Dreamcatcher are actually a very unique group in KPOP because theyre the only ones who base their sound mostly on rock, hard rock, and even metal rock genres. Their b-sides do dive into other genres though; they’re very versatile. Also their concepts are based on “nightmares” so their video imagery is usually on the darker creepy side(lots of creepy dolls in other MVs). This particular song is like new waters for them because they experiment keeping their rock sound while mixing it with the current “trap” trend. If you look at their older MVs, you’ll find a more authentic rock sound. I recommend You & I, WHAT, and Good Night.

FYI: The Piri is a Korean double reed instrument, used in both the folk and classical (court) music of Korea. I believe that was the whistle sound.
the whistle sound is a flute - a piri has a lower, more reedy sound. I read some where they reference a piri in this song because in times of war(ancient?) the soldiers would use a piri to call for help - which is the 'emergency, emergency 'case here
That flute sound is a prerecorded sample, used in many other songs, even an Arab rapper, but Leez the producer of them used in a very good way

Well, only their title songs really are. They actually span a wide range of genres.
It’s weird, cause they have rock music with a poppy mixing with vocals up front, so it’s like a pop metal jaja

piri is a flute, as you can see when they say blow the piri they make those hand gestures. dreamcatcher vocals and instrumentation are pure fire. glad you guys could appreciate it despite it not being the type of music you would normally listen to - I know you missing your cutesy kpop hooks lol.
dreamcatcher is from a tiny company formerly called happyface entertainment but now renamed dreamcatcher company - yeah that's now tiny they are. you can tell from the mv it's not a high budget production but as you noted it's done extremely well with the color contrast and simplicity. this is what I mean by how many kpop mvs overdo it and have like a million colors all over the place and use auto-tune to make up for some vocal deficiencies. so for what they have to work with, they put out extremely good material.
When did it happen? I still see happyface entertainment on RUclips and Twitter. Just that Dreamcatcher got a new channel. Sorry I don't know much about this matter. Can you tell me what it is about??
@@taniasharma808 it was a couple months ago after dreamcatcher's comeback. you can look up more info on wiki. it was probably in the works since after dalshabet disbanded, they didn't have much left besides a few actors and dreamcatcher who was slowly gaining popularity. I think starting sometime last year they took off the happyface intro from mvs, something that existed since dalshabet's debut in 2011 at least.
According to the Wiki, Dreamcatcher Company is a sub-label focused on Dreamcatcher. The main company is still called Happy Face Entertainment. Personally, I really like the old HF intro jingle (makes me think of Minx).
@@PongoXBongo Exactly, they did the same for their new boy group, they created a company called D1CE Company to mange that group.
Whew okay, Dreamcatcher are my queens - I've been a fan of theirs since their (re)debut with Chase Me. (And let me tell you, it's not a Dreamcatcher MV if you aren't terrified at some point.) Dreamcatcher has one concept - they are the literal embodiment of 'nightmares' and each member has a specific one and all of their MVs are connected into a massive storyline, which makes them stand out from an MV perspective. Their sound doesn't win them immense popularity, but it's theirs and theirs alone - every title track has that hard rock vibe (Good Night is the hardest one, and Fly High is a bit softer and more... traditional girl group in a way?) but they experiment with other genres and sounds on B-sides. Another thing that makes them stand out is their incredibly intense and in sync choreography (intense as in cardio intense, they do a lot of movements and a lot of levels - everyone has different interpretations of 'difficult' but to me, their choreos are the hardest of girl groups and they even beat some of the boy groups.) which is only displayed a little in this MV since this one, they're trying to wake up from the nightmare realm (hence the loud horn at the beginning, the horn Yoohyeon (pink hair, main vocal with Siyeon - blonde hair) picked up and dropped, the doorways and being yanked through them or taken, the running around in a nightgown and bare feet, not running into each other to imply they're lost in a maze, etc) and they needed more shots rather than the dancing. I would highly recommend watching all of their MVs to understand a lot of the symbolism used in this MV.
Dreamcatcher also have some amazing dance choreographies! yall should check them out and react to their song You and I :)

Yay! I'm so happy to see that you reacted to Dreamcatcher! I've been so into them since their debut with Chase Me mv (Loved the call out to The Shining). You and I is probably my favorite one of all. What I love about Dreamcatcher is not only their music but their commitment to a specific concept. I have a real weakness for artists that tell stories through their songs and mvs. Dreamcatcher's dark or horror concept made me feel Vixx vibes when they first debuted but they definitely have their own original identity and sound.
Dreamcatcher fulfills my metalhead needs.

They're from a small company called Happy Face Entertainment, they re debut with 7 members with the name of DREAMCATCHER (Minx with 5 members before)
They experiment with different genres in their B-tracks (they are so good) like reggae (July 7th), electro (Sleep-walking), ballad (Emotion).
They have a lot of special clips bcz they love their fans (InSomnia) and give them a spectacular performance in their concerts.
They are really funny (extras forever) and are envolved into the creations on coreos and songs.
The 2 rappers in this video, are actually the 2 youngest members of Dreamcatcher. The one you said who had a more mature look (I call it her fierce look, because she can look so soft most other times) is Dami, she's 22. The other is is the maknae, Gahyeon, Who is 20.
Oh man, I keep forgetting that Dami is the second youngest (Minx maknae). Probably because of her "so done with this" vibe that she has on a lot of shows (like Krystal from f(x) or Soojin from (G)-IDLE), like she's older, wiser and tired of our shit, in a good way. ;)
We know you have too many videos to react to and we understand it's a process. We are just grateful that you finally got to Dreamcatcher :D they are mostly rock but they have a dope trap rnb song called 'Wonderland' that I highly recommend. Thanks again!
you need to change your avatar from happyface to dreamcather lol. but yeah, wonderland, july 7th, or and there was noone left would be more to their tastes genre wise. luckily these songs do have mvs (well 'special clips' which are basically lower budget mvs).

Dreamcatcher does some amazing covers of other artist's songs as well, usually as good or even _better_ than the originals. I recommend you check out *"Lucky Strike"* , originally by Maroon 5; *"Secret Love Song"* (solo by Yoohyeon), originally by Little Mix; and/or *"Faded"* (solo by Siyeon), originally by Alan Walker. ;)
