This is so great!!! Anyone who has ever been in a marching band ...any marching band...and done a half time show would love this!! This brings back so many memories...I so miss trekking up that hill to Pitt Stadium We need an Oakland stadium
Rebuild Pitt Stadium right where it was. Have less end zone seats, a few luxury boxes, the Winstein Panther looking down on his favorite team, and pictures of everyone from Pop Warner to Jock Sutherland to Aaron Donald all over the place. And a big hole for the band to come out to! The hoops team will be just fine at the Penguins new arena and that would offer a real chance for the universities and City to resurrect the Fifth/Forbes corridor to something other than an urban slum- which is a one of the great shames of Pittsburgh.
Marky Billson Pitt screwed up big time when the left Pitt stadium. As a PSU fan that was a college football icon like Notre Dame stadium and Ohio Stadium with so much history to Pitt football. They have renovated or rebuilt those stadium like they have. Also when they changed the uniforms in 1997 it didn’t help them in the long term. Heinz Field hasn’t helped with getting major recruits that much and Turning them into national title contenders.
Miami, Pitt and temple all currently play in NFL stadiums. Based on attendance figures that is not going well for these schools. On-campus stadiums can fix that.
I was a student from 75-79. It was crazy there. Tiger Paul would fire up the crowd. One day Tony Dorsett ran over to the WVU bench and raised his index finger at them. Then ran back to his own bench. Needless to say he had a big game and Pitt beat WVU.
This is great. From 1999 when pitt stadium said, "Goodbye people i had a great time." But i seen the person close the box of pitt stadium air to bring it to 3 rivers stadium for a year
Just watching this again. Thank you, Curtis, for recording this! I was supposed to go to the last game at Pitt Stadium, and march with The Crew. Unfortunately, my (now ex) husband was fired from his job two days before, for doing something very bad. Quite possibly one of the worst times of my life, and I couldn't go to the game. Thanks again!
I was on one of the wooden chairs that day. I wish I could have marched out just like annabannana338. I was only 9 at the time and my older sister was 10. My little sister was only a newborn so she couldn't make it. I was so excited when my dad told me about this, after yesterday's alumni game.
you're mixing two songs. Alleghenec is part of Hail to Pitt. Penn State Sucks belongs to the Pitt Victory song which replaced the words "Fight Pitt Fight, Fight Pitt Fight, V I C T O R Y to Penn State Sucks Penn State Sucks P E N N S T Sucks. The cheer was started by a fraternity I can't remember in row 38 of Sec 16 of Pitt Stadium during the Pitt Syracuse game of 1987. As part of a campaign to get Ironhead Heyward votes for the Heisman Trophy (he would finish fifth), Pitt handed out pictures of Heyward on a paint stirring stick as part of their Halloween celebration that year. From then on Pitt fans sang in song what they already knew in their hearts--Penn State Sucks. Of course until, killjoy twice failed AD Steve Peterson put a stop to it after PSU fans were offended in 2001. Another reason to stick a pin in your voodoo doll of Peterson, if getting rid of Pitt script as a merchandising money grab and getting rid of Pitt Stadium for a basketball arena with a leaking roof while banishing the Panthers to an existence of playing on the road or those cursed neutral site games at Heinz Field were not enough crimes against all this is Blue and Gold.
Rokinray He screwed up big time and made Pitt football even worse. I’m a PSU fan but Pitt football still has a LONG way to go to get into national title contention. Pitt football has be dead since Jackie Sherrill left in 1982.
It's funny, because as a freshman in 1995, during orientation you are taught the correct words to the victory song. So the first game of that season against drew Bledsoe and the Washington State Cougars, we all sang fight pitt fight, fight pitt fight, V-I-C-T-O-R-Y!!! but the upperclassmen sang the infamous Penn State Sucks cheer. So we all looked at each other confused because we weren't playing them. It took about 2 more home games before we started saying Penn state sucks.

@@olschool121 uh, Bledsoe didn’t play for wsu in 95, as he got drafted by the pats in 93
