The black bakelite fuse holder that you're breaking there (Containing the Cat no. AFSC) is an Asbestos product btw (the fuse itself normally contains asbestos too), and the rest of the bakelite could well be as well. As already mentioned in a comment the flash pads are asbestos, the door seal may also be, and even the braided cabling that you were cutting can be. Before damaging this sort of stuff I would highly recommend having it tested. It's not something you want to breathing in, or taking home on your clothes for other people to breath in.

You can panic about these things if you want to. And I appreciate that you are letting me know. Will graphene be the next asbestos? Why did the class action in USA against talc fail. But wait: cigarettes are completely legal! And in my life I have walked along busy roads risks everywhere.

I'm just pointing out the hazard, what you choose to do with that information is up to you. It is your health at the end of the day, and if you expose others, then that's on your moral compass, not mine.

that main cut out was designed to have two fuses but people realized that fusing the neutrals was a bad idea, in the event of a fault the likely hood of one fuse blowing and not the other meant there was a chance the live side could still remain intact livening up an installation that appears off.
i do have to say that mem made and still make solid electrical accessories.
i personally wouldn't want to be messing around with these old boards if i could help it due to them containing asbestos, i can see the switch fuse unit still has the asbestos pads for arc containment, the bigger fuse box box seems to have an asbestos gasket around the door.
    Thanks for sharing.

The Black box you opened is a Terminal connection point, not a fuse 😂👍

I’d say it’s plainly clear that I don’t know what I’m doing! Lol.

Looks like maybe someone has put a piece of pipe in there instead of a fuse

That is double pole fusing someone has replaced the neutral fuse with a solid link as per regulations think about it if only the neutral fuse blew the whole installation would still be live even tho nothing g works very dangerouse all that is double pole fusing this points to it originally having been used on a DC supply or a 2 phase AC supply like 127 volts per phase to give 220 volts for your appliances. There are NO BREAKERS just fuses and switches

"the safety police"? really? This is how clueless cnts get killed, and the fact you don't know why, just by looking alone why each of those cables at the bottom are there, or that fact that one of the fuse carriers will have have a solid piece in it, put you clearly into this category.
Don't pull the fuse to your own property. Not only is it dangerous af, if you don't know what you're doing, but it's also illegal af. Those supply cables may have been in the ground for more than 100 years, they are insulated using PAPER! if that insulation breaks down, you, and probably your neighbours are - as they say - fked.
Have just seen the bit around 10:30. THAT'S ASBESTOS!!!!!!
Those white flash pads recessed into where the fuses would go are asbestos. Best of luck.
