People might argue that being a SEAL or something else along those lines is the most powerful job in the Navy. Nope...being an MS ( CS now) is, and always will be the most powerful job in the Navy. I am a former MS that served on BB-64 & LCC20...what this fellow cook says is spot on!
We always knew the most important people to know on the ship was an MS (Messman), an SK (Storekeeper), and a DK (Disbursing Clerk). They were the backbone of keeping a crew happy.
Many years ago the wife and I toured the Cobia and on the tour we noticed an elderly gentelman and his son speaking german and at the end of the tour they said his father was a german submarine vet and he said hoe the U.S. submarines were so technically advanced and that was a major factor in defeating germany .
I served in *SUBPAC* from 81-87. I just added a _slider and pint at the Submariner's Pub_ to my bucket list. _I don't live anywhere near there, so it may take me minute._ _Qualified Sailors_ get their first beer on the house? Did I hear that right?
God Bless OUR Veteran's - ALL of Them...Thank You, for Your Service...
A salute to you, a submariner, from a "surface" Marine! Thanks for serving and continuing to serve your community and our Nation.
God bless that Navy vet for making a place for other vets to congregate, share stories, feel comfortable and understood. Kiwi Pete
I've toured the sub twice through the years, next time I go up that way I'm definitely going to stop by the pub, great looking place.
Added to my bucket list

He's absolutely right about the cooks on subs, a gathering place for the crew. That's where we watched movies when they wernt serving chow.
