Canadians treasure her now and forever. America had Karen Carpenter while CANADA listens to Anne Murray, the voice as beautiful, full and rich, as ever. There are so many songs to hear. This one was a popular Wedding song too.
This brings back so many happy memories of my Mom playing this "cassette" in the kitchen while doing the dishes ❤️ Thank you for taking me back....she is missed dearly ❤️
This was my parents wedding song back in 1982, when my mom married my step-dad. I was 8 yrs. old at the time. They are still married today, and that man became a wonderful dad to me. Thanks for playing this song, it made my day. :)
I’m crying listening to this. I’m 77 and when I was a teenager I danced with my Dad in our living room to this song. Thank you for giving me a very sweet memory. Bev
Wife here..I really loved Anne Murray as a small child.., (U 2 soooo ADORABLE)..This song brings back so many memories of my Mother and Father....Such a Bittersweet Nostalgia for me...Steel Guitar and Beautiful Voice..Perfectly stated ♥...It is soooo sweet!!
I agree with everyone who suggested "You Needed Me"; her voice is especially beautiful on that one, and I could imagine Asia would kill a cover of it! Nice reaction Asia & BJ!
Anne Murray was the most popular female Canadian country singer in the 1970s and 1980s. She retired in 2008. Country waltz. 3/4 time signature. (Note: I have not even read the sheet music to tell you the details!) Great song! Suggested next song: You Needed Me.
Anne Murray is outstanding! You can't go wrong with ANY of her songs but listen to... 1) A LITTLE GOOD NEWS 2) SNOWBIRD 3) JUST ANOTHER WOMAN IN LOVE 4) IF I EVER FALL IN LOVE AGAIN (it's a duet with Kenny Rogers) watch the live version! 5) YOU NEEDED ME
It was a single, unassuming line in a song - "Could I have this dance forever?" - but Wayland Holyfield's instinct told him his friend Bob House was onto something big. The two Nashville songwriters took House's line and made it the basis for a new song, "Could I Have this Dance." Anne 🍁Murray took it to the top of the charts later that year, and moviegoers heard her sing its famous hook ("Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?") in the hit film "Urban Cowboy."
The "beat" of this song is a waltz. My wife made me learn to waltz before she would say yes to marrying me. She said, "If you won't dance with me, you can't be jealous WHEN (not IF) I dance with other men." I still don't waltz well, but I've got the "1-2,3,4..1-2,3,4" down.
I hope you waltz better than than you count. 😂. A waltz (and this song) is in 3/4 time, so it’s 1-2-3, 1-2-3. My wife and I waltzed to this song as our first dance at our wedding. Regardless of your counting skills, I hope you’re still dancing with your wife.
From the movie "Urban Cowboy", starring John Travolta, which I strongly urge you guys to watch. Great movie with a fantastic country soundtrack! And for more Anne Murray, listen to her cover of Kenny Loggins song "Danny's Song". It's even better than the original!
Anne is of of our Canadian TREASURES. Please check out You Needed Me, Danny's Song, Snowbird, and I Just Fall in Love Again :). I agree with down below - Blue Rodeo is another Canadian ICON - Try, Trust Yourself, Bulletproof, Diamond Mine, and Five Days in May to start with
You two remind me of when I was a little kid when in the car on the way to church my brother and I would be telling Dad, "Dad, he's touching me" or "Dad, she's on MY side of the seat." SMH. You just stirred up a lot of memories! You also stirred up memories because you played a song by Anne Murray who was my husband's favorite singer and this was his favorite song by her.
Anne's been serenading America for decades! But nothing compares to her song, "I Just Fall In Love Again" it is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard! It is visual art set to music!
I can’t think of a single Canadian who doesn’t know the name Anne Murray! She is beloved, you have to hear “You Needed Me” “Danny’s Song” and the song that really started her career “Snowbird”
Trivia: Could I Have This Dance was originally intended to be a duet with Anne and Kenny Rogers. Anne recorded the song; Kenny was unavailable. Capitol Records executives liked what Anne recorded and released it as a single and it took off up the charts!
