This was one of my favorite moments of the entire presentation. Montsy is the epitome of grace and vocal beauty. The relationship with Jose Carreras was the icing on the cake! I ESPECIALLY love when at the end, he kisses her hand as if to honor her, but she gestures as if to say"Oh no! this is a duet, and for BOTH of Us!" 🥰
Fantastic. The regard they have for each other is clear. She took him under her wing, hearing and seeing his promise; he adored her. The way she spins out delicate notes and then lets loose a magnificent cavalcade of sound is unmatched; his sweet and gorgeous tone makes us want to listen forever.
GREAT, GREAT, GREAT VOICES !!! SIMPLY WORLD VOICES !!! VOICES PRIDE FOR THE WORLD CULTURE !!! GOD BLESS YOU FOR VERY, VERY, VERY THE BEAUTIFUL EMOTIONS FOR US - THE FANS IN ALL WORLD !!! ALWAYS WITH A LOT OF LOVE AND LIGHT YOUR ETERNAL FANS Nadya Mirkova and friends from Sofia - Bulgaria
Although Sutherland was in this Gala. And Pavarotti and Price sang the equally difficult duet from Verdi's "Ballo", this is the most spectacular moment from this Gala. Simply stunning... I love how Caballe's voice gets bigger and bigger as she soars higher and higher. Of course, Carreras is great, but Caballe has such a huge top and the most beautiful voice. There is also an equally fantastic Chenier duet by Franco Corelli and Renata Tebaldi at the Met. In that version, Corelli rein supreme!
I was lucky enough to be there, and I totally agree with you. This, the act one finale from l'Italiana in Algeri and the trio from Rosenkavalier were my favourites.
Here’s another one of her great moments that I’m sure Milanov would also prefer over other incarnations of Carmen ruclips.net/user/shortsrx-s4ovvtTI?feature=share
Caballe is one of my favourite sopranos always singing wonderfully as here, BUT do I hear a young aristocrat girl? Am I transported in time and place? Not quite. Jose, not in my view at the same vocal level as Caballe, nevertheless does sound like an impassioned poet here. So, a fine enjoyable performance but neither soloist is best suited to reach the absolute ideal. Corelli and Callas perhaps?
The best ever voices of operatic❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ MONTSERRAT Caballé & José Carreras
Madame Caballe died yesterday. I love this. I was at the Met gala and this was one of the highlights for me.
Unicos, inigualables

José had such a lovely voice at this time. ❤

In memoriam of James Levine who died today, a favourite piece with Montserrat and Jose !
Bravi Carreras and Caballe !!! And bravo James Levine !!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I had to watch this to clear my head of Anna Netrebko and Yusef Eyvazov
Here Here!!
LOL LOL
Not to mention the vapid conducting of the new music director of the Met ...
Agree. Call it vocal cleansing!
Wonderful duet!!! Great 🌹🌹🌹💓💓💓💓👍👍🤩🤩🤩
Now THAT'S the way to open a gala (second half). Wonderful. Maybe someone can upload a version where the sound actually matches the image.
Vivano Caballé e Carreras sempre insiem !!!
Thank you RUclips for bringing these moments to us. I love RUclips and this per&romance in beyond phenomenal.

Various reasons this surpasses the other two performances mentioned, the most glaring that the two Spanish singers had deep mutual affection.
❤❤❤🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦🥰🥰🥰
I won't either. One of the pinnacles of operatic duets.
It's a shame the video is out of sync. Caballe is superba, as always
It just takes away from the whole feeling of the event. There used to be another video somewhere that was in sync.
@@corneliuswhite5139 I couldn't enjoy it with the bad sync.
@@horseman4now Just listen & don't watch.
Here’s the correct sync ruclips.net/video/NxBwLXFIk-c/видео.html
James Levine
mui belo
Che bel sorriso gioioso
Adesso sorridera' con angeli, arcangeli e cherubini
@Shomi701 James Levine. he is the principal conductoor at the Met.
CuddlyGayBear Not anymore....Oh, how the mighty have fallen!!
Minunata opera rar cântata.are nevoie de mari soliști..❤.
Brilliant, but terribly out of sync. I put the phone down, and just listened to the music!!
Terrie Tackett Well worth listening to

Emilio Lupiañez Perandres Celletti apparently doesn’t think much of Ponselle, Rethberg, Muzio, Flagstad, or Sutherland!
Here’s another one of her great moments that I’m sure Milanov would also prefer over other incarnations of Carmen

It's not an ingenue role. What you hear is a superb soprano singing wonderfully. Get over yourself, Harold.
And Callas towards the end of life said that Caballero eclipsed her after seeing her in Paris. (I know they were friends)
Povero Carreras ...
