Bamboo incredible the way grows. Back in the 80s we had it along the back fence a lot of privacy. A lot of memories. I've learnt something about bamboo thanks for sharing this video Sarah.
@@HollywoodVines Are you happy to teach & talk Bamboo cultivation in a Q & A Livestream? What are the benefits of growing in an urban environment? I would love to learn from your experience, as within the UK, it looks great for acting as a partition screen & sound barrier, whilst being positive for the carbon absorption.
I love Bamboo ae well. There is a wonderful vibe when you walk inside a bamboo forest. I plan to plant some for privacy next to my pool. Thanks for the video!
After having had to cut through forests of the stuff at work, I've often said I'd NEVER plant it on my property, but I'm about to 'bite the bullet' and grow myself a privacy fence. This video helped me make that decision. Good luck, me!
As one who came from south east Asia, I love bamboos. It's versatile, can be used as a building material, privacy hedging (as shown here), even for cooking (shoots). Thanks for sharing. 🙏 And what a lovely host. 😍
Your eye makeup is as immaculate as the bamboo info in your video. You have a stunning garden, and you are yourself both talented and stunning. Thanks for sharing!
Great video! I love bamboos. Recently planted two clumps of fargesia. It's amazing how fast they respond to a heavy watering if they started to dry out. I thought I lost mine but they bounced back very well😊
You are 100% correct but unfortunately Bamboo is ridiculously expensive in the USA. I live in the Philippines and the identical bamboo we buy & sell here for $1-2 dollars is sold for over $65++ in the USA.
Thank you. You made me realize I was not watering enough. Desert/hot climate. Looking forward to better results this year. I had done the research, but you seem to have had the same experience with lack of water. Great experiment. Thank you and be well.
I love Bamboo, I have 2 varieties, black and red.. I’ve had them potted for the last 4 years or so, and next spring I will be taking them out of their pots and cutting each in half vertically.. I have watched someone do it on a RUclips vid. I live in the UK so I don’t think bamboos here can grow to the size as the ones in your beautiful garden. Thank you for all the valuable information. Maz
'stalks' don't grow back. You must cut the rhizome if you don't want it to spread. This woman is foolish. They're very possible to contain, they just require frequent attention.
Like asparagus and bindweed, the rapid growth comes from energy stored in the root system. So harvesting and cutting without giving the plant time to restore it's reserves will reduce it's ability to regrow. Hence the maturest plants with the greatest stored reserves will resprout more often and with greater vigour.
please help , i have just planted 500 bamboo plants on boundries of my 3 acre farm , My bamboos are 2 feet in hieght , i want them to grow faster , how much of NPK fertilizer should i give and through mixing in water or making layers?
You have provided the information I needed. I want to grow bamboo in above ground planters. Then utilize the bamboo. BTW, I'm in Santa Monica. THAT Santa Monica.
Ive got Bissetti bamboo, about 9 plants a good 8ft high but one set of plants lacks folliage the top third is barren this set of plants get a lot of wind during winter, most of it coming off the sea, were as the other plants that are protected by a big bay tree are doing really well, not sure what to do.
First off, woman to woman; you're super cute and I love your eye color. Second, the music in the background was perfect, I didn't really realize it until close to the end and thought, ahh thats why this video was so nice and calming to watch. And lastly, so full of all the information I was looking for along with visual examples. Perfect! 10/10!
If she wasn't cute and the content was the same there would be far less views. THAT is the truth of it. There is one gardener who was not blessed by being pretty but has one he'll of a body and she shows it off. Her views are overwhelming. If you take about 200,000 of those views away that would be a more accurate count of those who are actually interested in your verbal content. Hey.....I say it as it is. It's called "the Truth". But there is no such thing as truth anymore on social media and we are often censored for it. RUclips practices censoring everyday and it is un-American.
use containers i've found large old cast iron baths work well and use vinca or certain ivy's to grow over the sides if you wish to hide the bath - and choose less vigorous versions.
