  • Serving her community has always been a top priority for 2Lt Cara Little. Before joining the CAF, she worked as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Recent events in Europe, and her family’s military background helped her decide that a career in the CAF would be a great way to continue serving her community and country. #MyCAFStory

    Never really thought about doing this in my 30s......definitely considering it. I'll serve under Pierre though.

      I also will serve on a new PM I do not want to serve with what Trudeau with all the stuff he's doing.
      was planning on going for RMC but that have to be scratched due to my age and knowledge I may not even make the cut hahaha

    I would love to join the CAF, but my car is too small to fit a mattress.

      Any spec trade is just about $80k annually after training, hardly need to live in your car at that wage

    So glad I never joined the CAF 30 years ago. I have a great paying city job. Civilian life is a million times better. My friends who got out hated the job.

      Great if you are a citizen bud, because it can take you around two years to join if you are a permanent resident. I applied last year and they are still doing the security clearance from last six months . I wonder why our military can’t hire another company to do the security clearance for CAF applicants because the existing company has a year long backlog! Good luck

      ​@@HardeepSingh-my3re it took me 2.5 years to get in. I go off to BMQ on April 20th. Just gotta stick to it and don't lose focus on the end goal.

      @@CadWeapTech omg 2.5 years!!! No other job takes such long time! I am trying my best to stay focused on my goal of joining but its kinda get discouraging to just hold my life two years just coz CAF can’t do background checks quickly, like I am 29 already and paused everything else in my life coz i want to get my forces job before any other major life decision. But thanks for showing positive sign that it could take time and the outcome would be positive at the end. Appreciate it bud

    The whole video is a drag and depressing. Is it the message? Join the military and be depressed? Even the background music tries to put you to sleep.

      The military is not depressing. The military changed my life. I love the CAF. The people in the CAF are 10x better than the civilians you meet in the workforce.

      Just gotta put your head down and go for it. It won't be easy as just for me to get sworn in has taken 2.5 years but if you don't lose the end goal in mind then it will all be worth it in the long run. Pick a job that you feel you could do for decades with ease. For me I found weapons tech (Land) 00130 but everyone is different

    If you want people to actually join, Speed up the background checks. Plenty of people I know are applying, but it takes so long to hear back that they end up getting a better paying job in the private or public sector.
    You dont need to remove the aptitude tests, or lower the standards.

      Exactly my thoughts and situation. I applied last year in june and they are doing my background check from last six months. Every time I call them they tell me that it could easily take another year or more . Its so discouraging like I am wondering everyday should I start another carrer , job etc and I think thats most of applicants end up doing

      2.5 years from start to finish for me. Not to mention I had to go to two different requitment centres to actually get a recruiter that wanted to help me get in. Moved from Ontario to new Brunswick and got in within 6 months of opening my profile back up.

    Before my brothers from Basic forsook me and left me to deal with terrorism myself, I wanted to be in the CAF, probably a technologist of the sort. I was my WOs most athletic and committed during Cadets but they couldn't be there for me.
    That's when I realized I didn't want to fight for somebody else's rights when my own humanity was defiled on my own soil.

    Yeah tried to get back 20 years ago after getting out after 17 years of service and was given the run around of having to back bootcamp and even trades training for my old trade now too old, snooze you lose looks like Justin finished what his Daddy Pierre started.

      Yup, this is the sad reality of the CAF in 2024, it pushes people like myself to get out of this mess. They will be soon stuck with an army of snowflakes.

      @@CadWeapTech Nothing wrong with that and the new military will be a normal thing for you since you haven't experienced anything else.
      Old timers just have a hard time in general with the lack of discipline the new regulations bring when discipline is supposed to be a core value of the military.
      Btw, it is kind of weird that your account name is something that you're not even qualified as yet...

      I suggest seriously paying attention in school so you can score high on the aptitude test. I wanted the air force as well but couldn't score high enough for the job I would have wanted so I ended up getting in the army. Air force isn't easy to get into but once you're there it's a blast. I have a buddy that's a AVN tech and he can't get enough of it....plus he makes a good amount of money

    I very recently discovered that the CFAT is no longer a requirement to get into the Canadian Forces. I'm a dyslexic person, and aptitude tests rattle my brain, no matter how much I tried. I have wanted to serve for my whole life, and I think I now have a terrific chance. I'm so excited to learn that I might now be able to fulfill a life long dream.

      Just a heads up I made the same mistake yesterday well not mistake I don't think but you will have to take a test still ... start studying you can do it

      Its so dystopian. Like going back to the 40's ... Who does long division in their late 20s??? Last time i did that I was in grade school.
      High school doesn't do long division so even when your 18 the last instance of using long division was a literal decade ago. I honestly dont remember it. I dont remember how to do it. It is not part of my life and hasn't been for at decade.
      Now you think thats bad for a guy from the 90's era ? We had a decent educational system back then. ... Think of how bad it is for people coming from our current educational system.....
      Were looking at a serious problem. That test needs to be scrapped not only because its outdated but because it is a threat to national security and sovereignty.

      The CFAT is still required. Recruiting centres are currently utilising it if they have SECURE ZONE status which is posted for public view on site and digitally if available.

    I know that being punctual, respecting authority, maintaining integrity, and generally placing high expectations on people is a "white" thing, but maybe if you focused less on being politically correct and more on being correct, you could recruit and retain quality soldiers better.

    The CAF needs to remove all documentation forcing members to take mRNA vaccines against their will. I've wanted to join, but if they think they can force this on their members they should give their head a shake. I want to serve and go to help train members in Ukraine, but if I go, they will force me to get vaccinated.

      If your fellow soliders can't trust you to take a shot in the arm to protect not only you but them as well from a threat that can't be killed with bullets how can they trust you to have their backs. You already displayed how little you care about everyone's well being. You are a very lucky individual

      The war will be over by the time you would be in a position to go there and train them and this is IF you would get the opportunity. People outside the service think it is so quick and easy lol

      If you would have put as much work in preparing in doing your CFAT again than the amount of whining in this post, you'd be a fighter pilot. It's OK, just continue being a victim and let the ones that want to work hard be in the military.

      Lol who doesn't work with numbers? Even as a concrete labourer I was doing a bit of mental math and working with precision equipment. Ur just Incompetent.

      @@gavins9846 I want you to get out a pen and paper (when you turn 27+ years old) amd write down 20 long division questions.
      Then I want you to do the questions in 30 minutes or less. See then just how much you remember from grade 6 basic math.
      NO CALCULATOR, NO GOOGLE. Then you will understand what the issue is.
      When I was in High School I was getting high 80s in math. I was excelling. But I have not used that long division stuff for a literal decade. Its not that I couldn't do it, its that I have literally forgotten how.
      That old adage "If you dont use it, you loose it" couldn't be more true.
