This is a beautiful boat, a gesture from the days when beautiful wooden boats were a symbol of the moneyed class, and who cares if sitting in the single cramped and awkward cockpit was not a particularly comfortable method of water transport? It's nice that such craftwork still exists, but probably not particularly important in the bigger scheme of boats and boating except as an example of extraordinarily fine craftsmanship and boat building that has resulted in what is nothing less than a work of art.
Just beautiful, excellent work, I do not think I could have sold her either, she is so beautiful and I know you will have a blast taking care of her and enjoying her.
That is one staggeringly fine piece of work you have there. In a time when we no longer have Masters of any craft, or in fact anyone of any real substance to look up to any more, you stand out like a flower in a sea of weeds and prove that the spirit of European creativity and ingenuity is still alive regardless of the circumstances we face.
wow such a really nice boat !!! just amazing !!! the only thing I would of done different would of put the exhaust more in the water so it would have that nice rumble bubble sound and be more quiet when putting in the bay .. other then that I LOVE THIS BOAT !!! It reminds me of an old High end sports car Hats off to you Dan !! Amazing JOB !
That's a good question! I would say the basic hull probably cost me around £2-3k in materials, time of course is another matter. The bulk of the cost though in any boat build is in the engine and fittings.
Cheers! I am only running at around half throttle here, I was having issues with the gearbox slipping and I still don't have the right prop on the boat. Still some tweaking to do.
Not much here, maybe 20mph. I had gearbox issues which I am currently getting looked at and I still don't have the right prop on the boat. The hope is to get it set up properly this year and I should see around 30-35mph with the current engine setup.
A 1500 Ford engine, approx 60hp at the moment. Not sure on speed as I am still getting it set up correctly but probably around 30mph. I am intending to tune the engine over the winter.
@@DanLeeBoatbuilding great engine choice and your boat is very good looking 👍. iam built couple 1500 pre xflow engines for historic cortina rallycar, about 140hp
That’s some good power from that engine! What would be your recommendation on carb/carbs to use? I’m currently running a small Weber 34 down draft, not decided yet what to upgrade to.
Carlos Riva would be proud of you for producing a piece of aquatic art..nice to see your wearing a life jacket...very sensible

She zooms right along!

I think this comment is one of the nicest I've had on my channel, thank you very much sir 👍
Hail Europa!
Congrats, well done, a beautiful classic.
wow you should be so proud
well done never let her go ...
shes a keeper

Wonderfull sight and sound!
Glad to see you out in her. What impressed me was how stable she is compared to the camera boat. You must be pleased.
Super looking craft at speed and at rest. Looking forward to hearing your findings on being at the helm.
You sure earned that ride. Congrats!
Looks great!
I saw you driving down the M6 today, I thought ‘hmmm that boat looks familiar..’ then realised it was from this series!
Yep that was me, just coming back from a few nice days cruising on Windermere!
Sounds ace.😀👍
I’m sure you’ll never sell this hand built heirloom, but if you do sell it to a jockey. Incredible accomplishment congratulations!
Dan , congratulations on such a fine build , she’s a beauty, ( so how soon before you build the 30’ footer😄👍🏼. ). Florida 🇺🇸
I need a bigger workshop to do a 30 footer 😩
Beautiful,beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!😃😃
The boat is stunning. I would have been tempted to use more modern motor.
Thanks, I would as well if I built another one.
@@DanLeeBoatbuilding Maybe a classic style with a modern 4 stroke jetski engine. You just don't see modern boats ride like she does.❤
Great to see it running so well and sounds brilliant.
What speed did she do,?
She is only running just above 20mph here, there is still much to do with getting the correct prop sorted but at least I have a starting point now.
Niiiiice🤩!
You could still at a later date if you wanted 1800 Mazda or similar. Reliable and lots of skwert.
Dan, reflecting on the project, what was the cost of the hull construction without engine/train and fittings?
That's a good question! I would say the basic hull probably cost me around £2-3k in materials, time of course is another matter. The bulk of the cost though in any boat build is in the engine and fittings.
@@DanLeeBoatbuilding how much was the engine and what was the engine model
I paid £75 for this engine, bought it second hand eBay. It is a Ford 1500 Cortina engine.
Timeless
Very nice, great pleasure, what is its draft?
Thanks, draft is around 0.5m
Lovely job well done. She travels along pretty quick but is it just me or does it not get up and plane as other boats do at higher speed?
Cheers! I am only running at around half throttle here, I was having issues with the gearbox slipping and I still don't have the right prop on the boat. Still some tweaking to do.
I can't believe he went out and got the damn thing wet!
Well, how fast did it go?
Only around 20mph here, once I have the correct prop sorted I think I will be closer to twice that.
@@DanLeeBoatbuilding thanks Dan, beautiful boat! and your build setup is well thought out and precise, well done.
Mike
hi what speed are you getting up to at full throttle
Not much here, maybe 20mph. I had gearbox issues which I am currently getting looked at and I still don't have the right prop on the boat. The hope is to get it set up properly this year and I should see around 30-35mph with the current engine setup.
Awesome Dan, could see your gin from the other side of the lake haha. Looks like this shake down run went pretty well?
Yeah good fun! Still some setting up to do but thats all part of test days.
Nice one, looking forward to the top speed run vid ; )
What engine is in boat? Speed? Horsepower?
A 1500 Ford engine, approx 60hp at the moment. Not sure on speed as I am still getting it set up correctly but probably around 30mph. I am intending to tune the engine over the winter.

@@DanLeeBoatbuilding twin 40mm weber DCOE, old ones is better than new china or whatever build.
Put a small block V8 in this little gem!!!! Hy are you screwing around with 60 hp? Defeats the purpose here!
How fast?
25mph at the moment.
Oi meu amigo tudo bem
Vi todos os seus vídeos e gostaria muito de comprar o projeto do seu barco poderia me ajudar

Beside it is perfectly build and looking stunning, it is not gliding as it should. The stern does not come up.
It's only running at around half throttle here.
