    I see a lot of people saying don't blame Islam when it is only a handful that are extremist but is it really only a handful and not Islam mentality itself that is the problem?
    For example the Muslim guest on this show from Doha, "condemns" the killing but at the same time thinks that those killings were a natural reaction for insulting Islam. He is saying why do people have to draw it in the first place? Which questions the "drawing" instead of the killing. That to me paints the typical muslim mindset.
    China and Japan have been insulting each and are deeply divided on their WWII history to a point of calls for boycott and mass protest. Are Chinese men going around Japanese buildings and shooting them? To even think of it is so outrages to a point of it being taken as a joke but for muslims it is just a "natural reaction".

    It was interesting to see how the questioner's focus -- on how this incident will play into the far-right narrative of Muslim values being incompatible with European values -- was essentially rejected by all three of his guests. Rather than focusing on this group or that group's feelings of incompatibility, let us take a moment to realize that "live and let live" Europe is not essentially to blame for "incompatibility". Europe needs to keep working harder to integrate into their societies the people who work so hard to build its economy. But vigilante religionism is illegal and not welcome in Europe; the people are (but they will be satirized like everybody else--welcome).

    I realise the huge majority of Muslims in the world are kind, decent people, but there are still very serious problems that Muslims need to acknowledge and not merely sweep under the rug. - There is no objective method of correctly interpreting the Quran or Hadith. If you are really going to imply that because of their interpretation extremists do not represent Islam than it is equally fair to say that nobody does. As much as we'd hate to admit it, the Quran is able to be interpreted in a violent way which is a large problem on it's own. We need to be honest and admit that this is something that simply couldn't be done under the teachings of other religions like Buddhism or Jainism. Islam unfortunately, is more prone to violence than other religions and sadly in todays world that's seen as a controversial thing to say when it shouldn't be.
    [WE NEED TO STOP BLAMING MUSLIMS BUT AT THE SAME TIME STOP PRETENDING LIKE IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ISLAMIC SCRIPTURE!]

    • @BradGatton

    • @mauriceharting5877

      I would say that ANY Muslim who takes the Quran seriously and literally will by nature be violent and intolerant, just like false prophet Muhammad was as history tells us. Muhammad was a caravan thief, a murderer, a liar, a rapist and a child molester ... hardly someone we should imitate in our lives.

  • @deniska0
    @deniska0 11 месяцев назад +3

    Douglas is absolutely right. The rhetoric of this ‘journalist’ was diverting from the cause of the problem, trying somehow turn it to reaction from ‘far-right’. Worrying how French, that he called ‘far right’ would react to these murders. Bringing Muslim cartoonist who posing his stupid questions undermining European values of free speech. ‘Oh why would anyone want to draw Mohammad bla bla bla’. The question is not why, the question is that in free society people are entitled to it. There should be really short talk to people like that, if you don’t like there is the door. It’s astonishing that no one from so called ‘religion of peace’ condemns these attacks, no protests, no support of the victims. I mean they should be really defend the idea that their religion is compatible with western values if they believe it is.
    But they do not.
    It gets to a point where the West have to separate fully church and the state, removing any privileges for any religions that still exist in their countries in order to get Islam loose these privileges as well. This is the only Europe can get rid of Islam.

    An opinion can be offending, but that does not mean one should apply self censorship. I would never go as far with my freedom of speech as Charlie Hebdo did, because I think you're offending people without reason, but if people want to offend, go ahead. I for one am sometimes offend because Muslim friends of mine say I will go to hell because I don't believe in Islam, but should I kill them? No, of course not. I think you need to have the right to do whatever you want but you must never use violence.

    Simple rule: rights come along with responsibilities. Rights are not risk-free, yes you can draw whatever the fuck you like, but as this Douglas dude said "Muslims should not expect non-muslims to obey the islamic values", one should not expect that they can just offend and insult others, without enraging some to the point that they want to kill you.
    It's like I have the freedom of going up to a girl on the street and say "fuck you bitch", but I cannot expect that she is not going to give me a slap on my face.

    • @biosnap_artstudio
      @biosnap_artstudio 10 лет назад +24

      you are comparing the slap on a face with 12 people executed in cold blood...are you seriously doing this?. Freedom of speech IS PRECISELY to speak up your mind without expecting to be killed for it, you might be hated for your expression or in some countries even jailed for a while depending of the country, but not EXECUTED for it. Again THIS IS A WESTERN, DEMOCRATIC value, IF MUSLIMS don't like it or just don't get it, then must consider to go and live in Saudi Arabia, period!... If I for example dare to go to Iran, I will be forced to use veil as a woman, then, likewise Muslims must understand the Western values when living there...

