The parents are to blame in this. He obviously shouldn’t be left home alone. And even if they had no other option, they should have talked to op to figure something out or mitigate the damage.
I agree that the authorities should have been called on these neglectful parents so it was the right thing to do. I also think it should be said that autism and Down syndrome are two different diagnoses with different sets of symptoms for individuals and should not be used interchangeably. Also, Down syndrome debilitates a person's muscle development up to the point that an individual may need medical assistance to overcome their developmental delays like strength exercises to breathe fully. I believe that the "physically enhanced" trait that many people think comes from being developmentally delayed in life is really just the person using his or her unbridled strength without considerations. These considerations can include their own health and safety.
They're going to sue because OP allowed it to happen, failed to install super impenetrable force fields around the property, and even went so far as to give their precious son permission to rampage around and harass the dangerous vicious dogs

The parents are definitely to blame for this. They should have taken better care of their son.

Being autistic myself, you did the right thing.

And they are going to loose because op has video evidence of their son breaking in and manhandling the dogs.
Was the dog taken to the vet and checked out though? That would be my main concern after checking the kiddo out.
