My grandson and I managed to get 20 tumbling Tom tomato seeds and poof beautiful hanging baskets!! He's 7 and saw your RUclips. Thank you
This makes my heart smile!❤
Hello from Arkansas. Thanks for telling me to prune my tomatoes. The 12 branch system. I forgot that one. Y'all have a super day.
Hello right back at ya!!
Happy 12 branching! 😉
Thanks Lady's for the great videos! I messed up the other day an snipped off my tomatoes top on my plant thinking it was a sucker.
Awe, that's okay, just let the next top sucker replace the one you snipped. We have done the same many times at the beginning. 😉
I must say that I really appreciate your videos and the detail you give in your explanations of how you do everything. I'm learning so much from you. I can't thank you enough. Please keep up the good job that you're doing
Thank you so much! I'm happy you are learning from them.
I love your videos! They have been such a great help to me! I don’t have a green house but I’m going to try growing my tomato’s like this this year. Every year is a battle for me with my tomato plants. It’s so humid here I think doing this even outdoors will help with air circulation. Thanks again!
Great video! 😊
Amazing job done ladies. Stay safe!
Thank you my friend! It was a scattered vid, but at least we picked up the camera lol. It was so great chatting with you two! Stay safe and well!
Hi from South Africa, my 2nd year planting tomatoes, as we in a complex, I do 10 x 15 litre tall containers for my tomatoes. Last year i only took a few suckers off but they get to a point that they are hard to managed, especially in a 15 litre pot but I landed up tying them to my upstairs neighbors balcony 😅. I will be switching it up this year by doing single stems this year and compare them to last years production. Thank you for the 12 branch advice, that sounds like consistency and will give it a go 😁.
May all of you have a blessed year of growing. Cheers
You guys are amazing! Hard working! I learned a lot too! Thanks 🙏
Thank you!
I'm trellising my indeterminate tomatoes this year. I put up 3 cables 10 feet high and about 25-28 feet in length. Should be getting the clips and roller hooks tomorrow. We have 67 plants 20 are supported in a Florida weave the rest will be on strings going vertical. Very enjoyable and informative channel 👍☀️🥕🍅🌶🥦🥒🥔🥬
You guys are awesome! Thanks for the education
love the longer videos
Im so happy I came by your channel! Great info always! Just amazing!
Thank you!!
Spring Hill Farms you’re most welcome!
Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Looks beautiful in there! ❤️
Awesome video !! Thank you for sharing !!
Such great information. I'm looking forward to growing some more productive tomatoes this growing season (Australia). Also super excited that suckers can become plants. I had no idea! Thanks!
greetings from Chicago
thank you for the videos
very informative
Love your videos. Everything in orders in your greenhouse👍
Do you top your peppers? Looking forward to the next one.
Take care and keep safe.
Thank you so much for the videos you produce. I have a 24 tomato plant trellis at home mimicking your methods. The small details you provide are so excellent: for example the way a plant is held to apply the clips. Again thank you!
Thank you for the kind words! All the best with your plants! Let us know how you make out! If you have any other questions, please ask!
U tomatos look awesome as usal. Amazing greenhouse
I had a friend named Deanna.....she hated it when we called her big😄🌱
Hahaha, for some reason I KNEW you were going to reply to this bahaha! Hope you had a fantastic growing and selling day my friend!
Good job
Thank you!
First like, love your videos !!!! From Bracebridge, ONT!!
Thank you!!! You're just around the corner! I have wonderful friends in Bracebridge who own a fantastic business!
Hello from Huntsville! :)
Hey!
Haili and I were just in Huntsville yesterday delivering to the Good Food Co-op!
Very impressive... How do you get so many roots established in a week on the transplanted tomato suckers
Thank you! It was actually just over a week, my mistake. We will show what we did in our next video 😉
very good 🍅👍️
Your tomato plants look absolutely wonderful. Since they are growing basically indoors, how do they get pollinated?
Thank you!
