These both spiritual journeys of the Prophet of Islam '' Miraj'' ( spiritual ascension to heaven) and '' Isra'' (Night Journey to Jerusalem) have been described in different verses of the Holy Quran. The description about ''Miraj'' has been mentioned in surah al Najam 8-12 and about ''Isra'' in Bani Israel (17.1) ''Miraj'' ( spiritual ascension to heaven) took place during the 5th year of his Prophethood (when Prophet of Islam (sa) was resting at night near the house of Kaba in Mecca and ''Isra'' in the 13th year of his Prophethood when he was in the house of his relative Ume Hani. These both took place in different times ''Miraj'' is given name when the Holy Prophet had a vision of those celestial scenes he was transported into a highly spiritual state and the spirituality of his heart was elevated by God Almighty to the highest level of human capacity (And He revealed His Word when he (prophet of Islam) was on the uppermost horizon) and God Almighty bowed down to meet him(then He came down to mankind). This spiritual nearness of Prophet of Islam (saw) to God Almighty has been described by this simile in the Holy Quran: ''So that he became, as it were, the one chord of two bows or closer still.'' The verses of (53:8 -12) of the Holy Quran ''Isra ''(Spiritual Night Journey to Jerusalem) has different details as during this vision the Prophet of Islam met Adam and all other prophets and led them in prayer in the Holy House of Jerusalem. It all happened in vision as all previous prophets were not physically there. It is also told by him that during the Night Journey to Jerusalem (Isra), he saw an old woman, a person standing on one side of the road, and three cups full of water, wine and milk (of which the Prophet chose the last)", and Gabriel told him what an these things signified. The Explanation and interpretation by Gabriel of the things the Prophet saw shows that the Journey was only a vision, for it is only things seen in visions that need interpretation and explanation. Some Muslims blindly follow some human invented myths to describe these both spiritual journeys of the Prophet of Islam (SAW). There is no description in the Holy Quran that the prophet of Islam (SAW) physically flew towards the sky with the help of a winged horse as usually is described by some ignorant Muslims. It is just a myth, invented by some Muslims in the explanation of some verses of the Quran. This false conception is the result of their misunderstanding about sky and Heaven. It is their mistake to consider Heaven a place somewhere above in the sky. Heaven has no relation to physical objects or places that exist in the height of the sky. Heaven is a term that is used for spiritual elevation and it is totally different to sky. The word Sky represents a height or a distance that is between two physical objects, (for example from earth to another planet etc). The word Heaven represents spiritual elevation that is achieved through heart and a person has no need to move physically to approach it. For example, causes and effects of this Physical world lead to a world small in size, particles to sub particles, becoming invisible and finally changing into energy. I mean there exists a very spiritual world inside the system of this universe. Actually God Almighty has divided His wonderful universe into three parts: (1) The world which is manifest and can be felt through the eyes and the ears and other physical senses and through ordinary instruments. (2) The world which is hidden and which can be understood through reason and conjecture. (3) The world which is hidden beyond hidden, which is so imperceptible that few are aware of it. That world is entirely unseen; reason has not been granted the ability to reach it, except through mere conjecture. This world is disclosed only through visions, revelation, inspiration, and not by any other means. A person meets his God Almighty always with the help of his holy nature and purity of heart. Human nature or soul is very spiritual and have a capacity to communicate God Almighty through heart (as revelation is always descended on human heart by God Almighty). Islamic books have described about this spiritual ascension of the Prophet of Islam in the Heaven (in the night of Miraj) that he was between sleep and awakening (his eyes were closed but he was conscious), when Miraj (ascension in the heaven) vision took place. The description about this journey of the Prophet of Islam (sa) in the h Heavens is safe in following words in the Quran : ''And He revealed His Word when he was on the uppermost horizon. Then he drew nearer to God; then he came down to mankind. So that he became ,as it were, one chord to two bows or closer still. Then He revealed to His servant that which He revealed. The heart of the Prophet was not untrue to that which he saw.'' [Quran 53:8 12] This verse [Quran 53:12]makes it clear that it was not the holy body but the holy heart of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessing be upon him ) that became the source to experiene these acclestiel scenes to meet God Almighty.

