This is the condition these cars were in the 80s when me and my friends would buy them for cheap, they either had rust and paint or were primered but they were still badass and thats how we drove them.
During a slightly inebriated late night eBay search in 2006 , I bought an uncollectable 69Charger with a 318 . This car was a rainbow warrior with patina....looking back now I almost regret restoring it to its b5 blue paint and white top.
Watching this old ratty muscle cars, reminds me a story i'm writing, and the protagonist have a 69 Ratty Charger, mixed with SuperBee and Roadrunner parts haha. I love it 💕💕
All thru the 80s and 90s, people would bug me with, "when are you gonna paint that thing?" I'd say, "when you pay for it". Guess I was ahead of my time. I thought my raunchy musclecars were cool long before the world did.
I love the idea of Rat Muscle. I wont compare it to a "rat rod" because they are purposely built to look ratty. A "rat muscle" car on the other hand is a car that has natural patina that you can drive daily. My idea of the perfect rat muscle car would have a restored interior, engine bay, undercarriage and suspension but a natural patina to the exterior. I wouldn't be afraid of shopping carts at the grocery store nor would i be afraid to drift it down a gravel road.i would definitely like some creature comforts like A/C and fuel injection.
Finally, some cars that are still affordable!... In all honesty though, I would bring them back to their glory days if I had them. Except for the winged cars, you can have them.
Rats remind me of cars that need to be saved,.......like when I was young. I’ve never bought a turn key classic,...they always start like this,...half junk, half cool. Always full of potential. Some become dream cars,....but it takes time,a new part here,....new rims n tires,...but these days rust is cool,....so no hurry! Unless it’s the frame,....or the leaf springs come up through the trunk,...or it’s a Fred Flintstone car with no floor boards. I’ve seen some rat cars that look dangerous to drive,...some have a spinning drive shaft coming right through the cab, covered by a bit of expanded metal. Others you can barely see out of. Always interesting to see the extreme examples though!
Nothing more fun than a muscle car that you can drive hard and not worry about the paint. I love blasting around the dirt in my Ratty '67 Fairlane.

Me too. I didn't have the time, money, or desire to mess with rust repair or paint, all my money went to go-fast parts.
My kinda cars. The only kind I've ever had. 3 Chargers, 3 Satellites, 2 Mustangs, 1 Camaro, 2 Polaras, 1 Fury, 1 Dart, 1 Duster, 1 Valiant, 1 Falcon, 4 Mavericks, etc...

Alternative title: cars always parked on the street
the Charger at 1:02 is owned by Chris Birdsong #junkerup, he named it Daisy and has a RUclips Channel if you want to see more

😭they r so beautiful thx rat
That spelling tho
What's the music? I love it.
These only got the clout with period engines. If you paint your patina and swap in an LS its a phony and should get out
Awesome rat muscle? Looks like a bunch of wasted muscle cars to me, some quite rare, needing TLC! Rat muscle? Not at all!!
You are wrong. That's all there is to it.
