    Sure enough, my relay failed and i put the horn relay in its place until i can order one from a local auto parts store (not from Ama-you-know-who). My wife continues to think i am so smart because i can fix so many things when in fact it’s nice people like you who take the time to share things they learned. Thank you

    Worked for me...didnt need to use the copper wire. Replacing the relay with the horn is what made me AC work great (and add more AC/Pro in). THANKS for saving us $200 plus dollars at the mechanic!

    Exact what I needed for my sienna. Pulled the fuse and replaced with the horn fuse. Bingo! Got a new one at the local parts store and topped off the refrigerant. Much appreciated 👏👊🏻🎇

    I have a 2005 Sienna and my relay seems to be working ok. Pretty sure I need more freon, but the problem is intermittent. Sometimes we'll get "plain" air, and other times we'll get "sort of cold" air.

    That’s to jump the switch harness to see if the switch is bad but don’t keep the harness jumped replace the high pressure switch instead when you take the car to the shop they have to do everything like recover the Freon leak test and refill the system that’s why it come up to 300 or 400 dlrs you can’t replace the switch without doing a recover Freon system

  • @youdagoob
    @youdagoob Год назад +1

    Not sure why you need the wire procedure. Shouldn't simply switching the relays work to test if the relay is the issue?

    First I'll apologize for not subscribing but I don't own a 2006 Sienna but do have a 2017 Highlander that takes R134 which is no longer used in Canada. I watched your video to see if I could get a link to a source for this product. 2 years ago the Highlander was blowing " room temperature " air from the AC so I( took it to the dealership and they said that everything checked out |"ok " but the refrigerant pressure was a little bit low. They added some coolant and a leak sealer in case there was a very small leak. It worked well for just over a year ( don't need to use AC much around here ). This Spring it was back to blowing " slightly cool ". One thing you didn't mention is to use the gauge on the can to get the pressure in the right " zone ". Too much pressure can be a very expensive repair. Also, shake the can before connecting and hold the can upside down in the 12:00 o'clock position and turn to 3:00 and back while filling if the gauge shows low pressure. I'm going to try the fuse / relay thing first, so thanks for that. Still probably need to add refrigerant though so I'll have to figure that one out as well. Thank you for your help.

    You need to control how much freon you are putting in. Pressure is important, otherwise it can kill your compressor.

  • @DENicholsAutoBravado
    @DENicholsAutoBravado 2 года назад +1

    I'd be careful to not use the "extra cold" and "extra sealant" types of R1341a, always repair leaks, you don't want sealant lowering the efficiency of your condenser. The small channels can clog easily.

    The other day i had my ac running and all of a sudden freon started coming out of the back mid engine. I can smell the freon. So now my ac dont work and the compresor dont come on. Does this mean just find the leak on a hose and refill and the compresor should kik in?

    I have the same issue where the compressor clutch is not engaging. However when I jump across both the closer terminals on the pressure sensor wiring harness, the fans come on and when I jump the two outer terminals, nothing happens. I know the compressor clutch is good because I ran a hot wire to it and it engages. I swapped the relays as shown in the video, but that didn't do a thing. And the horn works with both relays. I'm at a loss, I have no idea what the problem is. BTW, I have a 2004 Sienna manufactured 12/2003.

    • @jonrhoades7842
      @jonrhoades7842 3 года назад +2

      @@danklimek7551 This is what I did. I replaced the wire from the fuse in the fuse box to the compressor. just to make sure that wasn't the problem. It didn't changed a thing. every once in a while, the compressor would engage and disengage repeatedly, so it was on off on off and stayed engaged and off for less than a second each time. I then disconnected the battery and crossed the negative cable with the positive cable for 30 minutes to drain all the capacitors in the system. When I started the engine and turned the ac on, it did the same on off cycle. At that point I gave up on it. I called my friend and told her to come pick it up, but ac was not working. An hour later I decided to take it for a drive to see how it did while driving. The ac worked perfectly and has been flawless since then. So I don't know what exactly fixed it.

    • @kevinjgwilson
      @kevinjgwilson 2 года назад +2

      What you are jumping is a low pressure switch. It stops the AC compressor clutch from engaging if the refrigerant is low. This prevents damage to the compressor. If the relay is good, compressor clutch works then its most likely your Sienna is low on refrigerant. You need to have the AC system pressure tested. I advise against adding automotive parts store refrigerant because any leaks introduces air and moisture into the system. The proper method to refilling the AC system is to boil the air and moisture out under vacuum. Then the correct amount of refrigerant and refrigeration oil is added back to the system.

    Hi Kirk, thanks for sharing the info! Would you know and can you make an explanation of if the relay and the amount of refrigerant is related to have one fail the other? Turns out my relay failed. I'd like to know if I should be refilling my refrigerant immediately, or if I have time to use the ac with just the relays switched. A response would be very appreciated!

I don't think you finished explaining that part of the fix/process. Trying to figure out if I have to keep this jumper in place this way going forward and what issues or possible issues leaving this in place might cause? Thank you for the follow up.
