I'm in the West country buddy and there's been loads of sightings of quite a few things from big cat's to cryptids..I've spotted a few things myself by accident. My brother in law walking his dog in the forest saw what he described as a black leopard in the distance in front of him so he turned around picked the dog up and went back to his car 😂. That knocking is your classic Sasquatch knock or someone also camping trying to attract them.

1991, I was wild camping in the Peak District. Id walked across Ladybower Dam, then up through a steep thick pine forest, the up the side to Bamford Edge. I eventually got to a wall 90 minutes later. I had something quick to eat then got inside a large Gortex bivi bag. In the middle of the night something woke me... i heard heavy foot steps. They stopped for a few seconds, then carried on.
1982, I was camping again about 20 yrds from the banks of the River Trent miles from anywhere. In the morning, i had a walk to the riverbank itself. In the fresh mud was a huge deep footprint. It mustve been at least size 15, as i was an 11 at the time, and it was miles longe than my boot. It was the only footprint there, on it's own.... just one made it feel real creepy as to put it there, he would had to be 8-9 ft tall to stretch to the mud from the bank..

It's not an if but a definite .. We do have big cats in the UK it's been proven now that most including the beast of Exmoor were/are either escaped or abandoned exotic pets from Black panthers, Cougars and now more commonly Servals, Caracals and I believe one Ocelot ... especially in large wooden areas and the moors with vast unpopulated ground and prey in abundance from small furries(and no I'm not including those that identify as 😬😆) birds, deer and the odd sheep they've adapted nicely and are very illusive. So, it wouldn't surprise me...might be worth taking a couple of trail cams with you just to see what you possibly could capture especially while your asleep 😴

I've experienced the tree knocks at night about 20 ft in front of me, with eyeshine at human height when I turned my headtorch in the direction of the knocking. I couldn't make out anything apart from the eyes, thank God. I was with someone else and we had a tent set up. We could hear this thing pacing us through the undergrowth when we decided to head for the tent. That was it for us, we turned tail and headed for the car and took off like a bat out of hell. This is in Scotland.

I've just seen your channel for first time, very interesting, I'm in North Yorkshire, east coast, we have history of big cats in this neck of the woods and yes allways by the sheep farmer and his land and the sightings are also next to houses but only because that land was sold for the expanding population where as prior to that it was just land that became over grazed by sheep and cattle, but the big black cat was identified by locals and farm workers that know the difference between a big cat and a sheep. Regarding your noises through the night maybe pest controll that is contracted for that area and has night hours at set times of the season, they can be there from dusk well into the night and quite often work in pairs but well camouflaged, they just don't warn you that they are there, they just get on with the job well into the night. Stay safe, but enjoy your quest too.

Those banging noises made me think of Sasquatch! I HAVE heard that they can be in the UK or anywhere in the world, not just in North America... And they are said to be able to move between dimensions too, so that may explain why Carl didn't see anything? Did you have your night vision binoculars or camera with you? It didn't seem like it. Perhaps that would have shown more?... Perhaps next time...

Yeah, they also mimic owls and other wildlife. They are bipedal, walking on two legs. I've been studying them in the New Forest for the past decade. They haven't been a threat to me just fascinating. They have a gift of being able to see in the dark where as with humans we need a torch. Don't let it put you off because we have as much natural right to be in the woods as they do. Wish I was there 👍

    • @ness-ee

Weird thing happened on today’s wood walk. Six trees had been flattened. The biggest animal in those woods is a buck roe deer, but I did see signs of an escaped cow a couple of months back in another part. There was no cow sign near these trees. There was also a tree blocking a path. It hadn’t been uprooted. It was like someone had moved a tree trunk from somewhere else. It would have taken 6-8 men to do that.
Also one of my dogs went completely mental a couple of months back. Hackles raised and barking, which is really unlike her. The other dog was oblivious to anything. I couldn’t see anything, but maybe she saw the cow or was reacting to a plane going overhead. The thing is that she hasn’t reacted to any other planes. Normally if she sees something moving in the trees she goes after it. Her nose is better than the other dog’s. Maybe she smelled something she didn’t like.
I used to do night walking in woods near Dartmoor. You don’t always need a torch. In fact you’re discouraged from using one.

