Chris Evans Explains Why He Misses his iPhone 6S, Just Like We Do

- Last month, Chris Evans revealed on Twitter and Instagram that he had finally said farewell to his trusty iPhone 6S, which rightfully surprised fans since that particular model of the iPhone came out all the way back in 2014. Yes, Evans had been holding onto an outdated iPhone model for almost eight years! But who could blame him? The last six models of the iPhone have been great and all, but the iPhone 6s really was the best model. Naturally, when Collider's own Steve Weintraub caught up with Evans to talk about The Gray Man, his dearly departed iPhone came up in the conversation.
Evans' iPhone 6S was there for him through thick and thin over the better part of a decade. It was an iconic part of sneaky set photos during his last appearances as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the tool with which he shared pictures from the set of Knives Out in Ransom's cable-knit sweater alongside his beloved pup Dodger. While we're going to miss the iPhone 6S for all of these memorable moments, Evans is going to miss it for a much more important reason: the home button. In our interview with him, Evans shared, "I'm just saying, do I miss the home button? Yeah, I do."
There is a lot of irony in the fact that cellphones used to be big and blocky before iPhone streamlined them into the pocket-ready iPhone 6S, but now with the newer models-especially the iPhone 12-they're back to being heavy and unyielding. Which was a sentiment Evans echoed when he explained his issues with his upgrade. "I feel like my new phone is too heavy. I know that makes me the oldest dinosaur in the world, but the problem is... It's right here. It's right here. I'm going to talk some shit right now. Because as I hold it, you use the pinky to brace it, and it feels too heavy. It's too heavy." Is the iPhone 12 the new Mjölnir?
And folks, if you were one of the people under Evans' tweet telling him which model he should have gotten instead-he heard you, and your suggestions won't bring back the phone he really wants. "I had a thousand who are like, "Get the SE!" I'm like, no, I don't want, I want the iPhone 6. I want something from before to work until it doesn't work anymore." Oh no, this means he probably read my tweet asking him if he was secretly my mother, who also just made the unfortunate upgrade from an iPhone 6S to an iPhone 12.

A whole lot of people hate the loss of home button. The closest option they have is the SE so it works out for some people.
I felt the same devastation when I had to upgrade my iPhone… I miss the home button!

12 Pro is 46 grams (1.6 ounces) heavier than the 6S. So while he's right, it could be worse if he got the 13 Pro (58 grams heavier)
I'm almost thinking that's why he got the iPhone 12, which is older than the iPhone 13 and has officially already been discontinued by Apple... lol.

I miss the time when smartphone is smaller than 5.5 inch. That's all.
I used 12 mini before - it's great. Fit very in my hand.
Now I had to go with regular 13 because the mini is extremely difficult to get. And 6.1 inch is way bigger and doesn't suit my hand.

I feel it’s way past time Apple listened and made the iPhone exciting again! My XS broke recently and I’m very grateful a friend let me have his 7 Plus to tide me over til I can get a 14 Pro, but I’m mainly getting the 14 Pro so I can use future iOS updates the XS won’t get and have twice the onboard storage my XS had. It does feel nice to have a home button again and not have to deal with a notch, but my iPhone 7 Plus won’t get iOS 16! Apple NEED to make iPhone user friendly again. If I could choose the specs of my next iPhone and not have to rely on the specs of the ones already available to buy, I’d like my next iPhone to have a headphone jack, a home button, a screen higher in resolution than 1080p, 2TB onboard storage and the size of the unit to be as close to that of the 2G/3G/4 as possible!

I'm hanging onto my iphone 7 for the same reason. The issue is when you can't upgrade software anymore and certain apps don't even open anymore. Now being forced out to choose a new phone. And what's the point of "upgrading" to go to an SE? If I'm going to upgrade, I would at least hope to get a better camera or something. I don't understand why apple hasn't brought the button back. Every person I talk to says they loved the button.

I don't see any reason to switch my iPhone 7 to SE, but the new iPhones is also not for me (no home button, to large - of course, there is 13 mini, but 13 mini in hands is smaller than iPhone 7. I know, the 13 mini, have bigger screen, but in hand the 13 mini is smaller than iPhone 7 and there is no home button).
I’m exactly the same… 😂 I held onto my iPhone 6S for years because I loved the home button. I was so upset that I couldn’t upgrade to the iPhone 7. I also loved iOS 6 and resisted iOS 7 for a long, long time as well.

Someone really needs to make a small flagship phone again. Today's "compact" devices are gigantic compared to early smartphones. Why can't I get an OG iPhone with a new cpu and an edge to edge display? Never held that phone up with my pinky.

Get an iPhone 13 mini. Screen is bigger, phone is smaller, but just as light and performs even better. So just buy the right product from Apple 👍

I’m still using my iPhone 6s. It’s still functioning so I don’t really need to upgrade yet. I like the home button a lot. Why don’t they make an iPhone like the new ones but with a home button.
Because Apple is trying to force their customers to use Face ID. Personally, I don't like FaceID. I prefer Touch ID. Apple has the resources to put Touch ID on the power button -- they have been doing that on their iPad Airs and iPad Minis. And clearly they can do that on their iPhones.

Y’all not ready for this conversation but the old design is still good. It’s the way we live in a society with iPads, Laptops and Computers but people complaining that they need their PHONE to have an all screen display because they “can’t see anything with the bezels” bruh are we for real?🙄. I feel like apple should of just kept the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus because there was still a huge market for it or Make an SE and an SE plus (for people that liked the plus models). I gave up my 8 plus a while ago thinking that getting the all screen displays was “the future” and in reality the novelty wore so fast for me. I would of switched back to the 8 plus but by the time I had the chance they stopped selling it so my only option was the new se which is good and I like it. I’m not gonna bash apple for innovating but man this is why you don’t get rid of classics that people enjoyed.

The iPhone SE (2nd generation) is very similar to the iPhone 6S in terms of external dimensions and weight and has a home button. And if that's too big for Captian America's small, delicate hands, there's always the iPhone mini. He can ask Ironman to explain its new UI interface concept to him. Or Pepper Potts.
