Ja sam američki iz Bostona. Kao dječak sam gledao Dino Rada i nikada uistinu cijenimo svoje vrijeme u NBA sve do nedavno sam vidio Vlade Divac dokumentarni film o njemu, Dražen Petrović i bivše Jugoslavije nacionalni košarkaški tim.
Honestly ex-Yu was a really really small country considering how many sports greats it gave birth to. I'm Croatian and we always had great sportsmen/women, but so did the Serbs, and others! I remember ex-yu basketball team quite well and we gave much much pain and troubles to such basketball nations as USSR (!), Italy, Spain. so it's actually a small wonder.
thkalas Man, I agree yes Radja can be seen as some kind of a mix between McHale and Olajuwon, only not quite at their level about what they excelled at. But, on the other hand, being a mix is already a plus in itself, not a minus. Watch closely at his post moves jump shots from close distance and fade away shots. He didn't lack size either, nor willpower or focus like other non US great promises (see Darko Milicic...). But don't forget he was'nt just taught, he also played basketball for a long time only outside the US: he reached the NBA only by the end of his prime, after played also in Italia for Roma team. He was not so frequently challenged by lots of good players and by the high rythms of the NBA early enough. If he joined the NBA let's say even only 5 years sooner, he could have been a real force. That's the most I can say about it though...
I remember that game it was the last game in the boston garden. Sherman douglas took a 3 point heave either to tie it or win it for boston and it missed. Radja was amazeing in that game and Dominque Wilkins was playing out of his skin although he missed a crucial free throw that would of tied the score late in regulation. Chris Ford was fired after the season by Celtics GM M.L. Carr who took over as coach and pretty much drove the team into the ground after that.
ahh 95, this was the first year they weren't so good, i remember being mad for a long time that they got rid of gamble, he was money. dino was good offensively, but watching him try to rebound was brutal. everything was one hand with himn.
Some people talk about how Penny would have been a great player if he hadn't gotten injured...dude had a lot of time to prove himself before he got injured. he was always on the cusp of greatness, but you know what? dude was a fucking headcase.
@atonly everything from ur childhood is remembered more fondly than what is going on today... (the those were the days saying no matter how good or bad the past and future was or will be)
I don`t know whay did they destroy this young Celtic team: Rada, Fox as young guys whit some good 3 or 4 players and Celtics could of been good players
don't want to sound like I know everything but in my opinion, Radja was an hard worker so he improved a lot over the years and he became a truly great player. No doubt about that. But toni was better because he was essentially a genius, and in my opinion he never completely express all his talent, playing with the bulls. Because there was Jordan already, and Jordan is a team on his own. So kukoc is better. At Jugoplastika Kukoc was better. But sure we are talking about two extraordinary players.
Pau is perhaps better at offense, but in defense Dino was a lot better. Shaq once said that he had never been so well guarded as Dino Radja. I still think that Dino was better than Sabas.

Well done by Dino. Good play on court, and on top of that, he used his experience to emotionally disrupt Penny.
Proud he has been member of my team Panathinaikos B.C
Great center!!!

The ex-Yugoslav nations have always had fantastic athletes!
He could move like McHale and Olajuwon.
are you stupid? Maybe radja could move similarly to Mc Hale , but are you that stupid to make a comparison with Olajuwon?

Best european player in boston

This guy is Brandon Roy before Brandon Roy, same knees. Love to see this guy moving like Mchale.

As good as Dino was, no one on the Celtics can hold back Shaq. Just too dominant and the Magic made it to the NBA finals that year too.
Montross is a bust. And Pervis Ellison was too small.
Dino veliki majstor košarke. Dva ili tri puta je dao koš preko mladog Shaq-a, bez imalo straha! Fenomenalna partija!
i love that google translate grammar :)
i appreciate the effort though.
cheers!
congratulation!!Radja ( ゚Д゚ノノ"☆パチパチパチパチ

Radja was so much better than Kukoc. I just remember my friends and I arguing over the two.