We use bumblebees to pollinate in early season. We are going to mention that in our next video.
Spring Hill Farms Thank you. Yes, please discuss that. Very interesting to learn.
Always enjoy your videos. How wide are the raised beds you are growing the tomatoes in, and how far apart are the plants?
Great setup. Would you do a similar thing with chillies? I've seen so many pictures of commercial growers with very tall straight plants.
When did you guys sow the cherry tomatoes? They are already fruiting, beautiful!
These seeds were sown in late February.
What do you do for pollination in the greenhouse? Thanks for another great video.!
we purchase Bumblebees in the earlier season when Natural pollinators aren't around.
How far is it from the plastic surface to the hanging wire???? love ya' vids and much thanks.
It's a 15" ceiling to center
Thanks for watching!😀
@@Growwiththelaplantes LOL, Sorry, I mean the black plastic, the top of the soil, lol I forgot about the roof - DOH!
Beautiful looking greenhouse ladies, can you kindly explain what nutrients you use and how you dispense.Thank you so much.
How many bunches of radishes do you get and what are the dimensions of the bed? Great video as always.
Great video! Thanks . Im curious, why do you use clips instead of just winding the plant around the string as it grows?
As the fruit gets heavier, the plants tend to slip down. These clips work great, but on a small scale you could use twine( loosely)
While not great for long term storage try Johnny's Sun Gold or Sun Peach variety of cherry tomatoes
They are amazingly delicious and prolific
Thanks for the video
SUN SUGAR...The Absolute Best Cherry Tomato I've Ever Tasted, Bar-None. I've Blind tested several varieties over the years, the SUN SUGAR was the overwhelming favorite, SUN GOLD is a close second. Every year it's my most requested variety.
I have one question, do you prune the plants to grow higher? I have been growing beefsteak tomatoes in hydro phonics and I pruned the suckers the first time around and cleaned up the bottom of the plant, thinking it would give more fruit. The one thing it did was just shoot up to the ceiling. Lol.
This time around I didn't prune nothing and the plants are thriving with 3 times as much fruit, the suckers are producing amazingly. So, I don't know but should I prune or no? I agree with pruning , it's a ton of common sense, for sure, but I don't want to miss out on a plant that can really thrive and produce. The one problem I have is the height of the plant, I can't have them grow taller than 7ft because I have an indoor garden, I dedicated a small room to my indoor garden.
Let me know your thoughts, I would appreciate it. Love you guys and I'm definitely a fan!
great video! does the 12 branch method applies to all kinds of tomatoes or just for cherry tomatoes? thanks
Is it ok to do the lower and lean with all types of cherry tomatoes? I keep hearing from people that pruning cherries should not be done. Whst's your opinion on that? It's my first time using a string trellis and so far I've been getting lots of tomatoes!
Hi! I planted my tomatoes about a week ago. I noticed now they have some buds on them (not flowered yet). Do I pinch those buds out or just keep them on? Thanks!
Keep them on! Yay!!
Wait! One week from seed, and they have buds?? Or do you mean leaves starting?
@@Growwiththelaplantes
They are transplant tomatoes that I started from seeds back in March. They do have a few leaves with little flower buds on them, but hasn’t opened up yet. I’m not sure if I should take the buds off, just like I hear people do with peppers.
are the glove used to protect the farmer or the plants ? I've never used glove in my garden
We use gloves to keep all the tomato pollen off. When you are working with hundreds of tomato plants, it's like working in green clay at the end of the day. Lol
What do you guys do for pollination? Especially inside a greenhouse.
I checked my tomato plants and I saw that they have flowers on the suckers, what should I do? Pluck it off and hope it's going to grow more on the main stem?
Is this your first year growing Big Dina?
Yes it is. Have you grown them?
Sharing!
