Oh, I thought you went there, then looked for a cabin, until you found a property you liked, then once you found what you liked, then bought your property. So you went there already having bought the property, and upon arrival met the previous owners and got the keys to your new property. So did you make an initial trip there first in search of viewing properties before packing up and making the trip? If so, how long was it before you found your property? A few days, a week, two weeks? That was one heck of a trip going there! You are very brave to leave so much behind, and start over! Kudos! to you - awesome! Wow! I'm impressed!
Hello Charlotte! I have been looking for property off and on for many years. One of my daily "fun things" to do was search Zillow. I actually went to Alaska to walk this property only because I didn't want to buy it based on the pictures in Zillow. I just called the owners to take a look at it. I didn't have a realtor yet. I may have walked the property for about 20 minutes when I put an offer for full asking price. My original plan was to buy a cabin and just go up to Alaska 2-3 times a year to make sure it was ok, fix up a little here and there and just vacation there. But after I bought it, everything happened to just push me to go now. And so I did. I actually managed to get passage on the very last ferry ride from Washington to Alaska! Once I arrived, I basically had 3-4 weeks to get ready for winter! It has all been fun so far! Some scary times with my roof over the winter but all worth it! Thank you so much Charlotte! And thank you for the compliments! 🧡
That was a tear-jerker moment for me when you turned into the driveway. Reminds me of when I bought this place and my mom was already inside cleaning (I was coming from 3 hours away). She had a beautiful welcome sign and other things too. Damn, I miss my Mom.

I'm sure glad that trip is over, lol. I'm not one for traveling except in Alaska. I've been out of Alaska twice in the last 30 years and that's enough. Welcome home.

Hello Fellow Alaskan 💕 I have been watching some of your videos, (haven't gotten them all in yet) but enjoying them. Welcome to the most beautiful place on earth (yes I'm biased). We also have a RUclips channel, we live in a dry cabin, (not remote) yet, definitely going to happen someday. I have lived in Alaska for 50 years, I grew up in what was the bush, but now modernized, I loved the lifestyle so much, that although we live just outside of Wasilla, in a neighborhood, we live a simple life. We did get the chance to take the ferry, (matanuska & Kennicot) this last summer, when we brought a motorcycle up. It was a great adventure, we camped on the deck and brought our own food. Angie
It sure has been a crazy year! I hope you enjoy the other videos. It more or less is just how things happen day by day! And some good info for people who want to move to Alaska or just live this kind of life. Thank you so much Deborah! 🤗🧡

Do you happen to follow Brian and Diana? They live on an island near Juneau??? Their channel used to be called My Alaska Dream, but I think it's been renamed. Brian is also an Army veteran, and his last duty station was at Ft. Hood, about 3 hours from me now. He's given me a standing invitation to visit them if I ever get over near Juneau, and I've reciprocated as they usually go to the Kenai to fish at least once a year. Keep the videos coming Al(one)! 😁 Bill
An Alaska Homestead! Brian and Dianna are my mentors! I've been watching them for years. I think they have done Alaska RUclips longer than anyone so they are Royalty in my book. I actually dedicated Episode 13 to them. The other channels I watch are "Boss of the Swamp" JC/Lori are the OG's of offgrid/homestead living in the lower 48, and Shawn James/My Self Reliance is the OG in Canada. I mention Boss in episode 14 at the end where I am talking to myself :-)

I just ordered something similar from eBay for $1100 and I'll pick it up in El Paso a week from Monday... bring it back here, then ship it up to AK... lol!! A wood oven is the way to go! I do plan on getting the Elmira wood oven but I am not sure. I have found the Elmira stove in Anchorage and it seems that's the only brand you can get up here for now. Its a good oven though! What could be better than heating your cabin and having a place to cook and bake! :-)
I was so excited I forgot to record more at the end! Sorry! I was just in awe as I drove up to the cabin. Finally seeing it in person! I knew the cabin would be mine from that point. :-)
That's so neat... I'm myself too am moving up there. In a few weeks actually. Leaving Texas. Been here 10 years. Funny thing is back in August. Last week of. I flew into Fairbanks and my buddy that lives there we rented a uhaul and took a small boat down to Whittier. We probably drove past each other lmao. Such a beautiful place indeed. I too want to live in the Copper valley at some point. I'll have to binge watch your videos 👌
Well congratulations on moving to the best state in the union! We may have past each other! I saw a lot of Uhaul's coming and going! My vehicle would have had the big dog with his head out the window the entire drive! LOL! :-) The Copper River Valley is the best place to live in Alaska (in my opinion). By noticing the location called Juneau made me look to the right place of my wooden table. There stands the book A wolf called Romeo by author Nick Jans. It's a true story of a black wolf, six year friendship, between the people and dogs of Juneau.
I did change my thumbnails! Got some great advise from some RUclips mentors. :-) I did like my old thumbnails even if it was starting to look like an encyclopedia set. But the change seems to have helped in views and subscribers!
How long did the trip take on the ferry and do you need a passport to leave the U.S. and go to Alaska or to come back.looks like a wonderful trip might plan one in my future
I had to take two ferry trips. First one was three days and the second was about 1 1/2. In between the ferry rides I had a three day layover in Juneau. You do not need a passport if you take the ferry. If you take the ALCAN highway that cuts through CANADA and you may not need a passport to enter CANADA but you will need one to get back into the United States. And going through Canada, they want you out as quickly as possible. So limited sight seeing. The ferry ride is an awesome experience! You can camp on the deck with a tent. Sleep in the main room or get a cabin with a shower. Food is basic but good. Your best bet is to take the ferry in my opinion. I hope you get a chance to see Alaska! Be careful though! Alaska is addictive! :-)
Please let me know what types of videos you would like to see. More scenic? Instructional? Vlogging my personal experience? Or something different?

