Yes the beginnings of orchid hysteria are well documented in your video. I'm saddened and relieved all at the same time when I visit the only wild orchid population in my part of the world in mid June. The orchids are safe partly because the people who visit those trails are more interested in the golf course and lake activities near these forests. I'm sad that many people don't enjoy their short lived beauty. As for my orchid collection, I own about 125 different orchids. I'm a windowsill grower in winter but summer a few of these outside in the few hot months typical to Canadian climates. It's mostly a mixed bag but I have mostly phalaenopsis, some Hardy vandas, dendrobiums, Asian and South American lady slippers. Phragmipediums , Vanda types, and any scented ones are my favorite. 😀
Wow! That's a fantastic collection. I'm leaning towards a Cattleya for my next orchid. Glad that people are a bit better there now about taking care of orchids. Shame more people don't remember to commune with nature though.
@@EccentricNature It really is. Ginko trees are incredibly fascinating. They are the oldest known living tree species we have today. They only survived to present time because of the efforts of Buddhist monks.
Like 129! Hi my friend, love orchids! Love the story and the editing too! Very interesting story! I knew they were old but not that’s old and I had know idea there were so many! Testicles? How funny! Animal Papa and Junior! 😎❤️👍🙏
At 10:16 I was like 'THAT PLANT LOOK AMAZING! I WANT ONE!' only to find out they're critically endangered and use fungus as their source of nutrients so I wouldn't be able to grow it regardless.... Woops. I own just a regular doritaenopsis (pink
Sweet! Vanilla orchids are tough to grow! I hope it does well for you! Thanks so much for watching. I do also have a History of Vanilla video as well that might be up your alley. Get into the orchids on that one a little bit too. :)
