The Thompson SMG in NV is actually the same model as the one used in WW2. The Original "Tommy Gun" was different, not just visually & in how the handguard is but even the mechanism was quite different. The REALLY interesting note though is that the OG mechanism used "Blische Lock", which was a pseudo-scientific principle which dictated that if two varying-hardness metals rub together @ fast speed & high pressure they actually temporarily lock (on a molecular level). Of course any physicists & majority of gun experts at the time didn't believe it but Thompson & a few more arms designers actually produced a few rifles with this principle utilized. However when the Thompson (years later) was looked at by the army they turned it into a conventional blow-back design, only making it a few OZ heavier but much cheaper to make. Anyway, point is the Thomson is a really odd gun if you look into it's history & while for the time it came out it was fine, by the time of WW2 it was pretty bad especially with the army's mods to make it much cheaper to manufacture. ...and this same lackluster gun was sold for insane amounts of money to other countries in need of help during WW2.. Part of history America doesn't talk about, ever. Even Britain couldn't afford to buy enough Thompsons from America with all their stolen Afrikaan Gold...
Advice: the 9mm pistol, frag grenades, battle rifle, this machine, .45 pistol, .45 SMG, combat knife, hatchet, missile launcher, automatic rifle, incendiary grenades, satchel charge, and time bomb should all be available for your use. The 9mm submachine gun in Doc Mitchel's house is an M3 "grease gun", used by the United Stated during WW2. The real ones actually fired .45 ACP though. No big deal thouth since the "Battle Rifle" is really an M1 Garrand which fired 30-06 8n real life while the game has it chambered for .308. Since they're playing loose with the ammo, I'd just consider the 9mm automatic pistol to be a 1911 which also fires .45 ACP in real life...unless you order one with a different caliber from a manufacturer.
The 9mm pistol is a Browning Hi-Power, so it being a 9mm pistol is accurate. The .45 Automatic Pistol from Honest Hearts is a 1911. He could've used it for this challenge as well since it was utilized in WWII, but it is what it is.
I got stuck trying to get the Survivalist's Rifle, after getting the Desert Ranger Armor. Anyway, it's very cool to see someone make it all look easy!!!
The 9mm SMG and Pistol are both WW3 guns, so is the Automatic Rifle from Dead Money, the Bowie Knife, the Brush Gun, the .45 SMG and Pistol, the .44 Revolver, the 357 Revolver, the Hunting Rifle, the Cowboy Repeater, the Broad Machete, and the Frag Grenades as well. Some soldiers used one handed shovels, and some did use knives like cleavers, but the list I named is everything you could have used.
I forgot to mention that in the video but I actually don't think its possible. It's a shame as I really like the weapon in my casual playthroughs.
Honest Hearts has a Thompson SMG and an M1911. Dead Money has a BAR (though its more trouble than its worth) Vanilla game has a 9mm smg thats based off the m3 grease gun.