Was it really in space or in the spiritual realm?? Space consists of this physical realm, the planets, trillions of stars and billions of galaxies and it cannot be said the dwellings of those who have passed away is in this physical world, no, it is in the spiritual world. It must noted that Al asqa mosque in which prophet Muhammad led some previous prophets who have passed away was not in existence physically at that time. The foundations of the Al asqa mosque as we find it today was laid by Hazrat Umar when he first visited Jerusalem after it was conquered by the Muslims, it was then continued by Imam Malik and his successor until we find it today. In effect the Al asqa mosque was not in existence at the time of the night journey from Mecca to Jerusalem and so how was it possible that the prophet prayed in that mosque? Prophet Muhammad passed away before the Al asqa mosque was built and so he couldn't have prayed in that mosque as many Muslims of today understands it. The true fact was that the night journey from Mecca to Jerusalem was a spiritual journey or a vision and not a physical phenomenon. In the spiritual realm, it was possible for the prophet to have visited the Al asqa mosque and prayed with the souls of the departed prophets, But it wasn't possible in the physical sense, or in order words, it wasn't a literal journey as many Muslims of today erroneously believe it to be. Both the Isra. and the Miraj all took place in a vision and they weren't a literal phenomenon, and also they were two different events that took place separately .
To give a deeper analysis on a deen that was deemed to be complete basing on the realms you have not been to is a sign of a weak faith. If Allah took Issa a.s to heaven in physical form why do you doubt it for prophet Muhammad s.a.w. If it was in the spiritual realm why the need of Buraq an animal from Janna to carry him s.a.w from Mecca to Jerusalem. This event is a real test to our faith just as it was for those before us so we should be careful.

It shouldn't matter to us how the isra and miraaj happened, as long as we believe what the prophet said. Our intellect is limited and we can only imagine within those limits. But this limitation is exactly what determines the conclusion that it was a spiritual journey, as the physical human body cannot withstand such extremes of travel as well as other physical needs.
The Quranic verse in Al Nisa verse 157 is likewise a spiritual exaltation of Nabi Isah and not a physical phenomenon. Many eminent Muslim saints interpret the verse to mean a spiritual exaltation and not physically hoisting up of a body towards Allah. Allah is a spiritual being and not confined to a a specific place and so the hoisting up of a physical body towards Him is not possible, and so it must be clearly understood that Nabi Isah is not physically residing in paradise with his body of flesh and blood. The holy Quran spelt out clearly that all prophets who preceded prophet Muhammad has passed away . Our physical body of blood and flesh is fit to live on this earth in accordance with Allah's laws of nature, the spiritual realm is meant for spiritual bodies or souls and not our perishable physical body . In like manner some Muslim commentators claim that Hazrat Idris was taken up physically to paradise and he has even been buried there. How can a human being who was created by Allah to reside and die on this earth be taken up to paradise and be buried there?? Do we have cemeteries in paradise or do paradise contain dead bodies?? All these matters are due to the misinterpretion of the verses if the Quran . How can Nabi Isah and Hazrat Idris be residing in paradise and the chief of the prophets lies buried on this earth?? All the prophets of Allah are all buried on this earth just like the chief of the prophets, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa and non of them is residing presently in his physical body in paradise. These both spiritual journeys of the Prophet of Islam '' Miraj'' ( spiritual ascension to heaven) and '' Isra'' (Night Journey to Jerusalem) have been described in different verses of the Holy Quran. The description about ''Miraj'' has been mentioned in surah al Najam 8-12 and about ''Isra'' in Bani Israel (17.1) ''Miraj'' ( spiritual ascension to heaven) took place during the 5th year of his Prophethood (when Prophet of Islam (sa) was resting at night near the house of Kaba in Mecca and ''Isra'' in the 13th year of his Prophethood when he was in the house of his relative Ume Hani.
