”, because you won’t believe me if I tell you.

    I keep three jerkbaits tied on all winter and although I know they get bit all year I prefer a fluke style bait when the water warms, hooking a 5+ bass in the warmer months on thin trebles is a recipe for disaster , especially since I fish a lot of grass lakes, last thing I need is a big girl taking my bait down into the weeds , most of the time I'm either going to bend the hooks out trying to keep it from running or its going to get it caught up in grass and lose it

    Tyler, I have two questions for you. First, when the water temperature is up, does it cause the jerk baits normally to rise and vice versa when the water is colder does it cause the jerk bait generally to sink. Secondly, what size and type of hooks do you use for vision 110 replacement?

    • @austinmannigel8611
      @austinmannigel8611 10 месяцев назад

      Think about it in terms of density. Water is most dense at 38 degrees Fahrenheit. Once you get lower it becomes less dense, for instance ice floats and lakes turnover and mix at 38 degrees. Therefore, your jerkbait is more likely to slowly rise the closer the temps are to 38 degrees because your bait is less dense compared to water temps. On the other hand, in really warm water the density is significantly less, so your jerkbait is more likely to slowly sink

    I just hate the fact a decent jerkbait runs $15 to $20 plus. Its crazy for a plug. They all trying to get to the vision status and the prices to match. And as the temp changes so does the buoyancy of the plugs.
