  • Sanchi is a world heritage site situated at a distance of 50 km from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. In this video, we explored the Udaigiri Caves, & the Sanchi Stupa and learnt about the history of these historical monuments of India.
    Date of Journey - 10th May 2024
Just In case you have missed watching our Previous episode 1 of Chanderi Heritage Monuments. You may check the video on the below link.
    • EP - 1 A Day in Chande...
Hotel in Udaigiri - We started our day in the morning at our Hotel in Udaigiri “Hotel Jungle Resort” which is an MP tourism property. Overall the Hotel Ambiance & surroundings were great.
We did this video in collaboration with MP tourism, we got hotel room on complimentary basis, rest all costs were borne by us.
Tariff - 4,050 on Double Occupancy for the May Month.
Udaigiri Caves - We travelled around 3 km from our Hotel & reached to visit the “Udaigiri Caves”. Mr Ranjeet was our Tour guide who was going to visit us in the Caves.
Udaigiri Caves have a remarkable collection of sculptures that were carved into the rocks around the 4th and 5th centuries AD by the “Chandragupta Vikramaditya”. Udayagiri Caves complex consists of twenty caves, of which one is dedicated to Jainism and Hinduism.
Overall the experience was great to visit the “Udaigiri Caves”. Learned so much about the old sculptures. If you are visiting the Udaigiri Caves you should must do the guided tour here.
Best Time to Visit Udaigiri - October to Mid-March
Sanchi Stupa - After this, we visited the “UNESCO World Heritage Site” of Sanchi - “Sanchi Stupa” & met here our guide Mr Rakesh Ji tour guide of Sanchi.
    Sanchi - Rakesh Guide -9301252828
Sanchi Stupa is one of the oldest Buddhist monuments in the country and the largest stupa at the site. Sanchi Stupa was built in the 3rd Century BC by the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka & it’s believed to house the ashes of the Buddha.
The complex is believed to have served as a primary educational institute for Ashoka's children- Mahendra and Sanghmitra, who went on to spread the words of peace & harmony from Sanchi.
Entry Tickets - Rs 40 Per Person
Tropic of Cancer - On the way to Bhopal we stopped at the “Tropic of Cancer” Point.
Bhopal - We reached Bhopal in the evening & met there Mr Sheo Shekhar Shukla Ji the Principal Secretary of Tourism & Culture Madhya Pradesh & learnt about Tourism diversity in Madhya Pradesh.
After this, we ended our day in Bhopal. After this video you will see an episode on Bhopal, something like “A Day in Bhopal MP ”

I observed the mesmerizing architecture of Sanchi Stupa, created too long ago by the Indian artisans, too great to watch and know the glorious history of the ancient Indian. Ashoka was the greatest emperor in Indian history, who turned a peace-loving king from a cruel one. His efforts to spread Buddhism in India and other parts of the world are phenomenal.

It was really nice to hear your interaction with the secretary, tourism Madhya Pradesh. Sir has given wonderful and precise information about tourist places in Madhya Pradesh.
After watching almost all of your tours I feel that Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, are very keen in promoting their states as tourist destinations.
Madhya Pradesh Series is becoming very interesting day by day. You should have shown Sanchi Stupa a little bit more, especially the domes.

First terracotta images of Ganesha are from 1st century CE found in Ter, Pal, Verrapuram, and Chandraketugarh. These figures are small, with an elephant head, two arms, and chubby physique. The earliest Ganesha icons in stone were carved in Mathura during Kushan times (2nd-3rd centuries CE). Source wikipedia.

The oldest statue of Ganesha in India is a terracotta sealing of a bull with an inscription in Brahmi script, which was found in Mumbai's Chor Bazaar ¹. Experts from Dharwar University, Deccan College, Epigraphic Society of India, and Ashmolean Museum evaluated the sealing to be from the fourth or fifth century AD, making it 150 to 200 years older than the oldest Ganesha idol in China ¹.
