  • There’s no escaping the power of Julia Wolfe’s ‘LAD’. Originally written for nine bagpipes, these layered and stretching drones interrogate the raw essence of sound.
Our take on this formidable piece is an arrangement by Rakhi Singh for violin and effects pedal, which we performed as the closing number to Rakhi and Alan Keary’s duo set in a packed-out pub in Birmingham. The energy in the room was palpable: a sense of silence amid the noise.