That knock was deffo deliberate, although I don't subscribe to the UK bigfoot idea myself. As for the big cats, I'm convinved we have a number of them loose in our countryside. I actually touched on the subject a few years back on an overnighter. I'm in Norfolk, & East Anglia has had a fair few reports over the years. To catch one on camera while out on an overnighter would be epic

From the audio the knocking sounded like US Bigfoot, but no, I never heard we have anything at all like that here. In my late teens with a friend we spent every Friday night out in the woods and found it fun, but to be honest although noises can freak you, the only real danger in this country could be other people who aren't so good to meet. So as other comments say, I'd always have some kind of weapon to use as last resort, though never really expecting to. And always within reach *without* being in a mummy bag with no arms free if something's going on. Lol talking of being freaked out, I went hiking solo behind the Teton Range in Wyoming USA once, the first person in the season to go. What I could have done without was the Park Ranger's farewell, meant seriously: "The grizzlies are coming out of hibernation now, so if you see one please do let us know when you get back." Woke up in the morning and didn't want to look outside my tent! I *was* stalked by one once in Montana in the forest, night, and snow -- it kept crossing my own footprints just 4-5 minutes afterwards. But it left me alone. (Sorry for the off-topic.)

I've seen the photographs (theres more than one) of the big cat your talking about in the video, where the gamekeeper is holding it up by the tail. Through work I used to visit the gamekeeper who laid the snares and caught it. At this time he was now retired, and living in Gravesend. That cat was indeed well over six feet long, although stretched out in the photos.
I mentioned this to Neil Arnold who runs a Big Cat Forum and is a known authority on the subject, he knew of the incident, and also had a similar picture with the same guys in the picture but the dead cat hanging over a low tree branch. I was quite amazed to hear you mention it in the video, as your description is 100% correct, and it's the first time I've heard It mentioned for aprox ten years.

@welcome 2 the woods UK Absolutely, something I learned from my father and other training inputs in my life - your weapon must always be within arms reach. Just remember to employ proper safety procedures if you have tools next to you whilst you sleep.
Also, the birds making noise suddenly in the dark is a sure indicator they feel overly threatened. Birds will normally stay silent when something is below them on the forest floor etc.
There are wildcats in the UK (wolves now in Scotland too). Try and plot your position here on a map and then do some investigation into other sightings in the local area snd elsewhere. You might notice a pattern emerging.
I kind of hope it waw just an animal and not a human. I'd be more alarmed encountering a human out in the sticks in the dark who appears to be just wondering around as that isn't exactly 'normal'. Doesn't mean they're doing anything wrong either, but I hope you get what I am saying.
This is all probably a one off. Stay safe. ATB. 👍🏻

I’ve encountered European Lynx four times at very close range - 15-25 metres - near Shepton Mallet in Somerset. My son observed a very large, sandy coloured big cat for ten minutes just after dawn, hunting along a hedge line near my home. He estimated a body length of four to five feet, comparing it to fixed ground features. I’ve had ‘something’ growl at me from a bush in broad daylight that most certainly wasn’t a dog. Some years ago in Somerset we went for a walk with our Springer when it went ballistic. This happened in and off for an hour and when we retraced our steps - on muddy ground - we found large pug marks imprinted OVER our tracks. I’ve found a number of dead sheep that look as if a grenade has gone off inside their bodies - not a typical fox, dog or badger kill. There’s certainly something out there and it’s only when you fly over the south west that you really appreciate how little man encroaches on the countryside. So long as the main food source of these ‘cats’ are small mammals and game, rather than cattle, horses and pets, people tend to not to notice or ignore them.

Im in Australia (western Australia) we all had no idea what the hell it was.

      They're masters of blending in.
Humans are ignorant sometimes to how highly adapted the real preditors are hundreds of years of practice.

It could possibly be something else much larger than a mountain lion.
You have lots of forests out there, just because they're not as much as another country doesn't mean you can't have Cryptids and other things in your woods.
Think Dogman or possibly Bigfoot never know.
What mountain lion do you know that can swing a branch to hit a tree to make all those noises 🤔. I haven't heard of any animals that can pick up a branch and swing it or even pick something up and throw it. Just saying watch out!
You best have protection out there.
