Why do foreigners love Japan and Asia? Before you say it, I am of Japanese descent
It's a very good question. As a foreigner that has lived in Asia for 15 years I may have some insight. I think that to begin with it is partially a media created image. Western media specifically that tends to portray Asia....and Japan in particular....as exotic, mysteries or as being if some type of higher standard. Be it in education, honour, attention to detail etc.....Of course these are all stereotypes. And after living in Asia for any length of time you start to realise that these are stereotypes. And to an extent an idealized version of Asians that is often presented to the West. A lot of it just total nonsense or at least exaggerated.
Now of course......some of it is based on reality too. The fantastic food, the genuinely different cultural practices and mind sets, as well as all the famous pop culture and brands that have come out of Asia. And of course out of Japan. Asian...and especially Japanese pop culture has become huge globally. Which is of course driving interest in Asia as a whole.
And the fact that most Asian countries generally don't engage in the type of military action against other countries that the rest of the world (the majority of the world) sees countries like America, UK, Russia etc doing in modern times also makes most people have a generally positive view of Asia and Asians.
And lastly, it's also just the standards of living and lifestyle that many find attractive. The great infrastructure, the safety, the public transportation, the health care systems etc.....dont under estimate the positive impression that has on many people. And thus makes them have a positive view of Asia and thus like Asia.