I just ordered something similar from eBay for $1100 and I'll pick it up in El Paso a week from Monday... bring it back here, then ship it up to AK... lol!! I've always wanted a wood burning stove/oven so this fits the bill (not me) perfectly!! Did you have an email address listed on your channel? I'd send you some photos of it when I get it, but don't know how to do that as a comment on here. Here's the link to it... if YT will let me shown another link: www.ebay.com/itm/224832067545?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20200818142401%26meid%3D57374757aad148f49c008b9f60bf772a%26pid%3D101124%26rk%3D10%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D224798837392%26itm%3D224832067545%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2563228%26algv%3DDefaultOrganicWeb&_trksid=p2563228.c101124.m2109
A wood oven is the way to go! I do plan on getting the Elmira wood oven but I am not sure. I have found the Elmira stove in Anchorage and it seems that's the only brand you can get up here for now. Its a good oven though! What could be better than heating your cabin and having a place to cook and bake! :-)
How did you find the cabin you bought? And it would be interesting to hear the process of buying it! Did I miss something in an earlier video?
Episode 22! Check it out! You didn't miss a thing! Just took me awhile to get to the subject :-)
You have to be excited to reach your new home. This is quite an adventure just riding along with you. Thank you✌️♥️
I was so excited I forgot to record more at the end! Sorry! I was just in awe as I drove up to the cabin. Finally seeing it in person! I knew the cabin would be mine from that point. :-)
@@AloneinRemoteAlaska anxious to see what's coming. ♥️
Thank you so much for binge watching my videos! There is no bigger compliment you can give a RUclips creator! I hope you will stick around for more craziness too! I try to post every Thursday. Internet permitting :-) Thank you Chris! :-)
@@AloneinRemoteAlaska Thank you and yes what a sight too see. I've never been so awe stricken before. I'm driving up in my Pickup. Making a bed camper. Will have all my belongings on the trailer. Going to be Myself and my Small Collie Bella. So excited too. And you're welcome. I'm watching as I can. Little slow at work so had a few minutes. I'll pick up when I get home
So cool! I have slept in my Jeep many times camping in Colorado! I loved it! Kenai and I always slept so comfortable and warm. Never liked Glamping! :-) Keep Bella safe! LOL don’t watch at work! :-)
Wow, great work Cuz!!! Each video gets better, love your logo, nice job storytelling!!!!
Ah, Thanks! That means a lot coming from one of the most creative people I know! I just realized that you have a channel too!! Just subscribed and now I need to start binge watching!!!
@@AloneinRemoteAlaska thank you for the creativity compliment! I got through 5 of your videos so far ( my mom told me about your channel today) and I will binge watch the rest of your vids tomorrow! Thanks for subscribing, I haven’t come up with a name for my channel yet, my channel eventually will be about Annette & my travel adventures (along w/ 2 cats) in our Motorhome that we just purchased! I look forward to your videos and would love to share ideas on video content w/ you!
I love that you finally got the motorhome! That is awesome. I will follow up on Instagram with a direct message.
By noticing the location called Juneau made me look to the right place of my wooden table. There stands the book A wolf called Romeo by author Nick Jans. It's a true story of a black wolf, six year friendship, between the people and dogs of Juneau.
I will have to get this book. Sounds like a good read!
Another amazing video!
Did you change your thumb nails? Looks good 😉
I did change my thumbnails!
Did you travel through Canada to get to Alaska?
👍😎🇨🇦🌲🌊
Thank you so much! 🧡🤗💚