Help! i cut down about 10 mature bamboo stalks, dragged them out to open yard and cut them down to 3 foot lengths then put in yard waste bags for garbage pick up did i do more damage by spreading bamboo seeds into areas of my yard? would a preemergent nuke kill bamboo seeds?
Hi Sarah! thanks for sharing.. your bamboo's look very happy in your garden.. one thing about those "annoying" shoots, you know you can eat them.. when they pop out about 50cm.. and more then that - you can make some beautiful art with them. the shoots are traditionally used in cutlery, cups, mugs.. its beautiful and dense wood that is durable and water proof.. so you know, if you didnt already.. XX
Two years! Awesome video! Questions: 1. What type of soil do you have? (Clay, sand, pure black gold) 2. Wow, 2 years later! I wonder how are your bamboo doing? 3. What did the county/city ordinance say about maintaining the bamboo? 4. How deep does the bamboo rhizome system grow? I’m concerned with it growing too close to structures and compromising the foundation substrate. 5. Along with the bamboo barrier, could I use a 4”-6” thick cement trench wall? If so, how deep should I go? 6. How can you tell if you have a clumping or running bamboo? 7. If I grow nitrogen/nutrient providing Comfrey before the bamboo, would that suffice for feeding at least its nitrogen needs? 8. How tall did your bamboo grow? And how long did it take to get to that height? Thank you so much for your great help, patience and kindness in answering these questions! 😊
one maintenance activity I do is cut all the dead or even old culms out...and if you're completely bamboo ocd, you can shred/chip those culms/leaves and use that as a compost.
Greetings from the LooseNatural farm in Andalusia Spain where we currently live through a drought and we are creating swales and plant them with bamboo
Nicely done. Looking to grow bamboo on my property in the inland northwest. Some varieties do better than others in cooler zones. Anything will grow in SoCal for the most part. I was raised there.
Watering the perimeter of your bamboo patch, no problem. But how do you water the inner part of the bamboo patch? You can't even walk through there because it's so dense.
Can you please tell me the species of Bamboo you are showing in your yard? I am looking to grow a natural privacy fence and I think this would be perfect. I hear you keep saying Giant Timber Bamboo. Is that the technical name? Can you recommend a reliable source to get seeds or starter plants? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Not sure who's prettier, her or her yard!! (of course her😎) I agree with the comment about her voice being soothing. Been trying to grow blue bamboo here in central Florida without any luck. Although I tried germinate the seeds in a pot instead of paper towel. That's next.
Great video. How deep are you burying the barrier? I want to grow at my property, but have heard horror stories of it taking over. Thanks for the great info.
Im planning to plant these skinny bamboos not the giant ones, as for fencing purpose around my house. This blog is helpful💐, btw i find you very stunningly beautiful💐God bless! 👩👦
Local nursery here in LA. My recommendation is always to go to small local nursery and see what they have. If they don’t have any bamboo in stock, as them if they can special order it. That way you are more likely to end up with a variety that is suited to your climate.
I'm addicted to bamboo. We recently acquired 10 acres in south Florida and by the time I die, it's going to look like a jungle in Thailand.
Searched for bamboo, found this video that made me feel extremely calm. Thanks for sharing.
I emwanted to plant on my property in east tn for years! Thanks and I've gotta say your just simply beautiful! My goodness, breathtaking!

But, how do I get it to grow in a cold climate?
Thank you for the video. I've been looking for a privacy fence for my backyard garden too and now I know what to watch out for when planting bamboo.
I’m so happy that I found your channel. I was looking for information about Bamboo and I found you lol 😊
Compost is also available in your own backyard, from kitchen scraps. Plus, you avoid plastic sacks and shipping of tons of dirt
By planting bamboo, without you realizing it, you have contributed to saving this planet
Hi am from uk 🇬🇧 just came across your video Looking for bamboo BUT WOW YOUR PARTNER SO SO LUCKY to have you good video's seen a lot now 😊😊😊❤

Incredibly well spoken.
Hi, what is the variety of this very tall clumping bamboo?
I live in zone 7 (Niagara falls Canada).
I would love to have it as my fence privacy.
I like your video on growing bamboo. My wife, and I are gonna try growing some ourselves this spring and summer...

IF you cut a stalk of bamboo; THEN how many times can it resume growing back?
I would like to know this too

Wait 5 years before you cut. No joke.