These both took place in different times ''Miraj'' is given name when the Holy Prophet had a vision of those celestial scenes he was transported into a highly spiritual state and the spirituality of his heart was elevated by God Almighty to the highest level of human capacity (And He revealed His Word when he (prophet of Islam) was on the uppermost horizon) and God Almighty bowed down to meet him(then He came down to mankind). This spiritual nearness of Prophet of Islam (saw) to God Almighty has been described by this simile in the Holy Quran: ''So that he became, as it were, the one chord of two bows or closer still.''
The verses of (53:8 -12) of the Holy Quran ''Isra ''(Spiritual Night Journey to Jerusalem) has different details as during this vision the Prophet of Islam met Adam and all other prophets and led them in prayer in the Holy House of Jerusalem. It all happened in vision as all previous prophets were not physically there. It is also told by him that during the Night Journey to Jerusalem (Isra), he saw an old woman, a person standing on one side of the road, and three cups full of water, wine and milk (of which the Prophet chose the last)", and Gabriel told him what an these things signified.
The Explanation and interpretation by Gabriel of the things the Prophet saw shows that the Journey was only a vision, for it is only things seen in visions that need interpretation and explanation.
Some Muslims blindly follow some human invented myths to describe these both spiritual journeys of the Prophet of Islam (SAW). There is no description in the Holy Quran that the prophet of Islam (SAW) physically flew towards the sky with the help of a winged horse as usually is described by some ignorant Muslims. It is just a myth, invented by some Muslims in the explanation of some verses of the Quran. This false conception is the result of their misunderstanding about sky and Heaven. It is their mistake to consider Heaven a place somewhere above in the sky. Heaven has no relation to physical objects or places that exist in the height of the sky.
Heaven is a term that is used for spiritual elevation and it is totally different to sky. The word Sky represents a height or a distance that is between two physical objects, (for example from earth to another planet etc). The word Heaven represents spiritual elevation that is achieved through heart and a person has no need to move physically to approach it. For example, causes and effects of this Physical world lead to a world small in size, particles to sub particles, becoming invisible and finally changing into energy. I mean there exists a very spiritual world inside the system of this universe. Actually God Almighty has divided His wonderful universe into three parts:
(1) The world which is manifest and can be felt through the eyes and the ears and other physical senses and through ordinary instruments.
(2) The world which is hidden and which can be understood through reason and conjecture.
(3) The world which is hidden beyond hidden, which is so imperceptible that few are aware of it. That world is entirely unseen; reason has not been granted the ability to reach it, except through mere conjecture. This world is disclosed only through visions, revelation, inspiration, and not by any other means.
A person meets his God Almighty always with the help of his holy nature and purity of heart. Human nature or soul is very spiritual and have a capacity to communicate God Almighty through heart (as revelation is always descended on human heart by God Almighty).
Islamic books have described about this spiritual ascension of the Prophet of Islam in the Heaven (in the night of Miraj) that he was between sleep and awakening (his eyes were closed but he was conscious), when Miraj (ascension in the heaven) vision took place. The description about this journey of the Prophet of Islam (sa) in the h Heavens is safe in following words in the Quran : ''And He revealed His Word when he was on the uppermost horizon. Then he drew nearer to God; then he came down to mankind. So that he became ,as it were, one chord to two bows or closer still. Then He revealed to His servant that which He revealed. The heart of the Prophet was not untrue to that which he saw.'' [Quran 53:8 12]
This verse [Quran 53:12]makes it clear that it was not the holy body but the holy heart of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessing be upon him ) that became the source to experiene these acclestiel scenes to meet God Almighty.

