Naggy Maggie here. 9:00 "xLODGen Resource - SSE Terrain Tamriel" is needed for generation, should be off else, AFAIK. Thanks for your settings, I would just click and wonder if I made things better or worse, and eventually give up
Thank you so much for making this! This is very helpful for new modders and clears up a lot of things. I feel that the LOD generation is a big issue that is very intimidating that keeps people from getting the game looking the best.
Thank you! I have been away from modding for close to 5 years, and during those years so much has changed not just with new mods, but also with new tools and new methods of modding. When I look at the modding scene now, there is honestly so much that has changed that I feel like a complete novice. These short little videos that you are putting out for lods, and for using xedit for conflicts have been a very good help. If I may, if you are looking for other topics to make helpful videos on, I think there are a lot of people who would benefit from videos on things like Synthesis, or Easy NPC, to name just a couple. I have found the instructions from both the Nexus pages and online to be extremely difficult to follow, and have still never been successful in understanding just how to make them work. Your step-by-step explanations are greatly needed! Another one is Root Builder and using a stock game, leaving your original game install in an untouched state, just like Wabbajack lists do. I think a lot of people would benefit from understanding these better. . . . . but regardless of whether you are able or even want to do such things, i am very thankful for what you have done!
For anyone looking for a good performance setting for the LOD levels, Lexy's LOTD Guide has an excellent performance setting that, like Biggie says, is geared torward 1080p monitors (Using 256 exclusively except for the 2048 LOD32 Levels)
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Finally a clear and cohesive explanation for all players that have been utterly left behind by amazing graphics shown on YT and not a clue how to make for themselves. Sorely missing info that you have started to explain here. I hope this gets shared everywhere so it becomes a 'go to'.
By the time I’ll be home from vacation I’ll be able to follow your guide for this and the others you’ve planned, I don’t think there could’ve been more perfect timing lmao. Cheers
Biggie kralju!!!! Really looking forward for other tutorials so I can play with NGVO! Specially cant wait for a grass cashe tutorial cause every single one I saw did not work for me :D
Grass lods are super easy now that ngio has been updated. Basically just run ngio pack the output in a 7zip install it as a mod then run texgen and click the grass lods settings same for dyndolod. Honestly though if you set up grass fade long enough it’s not that needed.
@@retraxlol yeah I understand the point of it but I'm not using that step either but I think it helps for lists that have a lot of mods altering stuff.
I guess you could set xlodgen to output files directly to a mod in the executable window, so they will automatically go always inside your xlodgen mod.
Hey biggie, thanks for the video! Have you tried using Lossless Scaling's LSFG for Skyrim? It likely won't play nicely with OBS without some fiddling as both use DXGI, but it's worked absolute wonders for my system with Nolvus (3090, 5800X3D, 32GB RAM).
I have a question. If i XLodgen my load order and thought I had setup the output to another location, only to find out that the generation went into the main game folder. Would I need to do a game reset Validation or is a specific Folder in "Meshes" and "Textures" that I can just delete. As this had screwed up my Flat Map Framework and has it working when I disable the Plugins but not working when they are enabled.
i’ve only just started modding skyrim and went straight to dyndolod thinking this handled all distant objects. I was wondering why grass and other terrain kind of pops or fades in whereas the trees and large structures were pretty solid. So am I correct in assuming it’s 3 separate lod generators that are used for everything?
Really the best Guide for xLODGen for skyrim ( i have see them all and your fall asleep by watching but not yours) .. have tried the first one today and it just works xD !!! and also i didnt know you have to overwrite Dyndolod ressource with the other mods, little thinks .. Please please make a guide for Fallout 4 when you have time xD
hey quick question: I don't have similar folders to you on MO2, I don't have a simple skyrim overhaul folder, any chance I could get help figuring out where mine is?
what if you have more than one textures installed? I have fantasia and cathedral landscapes (for the tundra), would it cause some issues or does it will only included textures that won the conflict in load order?

Yes you're right, lodgen resources should be turned off after lod generation.

There's a great map "A Clear Map of Skyrim and Other Worlds" on Nexus that can be combined with the xLodgen output

Thank you so much. This feels like one of the highest hurdle when it comes to modding. Appreciate the vid and your clear style/cadence.

This video is well needed. I never know when to run these and what settings to even use.
With everything I've got in my mod-list it took 32 minutes for a Ryzen 9 5950x to generate all these.
Biggie kralju!!!! Really looking forward for other tutorials so I can play with NGVO! Specially cant wait for a grass cashe tutorial cause every single one I saw did not work for me :D
Thanks! This is a good refresher for me.
Waiting for grass lod guide, so I can touch distant grass. Thank you for the guides.

@@a1racer441 That's what i have been doing on my lists. But tbh i don't know if the Ck step is that necessary

Very useful video, thanks biggie

SHould it be palced above or below "VramR_Output" in MO2?
When to use the Worldspace Transition Tweaks? is it during the Dyndolod stage? edit: choose between sse TT or WTT. you recommend SSE TT, okay thanks.

Same here
Will there be a guide for DynDOLOD as well?
Yea ;)

Only the conflicts that win have lods generated
@@biggie_boss
Thanks!
When I do this it keeps making my map really jagged and horrid and I’m not sure why, any insight there?
I recommend getting either flat maps or use A Clear Map of Skyrim
Before I watch this, is this only for 1.5?
Nope, all versions.
😂😂😂 thank you
No « tools » folder inside my MO2 folder…
Make one
