herodotus - You can't beat a nice set of jugs! Mine are pottery beer tankards brought home from Africa. Pottery is ideal out there are it keeps your beer colder than glass and the tankard with the handle keeps the warmth from your had away from the cold beer. There is a method in the madness!
Andrew, the film was not aimed at Lardies or non-Lardies, just gamers in general. Sorry if some aspects left you confused, hopefully we will be able to cover them off in part three when it is released next week. Maybe if you could tell us what aspects you didn't understand so that we can address your issues directly? .
A question about SMGs in ChoC. Having started wargames in the 1970s with Charles Grant's rules that really squashed SMGs except for very close range, I've been interested to see the big difference in ChoC. Do you remember if this was from action accounts/weapons tests/'Combat' episodes or...? I prefer their greater power in ChoC but am curious about where people get their info from.
Good luck with the launch of this game. I'm an experienced WW2 wargamers, and I was left a little confused by this video. You clearly understood the rules, but they didn't come over particularly clearly to me. Perhaps in future, you might consider having a veteran Lardie explain the game / rules to a non-Lardie. This might help to make the videos clearer to the general wargaming community.
This looks like a great set of rules, but IMHO platoon is "too small" for WW2. I want to have tanks and platoons (plural) like the old strategy games, where it feels like you're commanding an army trying to take over a town or area, rather than a group of men trying to assault a building. That said though, if I can ever find people interested in this scale game, I think this would be my go-to game. The whole Patrol phase thing looks really great and adds a dynamic of realism. All of the Lardies games look really neat to me but in my area of the USA, there isn't a lot of historical gaming that I'm aware of so it's hard to find like-minded people. I'm lucky enough to have found a group playing Flames of War, which seems fun as well.
