Gillian Anderson acting performance in this X File episode was spot on,I believe she won multiple Emmy awards for her role in the X file series, Great Actress..!

Yeah, Anderson is a great actress! I'd definitely recommend anyone to check out her other stuff as well. "The Fall", for instance - easily one of the best thriller series I've ever seen!

I often forget how beautiful the writing in a lot of these episodes is. So much of Scully’s narration is usually professional and for autopsy scenes, but then there are moments like the narration in this episode that are so personal, philosophical, and bring us to tears. The ending is so tender 😭

No matter how many times I've seen this episode I always cry. Scully's monologues, the music, and Gillian's acting are all so good in this. She really deserved the Emmy win that year! And I love the seeing the hope in both Mulder's and Scully's faces in the final hallway scene. Just beautiful.

Such a great episode. It's amazing to track Mulder and Scully's relationship thru the series, the trust and closeness that built up organically. Despite their differences and their constant arguments, they've grown to not only trust each other, they NEED each other. One is no longer whole without the other.

Momento Mori is Latin for "Remember Death". Gillian Anderson won the Emmy for Best Actress for this episode. The episode also won the Emmy for Art Direction.

I don't normally post comments on platforms like this but I just wanted to thank you for continuing to share your X-Files journey with us. I know that the view count is a little lower than your other series' reactions, which is a shame, and whilst I can't speak for others, the time and effort you put into editing and uploading all of these is greatly appreciated. Your reactions are genuine, honest, insightful, and always a joy to watch. I look forward to watching many more going forward.
    Kindest regards,
    Frank.

Scully's monologue is so emotional, she trusts Mulder so much but is afraid that she won't be around to finish the journey of the X-Files with him. We are getting more of an idea of what Scully and the other women who were abducted were subjected to - it's horrific. Mulder doing what he can to find answers for her while she's undergoing treatment is one of the many things about this episode that is so touching. The end scene is a favorite among the Mulder + Scully shippers! The Lone Gunmen are always a welcome presence, and we get to see more of Skinner's layers - he's not out to get Mulder and Scully, and he doesn't want to shut down the X-Files. He has proven time and time again that he has had his own experiences that have shaped him and that he has many questions himself. We can all agree that Cigarette Man is despicable. He's a great villain, one that you love to hate!
Trivia: Vegrevillie is a town in the Canadian province where I live, which is famous for - wait for it - a giant Ukrainian Easter Egg!
Awesome reaction, Jules, as always! 🥰

The X Files is my all-time favorite show. I started watching it when I was 12 and immediately fell in love with it and the characters, especially Mulder. My second favorite show is Lucifer; if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. The dialogues are really clever, the humor is fantastic, and it’s totally worth watching.

X-Files is in my top shows of all time. Another, I think you would actually be interested in Stargate SG-1... I used to watch X-Files with my grandma Friday nights and been hooked ever since. I have re-watched this show and SG1 every couple years.

The reason this episode is so moving (and it was!) is that the acting and writing is so next level! The letter that Dana wrote, more to herself, I think, than to Mulder, which may be why she decided to throw the letter out, was an exceptional example of good writing! James Wong and Glen Morgan also have another show from around the same time period.... Space: Above and Beyond. That show also had exemplary writing, but not so good special effects... The subtlety with which some of the scenes are acted... the fear in Mulder's voice, the resigned hatred in Skinners voice when he speaks to the CSM, all of that add up to emotional impact and is well done! Your reactions and commentary are definitely up to the task as well! I am looking forward to the next episod!

I never paid attention to the episode titles of x-files before. This is the third show I know of (although the first if we use “release order”) to have use this as an episode title, the other two being Penny Dreadful and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Skinner cements himself as fan fave from this moment on ❤. Skinman is the best!
This episode is so moving and is peak Xfiles (IMO). How will scully overcome this?
    Beautiful reaction as always Jules.

Skinner's, indeed, quite interesting. The show sells you a vague, biased impression early on, but then you find out more and more how he desperately tries to navigate impossible circumstances out of a sense of responsibility for those whose lives he's entrusted with protecting.
Depictions of mavericks who would fight power wielded unjustly are a dime a dozen... Skinner's a depiction of someone in power who tries to use it for good. A reminder that power doesn't, in fact, just automatically corrupt. All dangerous people have power, but not all powerful people are dangerous.

A great episode. I liked Skinner from the start, but no-one should have any doubts after this that he's one of the good guys. Let's hope that he doesn't do any stupid deals. William B. Davis does an excellent job playing the Cigarette Smoking Man, because I just want Skinner to punch him in the face every time they are in the same room. We are already in the fourth season and we still know almost nothing about CSM.

I thought this was definitely a top 20 from the whole show. Scully has some type of cancer it looks like she may die, as many of the other abductees seem to to have had the same cancer as Scully and have died. Mulder needs to find some kind of cure and fast, and with the help of The Lone Gunmen he tries to do just that. The reaction of Scully's mother is understandable after the loss of Melissa also. Mulder comes across The Clones again in the research lab and we then see all the names of the abductees. Penny dies while being comforted by Scully, and great acting in Mulder's arms when she says she will fight to carry on, and as Mulder calls Skinner we see Smoking Man put his cigarette out in the cup saying to Skinner there is a way if a price is paid to save her. As a first time watcher Jules you now have Scully's illness here, along with Joyce's illness in S5 of BTVS quite a double whammy to cope with!

So much to love in this episode. Scully's narrating what she's writing to Mulder is so beautifully done. Skinner 'finding another way re the CSM gives me palpitations. And that scene at the end with Mulder and Scully both hurts and heals in the best way. Great episode, great reaction, Jules. Happy X-files day. :)

That was one of the absolute best episodes of the entire series. I loved it back then and I still love it now. Scully's cancer storyline is utterly heartbreaking stuff. I recommend keeping that box of tissues close by. You will need them.

The ducklings are not speaking anymore. They have declared themselves as silent monks until TV shows become happy again. Don't ask me. They did ask for monk robes so they can have their order, and remain silent as pence for whatever they have done that caused the TV gods Tobe angry with them.
Well maybe I can get so peace.
    Have a wonderful day.

I really love these kind of poetic, existential episodes the x files has sometimes. And man, that seen at the end with mulder by her side. They really don't make tv like this anymore.
Also, may I say that's it's an interesting coincidence that you are watching this storyline in x files at the same time you are watching season 5 of buffy? 😂

Another great episode. This 1 hits home for me, because of when my mother had 2 brain tumor operations and having the other treatments. Makes me wonder how much of what Scully feels my mother did too. I'm glad I was able to have my mother in life for almost a decade afterwards. Kinda have some idea how the people around Scully feel. Sorry to add another sad element to this.

    • @zammmerjammer
      @zammmerjammer 6 месяцев назад

There's one scene that introduces Scully's older brother, Bill Jr.
Then there are a few alternate takes of that ending hallway scene -- so much cuddling and smooching that didn't make the final cut. 🥰
Just do a search for "Memento Mori X-Files deleted scenes" (if you're interested).
