Thank you Dr Westman for interviewing Dr Matthew Phillips. I’ve been following his progress for a while, as I had a grade 4 astrocytoma removed in August 2023, and have been implementing a low carb diet as an adjunct therapy. My mother has Parkinson’s, so this was particularly relevant. She’s stubborn as hell, but I’ve sent her time stamps on this video, in the hope that she’ll at least be able to commit to listening to those snippets.

Regarding the 20 some minute mark where they discuss glioblastoma patients 6 months into the standard of care starting keto and fasting, Dr. Seyfried notes that irradiating a brain is the worst thing you can do in this circumstance because it frees up more glucose and glutamine. But it's part of the standard of care; that's the problem. The standard hopefully will change, but, as a lawyer I would imagine IF a doctor said "no let's NOT irradiate, but instead do THIS," that Dr. could get him or herself into trouble. :(
But yes, the patient needs to do the metabolic therapy well BEFORE the standard of care.

    • @dublinphotoart

@@Kroh13you are spot on correct. If I got cancer the first thing i would do is go on an extremely low carb diet. Not 20 grams but 1 gram. I'd also start longer fasts. I currently do OMAD and 2MAD but I would start doing 2 and 3 day fasts to starve the cancer.

All human cancers are run by the start of cell damaging to the Mitrochondias in the cells which happens before the issues with cell nucleus which all current doctors deal with whilst not being trained with current medical regarding cancers. 80% of cancer sufferers die from current cancer treatments, many from their health suffering from current poor cancer treatments from the last 100 odd years.
Cancer cells start with the failure of Mitrochondias and reducing to older ancient cell types and all current cancers are fed and grow using two fuel sources of glucose and glutamine amino acids.
Change your diets to carnivore or ketosis and your cancers will starve from getting rid of sugars, carbohydrates and starches which all turn into glucose that ruins your body eventually and glucose currently provides 50% of fuel to all cancer cells.
Your current ketones and eaten animal fat foods provide the fuels for all your bodies cells energies which help to start the starving of cancer cells. Reducing the glutamine use of all cells is more difficult as normal and cancer cells use glutamine too but there are ways of reducing glutamine when necessary that will harm the cancer cells and your normal white cells etc will eventually start killing cancer cells.
There's loads more info you need regarding these which is currently difficult because virtually all Cancer Doctors ignore the true way to kill Cancers and target using the poor somatic mutation theory (SMT) for victims badly for most but ignore the new Mitrochondial metabolic theory that can save 50% of patients currently but these new treatments are currently ignored by most doctors, hospitals and pharmaceuticals and governments.
Check out both including professor Thomas Seyfried from Boston and learn about the Mitrochondial metabolic theory compared to the SMT.
Current radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments are not completely perfect and destroys not only some of the cancer cells but also destroys normal healthy cells and destroys your health against most human diseases. Many of the victim people (80% ISH) who currently have SMT medicine and treatments tend to die within the first 5 years.
Do more research and discover more info regarding your cancers, health and treatments. There's loads more for sufferers to research and then choose and decide what you want to do once you've improved your medical knowledge and preferred treatments regarding your particular cancer.
Research all information so you are more aware of what will help you and what may harm you. Good luck once you've done some more research.

It wasn't mentioned specifically, but in the context of this discussion so long as a carnivore diet + some fasting is attaining a good GKI then it would be fine to use that. Some people eat so much meat or too much dairy (insulinogenic for some people) that they don't reach a therapeutic GKI on a carnivore diet despite it having no sugar or carbs. I managed to get my ketones up and glucose down, eating once per day and eating just ruminant meat and occasional eggs and salmon. I also managed the same GKI adding some salad veges from the garden over summer and an extended fast every week.

Please learn your English vocabulary and stop misleading people into assuming they will enter ketosis on your fake keto diet. Not everyone enters ketosis on your diet, so calling it keto is misinformation. 150 keto urine strips cost $9.99 and only take 30 seconds to measure. It is extremely misleading to tell people that measuring ketones is complicated.