Can you please tell me what are clips you used for tying tomato plants to strings
Where will I get them
Hello love your channel. Very informative. I am venturing into hydroponics farming from my boring 9 to 6 job. I wanted to know how many Kilograms of tomatoes can be grown in a 2000sqm hydroponics setup (polyhouse) or cucumbers in a same area average In a month or year given a 1.5 cycle per year. I am doing a feasibility study before I setup the farm and checking with other farmers if the numbers check out. Looking forward for your response. Thanks
Mam great work
Have you considered using the qlipr system instead of the tomahook?
No we have not but they look VERY interesting. I just went and looked them up. Have you tried them? If so, tell me about them!
@@Growwiththelaplantes I have not tried them. It looks like the system only uses 2 clips per plant and a metal rod with a string tied to the bottom. I see that Connor Crickmore uses them at Neversink farms. It looks like your ceiling is pretty high. I was considering just buying the clips and making my own metal rods out of automotive brake line so I can make longer rods. Thank you by the way for all of the information that you share. I love your videos and Use your farm as a model since I'm in western NY and have similar growing conditions and weather.
Do you grow determinate tomatoes in your tunnels? If so, do you handle them differently?
Do the johnys bigdena grow outside of the green house?
They will be grown in a greenhouse. You can grow pretty much any tomato outdoors, but all do better covered from the elements.
Is 12 branch system only for cherry tamotoes ?,
Iam growing heirlooms first time so just a question ?
Do you let these tomato plants grow as tall as they want to, or do you top them at some point?
I would love to see a video on how you take the cuttings of the cherry tomatoes and pot them up.
We will show you on one of our next videos.
@@Growwiththelaplantes Whats the spacing between the tomato ?
What temperature do you keep the greenhouse at?
We keep the greenhouse at 60 degrees through the night and 70 degrees through daytime.
@@Growwiththelaplantes Thank You! 😎
I feel like the production with this method would result in fewer fruit per plant. Is is more of a space savings measure or do you get more production from a plant when you trellis?
Growing tomato plants in close vertical quarters is both space saving and higher yield (indeterminates will grow until they can't anymore so the more footage you can get off of them the more fruit you will get) plus by trellising and pruning you're maintaining the health of the plant and the fruit (by limiting many dirt/ground born diseases and pests). Hope I answered that well 😊.
You certainly did answer that well! Thank you!
where do you buy your ground cover fabric 4' x250' long or4'x300' thank you
Where do you buy the tomato clips from?
Don’t you think that two stem system rather than single stem produce more yield ?
Is the High tunnel heated?
Thanks
yaw are pros they look awesome....
Thanks🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
How deep should soil for tomatoes be?
We grew ours in 6" deep raised beds, spaced 1" apart. Worked very well
What size is your greenhouse?
How far apart are you tomatoe plants?
We plant tomatoes 18" apart.
do you drop and lean beefstake tomatoes too?
yes we do!
just the indeterminate varieties
yes, only indeterminate
How high is your greenhouse
15 '
That's big and how high is the bar that you hang your trellas from
I wish I could clone you two. I have 200 acres to play with but nobody gets excited about it like I do around here. The guys are more about livestock and all my girls have grown up and have their own deals going on. Sigh......(I have acouple acres planted in the open and its super hot now so I guess I dont blame them Lol)
If I may ask.... why do you and Hailey ware gloves?
Wearing gloves just helps keeping our hands cleaner! Pruning tomatoes especially is not nice to the hands😜
Thanks for watching! -H
Oh, gotcha! Thx ladies!😁 I'm going to try and keep my plants at 12 branches.
It really does work!
Hello
I am from India and I love your farm.

This video is a great example of how tedious agriculture can be. So why the gloves? Also I read that suckers should only be removed from indeterminate plants. Thanks!
Thank you! Yes, it can be tedious but we love our job! We are wearing gloves because trying to clean the tomato pollen off is a nightmare when dealing with so many plants. Gloves are a lifesaver in the tomato house!😉
Yes, these are indeterminate plants.
Are you sure? It seems your daughter doesn't agree with you.
