It seems God should have no needs, but the scripture reveals that He does have a need. He needed to create man to express Him (Genesis 1:26). God is invisible, but because He created man, He then could send His Son to become a man and express God to all those around Him. And He needed to become a man so that He can die for us and shed human blood to redeem us. But there is something more, in John 3:29-30 it says, "He who has the Bride is the Bridegroom;" referring to Jesus Christ as the Bridegroom. And one day he will come for His prepared Bride (Rev. 21:2; Eph. 5:24-27) which is His matured church that He is building today (Matt. 16:18). Even on a perosnal level, let me ask you, how did you hear the gospel? Did God speak to you from the heavens, or did He need a man (or a woman) to speak the gospel to you? It seems he needed a man, so even in this simple sense God has chosen to 'limit Himself' in order that we, as men, might cooperate with Him for His glory.

He came down to earth to die on the cross for 2 things. 1. To take out sins away and 2. so he could gain a bride (the Church).
