The Nairobi to Kisumu train is back on the track after 15 years of not being operational. Unlike the previous time when the train used to operate at night, this time, it does the trip during the day making it a good trip to sightsee.

Am really happy for Kenyans. First SGR, then revamption of Nanyuki and now Kisumu. I wonder when this devt will reach Kampala. We see the Tanzanians are also in a race to reach Morogoro and later to Mwanza. Our gov't looks to be sleeping.
One day it will happen, imagine Nairobi Kampala train?
Very informative video! You've done a great job putting all of this together, keep it up.
Nice one ! I'm glad you were among the first to do this review of the second leg of the "Lunatic Express" train.
They should introduce night travel on the train as well
That used to happen before. They now moved it to day. I doubt they’ll do night unless there’s a lot of travelers.
Already started on 10th June
Pliz tell me nataka kwenda Kisumu naipandia wapi

@@Ninaform YW.
@@Ninaform You might want to change Ninaform to something which can be easily found in the algorithm like The Travel Guide,Safari Guide.
It's nice that you show cheaper places to stay under 2000 shillings.
I have been waiting for your review thanks so much. i have to travel to nakuru once the holiday rush is over
Twelve hrs of adventure
Nice review, hope they restore the one for Nairobi to Mombasa
I doubt they will even though the line is actively used for cargo. Id board it though if they made it a first class couch only and do like a tours trip.
@@Ninaform Why first class only! their are people who could use the cheap fares!
@@ruzetwapa5450 Hi. I said that for tourism only train, and that they should bring in faster trains that will be for commuters.
It could be Kenya's equivalent to South Africa's Blue train or Rovos 🙏🏻🙏🏻🇰🇪🇰🇪
Great review. Sadly never went on this train in 70's, but went on the Nairobi Mombasa overnight train once in the early 80's, great trip. Hope they bring that route back🙏🏻🙏🏻🇰🇪🇰🇪
It's available..sgr nairobi mombasa
@@fatimaatieno9093 yeah, i know about that👍🏻, just wished they brought back the old overnight train/route back🙏🏻🇰🇪
Uko na form bro.... You level of review is top form at least we have knowledge of the train compartment, and what's on offer. Well done keep it up
Thank you 🤝🏾
A video on the train from Nairobi international airport to the city centre would be very useful. The frist part is a bus from the airport terminal to Embakasi village railway station.
For long distance the pull or push engine train are preferred as opposed to inter city or short distances, it is the same as other developed continents like Europe, and US, check out trains used by American passenger train company AMTRAK and you'll understand we are on the right track
Thanks for the information. Hopefully though they will modernize to faster trains. 12hrs for a 350kms journey is bit much.
All part of the trans Africa rail and road system...
At the moment the train only goes at night. It would be nice if they also have a day train.
thanks for taking us with you, can wait for next year
To more explorations 🙏🏾
ride ooohh
I rode this train in the 80s when it was
Great video thanks.
Nice video!! Good job
Amazing review👌🏾
It's a Nina Form Saturday. Niliachwa na syllabus kidogo😂😂
Haha! Glad you caught up 👌🏾👌🏾
Next line should be Nairobi-Nakuru-Eldoret
I wish i had booked but very nice video as always
Also think about a video on train hopping within Nairobi environs
Good idea but the guards at the train station tend to stop people a lot for taking photos or videos that’s why I have avoided doing it.
Travel your country and see the beauty. Then you'll be willing to work hard to preserve it for next gen.
Well said.
Nice review. I enjoy your content 💯
Thank you
Woow
How did you book
I what to go Kisumu, Thursday pliz niambie nitaipata wapi
I think it only works on Friday. Enda main train station in town and book or call their number from the railways website.
How can one book for the train. In the economy class how many people seat per seat coz they seem much bigger
You have to call the railways or go physically to their offices.
Awesome content as always!!!! Can the Nairobi commuter trains run on the same gauge railway on the Kisumu route? Are they compatible? Also, did you fly back to Nai ama you used the same train to return?
Yes the commuter trains are compatible. They already run on the same gauge which is the old one that was built in Nairobi during colonial era. The gauge can support speeds of upto 120kmph I think. I flew back afterwards unfortunately I had other engagements.
The gauge is the old one metre gauge I remember building those coaches in Derby England when I worked for British Railways Engineering.. I also rode to Kisumu in 1995 on the Nairobi Kisumu line. And a couple of years later on the Nairobi Mombasa line when it still used the old Metre gauge marvellous ride on the sleeper trains@@Ninaform
From kisumu railway station to the town is it far?
Nope. Less than 10minutes with a car or motorbike.
What a great video!! Thanks for featuring the different aspects of the train. It’s way smoother than a bus or matatu and the views are amazing 😻
How was the road to the Lago Resort? I heard it was really rough before, has it improved some?
The views are truly amazing and the slow speed makes you enjoy it more.
The road to Lago is not the best but I managed to reach there with a taxi guy with a small car. It’s only a 10minutes drive on rough road.
Do they allow bicycles in the train?
Not sure. I think you might need to call to make arrangements in advance.
How much does it cost to book a whole first class cabin??
Cost of one ticket times 3.
Is it possible to go from Nakuru to Nairobi using this or is it only from Nairobi/ Kisumu?
Hello. Yes it’s possible.
Yap
Which apps do you use to edit your videos??
Hi. I use Adobe premiere pro.
Bana hii country ikona doh but see the way we are being force to praise old century things.......so sad 😔
