When I was 12, I visited a doctor because my acne wouldn’t go away despite my efforts. The doctor gave me a skincare routine, but it didn’t include sunscreen. Plus, the face wash was too drying, and the moisturizer was too oily. I eventually quit that routine and started researching skincare. That’s when I came across your content, which helped me feel understood. Many people told me skincare wasn’t for teens, but you proved otherwise. Thank you for that! 💗 Initially, I assumed I had oily, acne-prone skin, but now I’m unsure if it’s changed due to hormones. Does skin type change over the years? I also had hyperpigmentation, especially on my chin, likely from skipping sunscreen for a year. I tried the Dot & Key Niacinamide 10% and Cica serum and sunscreen, which worked well at first but later irritated my skin. Watching your videos, I learned about the skin barrier, so I switched to Dot & Key’s 72Hr Hydrating Gel, which helped, but my acne remained. Not to mention, the only thing that has worked very well for my acne is a spot treatment called Adapalene Microspheres + Clindamycin Phosphate Gel. It has been effective in clearing my acne, and I rely on it a lot. I’m less insecure about acne now, thanks to you, but it’s still painful, so I want to heal it. I often use Dot & Key because it’s affordable and effective in India. My main issue now is hormonal acne. I eat a lot of junk food (I tried a green skincare smoothie but couldn’t stick to it-any non-green smoothie recommendations?). I no longer have pigmentation but get small bumps on my cheeks and forehead. Are these closed comedones? I suspect my dry cheeks and oily nose mean my skin is combination. Recently, I used Vaseline’s Healthy Bright Niacinamide Body Lotion on my face, but it didn’t absorb well and irritated my skin. I switched back to my Dot & Key moisturizer, which provided relief. I think my skin needs hydration, especially since I’ve been sick and skipping routines. For my planned skincare routine, I’m considering using a gentle and hydrating face wash, the Dot & Key Strawberry Brightening Moisturizer (with niacinamide, peptides, and hyaluronic acid), and the Dot & Key Blueberry Sunscreen (to repair my skin barrier).
