Hope and sorrow seem old friends, When harp is played so fair and forlorn. Whispers of a heartache, And quiet memories that bring soft smiles to wrinkled lips. Like watching a fire burn itself out, and seeing the good future in the ashes. It’s beautiful I guess is what I’m saying.
Probably the most beautiful harp tune on RUclips, and trust me, I've probably listened to most of them! Just one of those pieces that reaches down into your soul, as if each string played were attached directly to your heart. Haunting, contemplative, searching....not sure how to describe it, but I could listen to it for hours. Bought the sheet music and will def be learning to play this. Thanks Ailie, your on of the very best!
Thank you Ailie for playing this gorgeous music. Bringing it to live in memory of Trevor Morrison and the people from St Kilda back then. It made me cry, it’s so beautiful 😍
I agree! Absolutely exquisite playing is Ailie’s style! Gorgeous tune & the accompanying video takes your breath away! How can people not respect nature & the environment! Thanks Ailie 👏👏👏
What a wonderful way to spend three minutes 😍 Because of this video, I just found out the story behind Trevor Morrison recording these lost tunes on piano when he was in a care home. What a story. I hope if you ever have the time they'll be on Patreon one day, Ailie... I also loved Hirta. Thanks for this, have had it on repeat since it was posted x
Kept my eyes closed to focus on the music. Beautiful! I'll watch the video now. My Grandfather was in the Hebredies so anything with a connection is impt to me. Thanks for Sat. morning treat.❤
That was beautiful Allie played with exquisite sensibility and sensitivity. First time I’ve heard this tune so enjoyed that unpredictable melody line that many of the ancient songs have in common. I love to learn this piece!
If you're wondering about this arrangement, Ailie is a wonderful teacher and her arrangements fall very easily under the fingers. Another great arrangement!
Indeed hauntingly beautiful......I put this version on my list to learn, hoping it will be in reach for me. You play with such softness and emotion in it, It's stunning. I am re- watching your video a lot, thank you Ailie for inspiring me so much!!❤
I got the sheets and it`s very beautiful and easy to play, wonderful melody. There is a little mistake on top of page 2 of the advanced version, you might check this. ❤
Beautiful compelling tune & Yes! If you publish it in a transposed version from Eb. I’d love to purchase it! All of my harps are tuned in FMajor 🎶🎶Thank you!!!
@@LearnCelticHarp oh Allie this is one of my favourite tunes and I also would love it if you could transpose for me too please... The easier the better as I'm not an accomplished harp player just one who accompanies others on their fiddles and flutes... Best wishes from Australia 🦘🎶
Yes they definitely can Mary - I have a little Ardival wire strung harp (though I'm playing a carbon strung harp here), and it sounds wonderful through a reverb.
This music with Ailie's fabulous playing just reaches into my very gut!

Hi Katinka - I'm not seeing a mistake - which bar?
@@LearnCelticHarp Page 2, 21.... it`s as if you have to play the e (left hand) and the g (right hand) together
Woooow thats soooo wunferful❤❤❤
So beautiful. I'm really enjoying learning this one. What is the proper way to pronounce Dùn?
How is the title pronounced? Gorgeous music, I just float away.
Beautiful compelling tune & Yes! If you publish it in a transposed version from Eb. I’d love to purchase it! All of my harps are tuned in FMajor 🎶🎶Thank you!!!
I've made a version in F and in G now too, so just email me and I can sort that for you :)
@@LearnCelticHarp ok just sent the email, thanks!
Could you please tell me what Dun means? 😊
Is there an effect being used? The reverb/echo makes it sound like it
There's just a tiny bit of reverb on the harp
Which harp and strings do you play here?
This is a Killarney Muckross 37 I'm playing here
So beautiful! Wish you had an arrangement without flats. (:
Send me an email and I can send you a transposed version :)

I love this and the shimmering effects. Can a reverb (and oick-ups) work on a wire-strung harp?

Fun to know. I think a new world is about to open. Thanks!@@LearnCelticHarp
