My late ex-husband and I actually "smuggled" a bottle of champaign and 2 glasses into the Midtfyns Festival, because we both loved Afzelius' music and this was "our" song!!! Everyone smiled at us, when we sat down and opened that bottle of champaign! Wonderful day, I'll never forget!!!
LOL it's so funny that people don't know of the songs being covers! anne linnet is the Original song and music. and its 100% better then his cover of that song.
It was an incredible experience to play this song as an encore, and for the first time live, in front of a Danish audience of 65.000 people. We recorded the song a few weeks later, and I think it made Björn one of the most played artists in Scandinavia, and won him a Danish grammy for best singer. Frederik Adlers
To the guys asking about the subtitles. It's from Danish TV coverage of a Danish festival that unfortunately doesn't exist anymore. You also need to remember that it's originally a Danish song, so a lot of people will always remember that as the "real one" here even though we also know Björn's version. You can also hear him switch to the Danish lyrics at the end. From his Wiki page: ""Tusen bitar" (Thousand pieces - which was originally recorded by Danish Anne Linnet as "Tusind Stykker")" It's not uncommon to hear the Swedish version on the radio here in Denmark. It's probably played just as much as Anne Linnet's original, but since Anne's was out first, there's obviously going to be a "This is the real one" feeling about it. He took a song that was already well known in Denmark and managed to make a cover that became just as loved as the original, which is a rare achievement. Most covers never come close.. Especially if they're in a different language. :)
And the two languages are very similar as well - mutually intelligible to a high degree with a bit of focus and clear speech - 85 % of the words are the "same" - and the grammars are also very similar mostly - , the Swedes just pronounce the words in weird ways and are rather poor at spelling them. 😂
Unfortunately this video is recorded in a very bad quality - if anyone has a better recording from the festival - PLEASE put it here on RUclips!!! Thanks in advance, as we (the polite ones) say in Danish!
I understand completely, but for 1989 vintage home taped video from TV it is actually pretty damn good! My guess is it is VHS SP - so it is a miracle it was stil playable in 2008. Sure, you can do a lot of post-processing if you have the equipment. Most of us don't! Even fewer did in 2008. All we can hope for is that it is broadcast again - the original tapes should be safe in the station's vaults. Meanwhile a warm thank you to the uploader for sharing this precious memory.
It's impossible to dislike this humble guy. One of the true gems.

But a little stupid with the danish text underneath - if you don't understand swedish, why listen to it?
hard to explain, sometimes you feel like you belong to a song where you only can understand a line or two. Biorhythms...
Because 1. It's in Denmark and 2. It's a Danish song from the beginning.. Now sit down and shut the fuck up.
