I Found Rurik’s (Founder of Russia) Grave (d.879) in PRIOZERSK of Leningrad Region (Korela Fortress)

- Little travelog from Priozersk, the town in Leningrad Region, located around the confluence of Lake Ladoga and Vuoksa river.
It is the place where by the legend in 879 buried Prince Rurik, the founder of Russia.
But the last 800 years of the history of Priozersk is related to Korela Fortress, an outpost of Old Russia on its northwestern borders.
In different times, Priozersk used to belong not only to Russia but also to Sweden and Finland. So, Priozersk also know as, Kexhold (Sweden) and Kalisalmi (Finnish).

Nice historical city close to the border of Finland. It wil be great to see the city summer time.
My map of Russia just arrived today. It is framed and hung by the desk! Now I can see where in Russia these towns are. Love the Scandinavian flavor of the town.
You should’ve bought Atlas of Russia😉
Ooooh! Good idea. I'll see if I can find one.@@GoodFella-wi7gw
Kexholm, in Swedish. :)
I love maps too, and find them fascinating. Last year, at a local thrift shop, I found a car atlas of Russia (and almost the entire former Soviet Union, except for a corner around southern Uzbekistan), printed around two years after the dissolution of the USSR! In good condition, too. It's in four series of pages, with wider and wider scale, so the most close-up scale is reserved for the central part around Moscow and the heart of European Russia, and the one with the most land per page was used for Siberia, of course! :) Masses of names, both in Cyrillic and in Latin script, a great guide.
А вы слышали про глобус украины?)
из Приозерска моя дочь ездила на Валаам волонтером в монастырь на острове, очень понравилось, собирали белые грибы, сливу в монастырском саду, варенье варили для монахов.
Sergey, is there any possibility of you hosting tours of Russia in the future ? So many of us would love to visit and you would be the best travel guide in the land !! Many thanks and keep up your amazing work.

Beauteous Sergey. The bells - wonder if they are still functional- to hear them would be a wonderful joy. Godspeed
Wow! thank you for the video. to put a face on Rurik is so fascinating.
Enjoyed learning that the red building close to the start of the video is an example of Finnish architecture. Also seeing the buildings constructed by German prisoners of war. A nice town. Amazing that you were able to find Rurik's tomb!
Thanks
Have been waiting for this Kexholm trip!

Another good one. Thank you.
Thank you very much for your videos. I saw the video you did after Tucker Carlson’s visit. Excellent. Beautiful and magnificent Russia. Moscow amazing. My paternal grandparents were from Russia and Lithuania. They immigrated to US in 1913. I pray for peace. Love from California.
Absolutely lovely!
Thank you Sergei!
Another great tour of your country, what are the laws there concerning drones? It would be nice to see some drone footage of the lake areas this summer.
Хорошего дня!
Cool video! Loved the history and the resting place of the founder of the Motherland. And wow on your drive home! We just got 5” last night. Finally feels like winter for a bit! ( It’s going to be 45-50 F. next week 😔)
Great video! ✌️❤️
Thank you for this video. I really like that you take us in the shops, cinema and restaurant, it gives a glimpse of how it looks like in Russia. I enjoy that you tell about the historical dates and events that happened. The architecture is very interesting as well. I live in Canada, so the snowy roads and the snowfall is also something common here in winter, one moment it's nice weather and an hour later big snow.
Great vid!
Thank you for your interesting documentaries.. culturally and historically very interesting! And your camera work and your entertainment are very professional, I really enjoy watching your true-to-life reports, greetings from Vienna
Thankyou so much Sergey, I love seeing your videos of Russia, it looks so beautiful, I've always wanted to travel there 🇦🇺
As a Swede, this was a really interesting video, thankyou and greetings. 🙂
I love the tour guides. ❤
Wow. Thank You so much for sharing your history with us.
Hallo to all in Russia bless you all ❤ from tony and Kathy from uk

Very, very nice town.
By the way this hamburger must have been much better as the one that tastes all over the world the same. I have got a preference for diversity and to be able to get to know the flavours of other culinary cultures. That is what it makes life richer in impressions and chances to get to know the unknown.
Lovely presentantion of the town of Priozersk, which their population of around +18.900 seem to love it as the buildings and the rest of the infrastructure - even been ancient buildings - is so well kept.
Thanks for your historical accounts, so great to get to know more.

8:45 while in the burger place behind Sergey you can see a Vault Boy from the Fallout series. Pretty cool! And hey don't feel bad about there not being McDonalds or Burger King. they both are absolute garbage!
As a Swede i find this video interesting, good job.
I just wanted to correct you. That is NOT the grave of prince Rurik. That is "just" the memorial stone there!
My guess is that his grave is in Kiev where he ruled from

So Rurik was Scandinavian? I just found out that Im 32 percent scandinavian. Got my DNA done. Does that mean Im Russian?
Anatoly Fomenko after mathematical research on chronology, proposes that Aeneas from Troy on the Bosphorus and Ryurik are the same guy, misdated by medieval Scaligeri (no computers for vast research then) . He usually is portrayed with an 'ottoman' style pointy helmet too, but then, russian, sythian, scandinavian and scotts were parts of an empire, not a race. Think horse heads on viking ships. Pe-rsians, or P-russians.... the Rus-horde Empire.
@@helenscoffield,, interesting ,, but the Red Haired Green Eyes were Thracian,, and Sythian,, and had an area in Crimea also,, Thracians never became an Empire,, but they colonised into every land and mostly they are known as "Mercenaries for Hire".
.
Did you know that Ghengis Khan was 1/2 Thracian,, yes indeed he was.
propaganda divides families, the Russians are half-brothers of the Scandinavians and the English (I would say of the Scots as well), and yet, this great family from the north is at odds.
Dea-shláinte agus neart chun tosaigh ar Mháthair Rúis agus ar an gcine daonna ar fad a sheasann leis an Rúis