    • @XiangC6
      @XiangC6 10 лет назад +2

      biosnap nope, you're having a jumping logic and some pre-assumptions here.
      Ever in my comment, have I justified the "slap over my face"? No, I never tried to justify that. I was only saying that there are consequences to consider, but not justifying the consequences.
      And more importantly, as much as I could then sue the woman for "physical assault" as she slapped me, those 3 killers will be brought to court and sued for whatever crime it's called. One can never be 100% sure that she/he will not be killed next morning, but laws exist to assure us that those who commit murder will pay their price too. And this is also the method how "the western democratic value" is enforced. After-all, it's not like these gunmen could kill and walkaway and never brought to justice (like how some countries with "western democratic values" could wage wars causing millions of death over either some empty accusations or set-up false-flags, and just get away with it)
      And please... don't act like "OMFG WE HAVE WESTERN DEMOCRATIC VALUES!!!! U LIVE UNDER MY ROOF, SO U GO BY MY RULES" and that sort of shit, people kill for many different, often ridiculous reasons here in the west as well. If you were sitting right in front of me with a gun and I said all these to your face, you'd probably have shot me already.

    • @7PropagandaPanda7
      @7PropagandaPanda7 10 лет назад

      unbeliveable to compare such things, shame on you for trying to justify such an horrendous actwhilst defending the idelogy that caused it. according to your reasoning, people critisiing hitler back in 1940 had to expect death "deservingly". to state something like that speaks of enourmous stupidity and lack of thinking things through

    • @XiangC6
      @XiangC6 10 лет назад

      7PropagandaPanda7 Please refer to my first reply to biosnap and please point to me where in my sentence have I justified the "slap" or the killing? the killers of this incident are different from a government of a region with no freedom of speech, because these governments have the power to get away with what they do, while these killers will be arrested and brought to justice. The freedom of speech is fundamentally being protected by the law, that if someone kills me for what I say they will pay the price too.
      I think things through, while some of you seem to only think things through half-way.

    • @mercedescl
      @mercedescl 10 лет назад +3

      XiangC6 Lol. Your logic is totally stupid. Yeah, if someone was driving a Ferrari and carrying a suitcase full of cash in the middle of the night in bad parts of Detroit, and then he got robbed, he made a stupid choice. But that still doesn't cover the fact that he is a VICTIM. Should he do it? No. But that still doesn't mean the crime is not a crime or his action is responsible for the crime. It is the one who decided to rob him who should be totally responsible for the crime.
      It doesn't matter what Charlie published. They don't deserve to die. There is no respect if you expect to be respected with death threats.

      Rasel Rejy
      "...martin luther king, ghandi, thats an example of what freedom of speech, dude. not provoking..."
      Many found their speeches provoking and offensive. In fact, many white supremacists felt that the speeches of MLK needed to be silenced because they found it offensive, the very same justification that the shooters of the Charlie Hebdo cartoonists had. In fact, it's a pretty similar justification that even a lot of PC liberals give too- those cartoonists were just too insulting!
      "...by being ignorant or else this world wouid be full of hate, wer wars will kick off, if everyone started doing it."
      I think the hate and ignorance has a lot to do with religion and what it preaches.

I've thought of Archimedes, Fleming, Einstein and others, and wondered, where is the muslim equivalent. There isn't one. I've thought of Turner, and others of intellect and artistry and I've thought, where are the muslims. Nowhere. They have contributed nothing to human advancement for more than centuries. They are stuck in a time warp, and their only response is violence. We have a simple choice - either accept that which is in our midst, or destroy it before it destroys us.

      Likely but surely you won't be EXECUTED, does that how your brain really work? Leave religion, it poisons you.

      False comparison. Youre trying so hard to justify killing of this Abdul just because hes religious feelings are hurt. Muhammad is a person, holocaust is a human tragedy. You can mock or criticize religion and its founders specially Muhammad was an evil person. You cant make fun of holocaust because its a tragedy where a certain group was slaughtered.

      Big difference! The victims of the holocaust were real, living people, millions of them brutalised, tortured & killed. Mohammed is just a fictional character, he wasn't murdered!! One stupid story about a "prophet" doesn't equate to a Holocaust and the comparison is just grotesque..

    I think Douglas Murray appeals to freedom and rights too narrow-mindedly.

    The Quran, The Opening Chapter.
    1. In the name of God, Most Gracious,
    Most Merciful.
    2. Praise be to God,
    The Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds;
    3. Most Gracious, Most Merciful;
    4. Master of the Day of Judgment.
    5. Thee do we worship,
    And Thine aid we seek.
    6. Show us the straight way,
    7. The way of those on whom
    Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace,
    Those whose (portion)
    Is not wrath,
    And who go not astray.

    To be honest the interviewer totally owned Murray when Murray tried not to answer the interviewer's opening question, which was sensible, and instead Murray went off on a irrelevant rant @ 5:20. Disappointed in Murray's performance really. I've heard him before and he's usually quite coherent.