Was it really in space or in the spiritual realm?? Space consists of this physical realm, the planets, trillions of stars and billions of galaxies and it cannot be said the dwellings of those who have passed away is in this physical world, no, it is in the spiritual world. It must noted that Al asqa mosque in which prophet Muhammad led some previous prophets who have passed away was not in existence physically at that time. The foundations of the Al asqa mosque as we find it today was laid by Hazrat Umar when he first visited Jerusalem after it was conquered by the Muslims, it was then continued by Imam Malik and his successor until we find it today. In effect the Al asqa mosque was not in existence at the time of the night journey from Mecca to Jerusalem and so how was it possible that the prophet prayed in that mosque? Prophet Muhammad passed away before the Al asqa mosque was built and so he couldn't have prayed in that mosque as many Muslims of today understands it. The true fact was that the night journey from Mecca to Jerusalem was a spiritual journey or a vision and not a physical phenomenon. In the spiritual realm, it was possible for the prophet to have visited the Al asqa mosque and prayed with the souls of the departed prophets, But it wasn't possible in the physical sense, or in order words, it wasn't a literal journey as many Muslims of today erroneously believe it to be. Both the Isra. and the Miraj all took place in a vision and they weren't a literal phenomenon, and also they were two different events that took place separately .

To give a deeper analysis on a deen that was deemed to be complete basing on the realms you have not been to is a sign of a weak faith. If Allah took Issa a.s to heaven in physical form why do you doubt it for prophet Muhammad s.a.w. If it was in the spiritual realm why the need of Buraq an animal from Janna to carry him s.a.w from Mecca to Jerusalem. This event is a real test to our faith just as it was for those before us so we should be careful.

Issa AS was not killed on the cross, that's all, as per the holy Qur'an. The rest is conjecture.
It shouldn't matter to us how the isra and miraaj happened, as long as we believe what the prophet said. Our intellect is limited and we can only imagine within those limits. But this limitation is exactly what determines the conclusion that it was a spiritual journey, as the physical human body cannot withstand such extremes of travel as well as other physical needs.
The Quranic verse in Al Nisa verse 157 is likewise a spiritual exaltation of Nabi Isah and not a physical phenomenon. Many eminent Muslim saints interpret the verse to mean a spiritual exaltation and not physically hoisting up of a body towards Allah.
Allah is a spiritual being and not confined to a a specific place and so the hoisting up of a physical body
towards Him is not possible, and so it must be clearly understood that Nabi Isah is not physically residing in paradise with his body of flesh and blood. The holy Quran spelt out clearly that all prophets who preceded prophet Muhammad has passed away . Our physical body of blood and flesh is fit to live on this earth in accordance with Allah's laws of nature, the spiritual realm is meant for spiritual bodies or souls and not our perishable physical body . In like manner some Muslim commentators claim that Hazrat Idris was taken up physically to paradise and he has even been buried there. How can a human being who was created by Allah to reside and die on this earth be taken up to paradise and be buried there?? Do we have cemeteries in paradise or do paradise contain dead bodies?? All these matters are due to the misinterpretion of the verses if the Quran . How can Nabi Isah and Hazrat Idris be residing in paradise and the chief of the prophets lies buried on this earth?? All the prophets of Allah are all buried on this earth just like the chief of the prophets, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa and non of them is residing presently in his physical body in paradise. The prophet sitting on a Buraq from Mecca to Jerusalem does not necessarily mean that it was a physical event, because there are instances of Muslims saints seen their compatriots sitting on horses in a vision or in a dream; does that mean that it was a physical phenomenon?? Umi Hani was the only person with the holy prophet during the event of the Israh, if it was indeed a physical phenomenon, then surely Umi Hani should have seen the Buraq together with angel Gabriel and the holy prophet with his own physical eyes but it didn't happen that way. I have also already stated that at the time of the Israh. the Al asqa mosque was not in existence, and so how could the prophet have physically entered nto the Al asqa mosque that was not in existence and prayed there together with some prophets who have passed away??
