So I have been rebuilding seats for 11 years. Can gut any in car to metel and back again ,dash seats headliner, anything. Like your vid. Show more of replacing everything. Headrest cushion staples airbag bottom seat and all electric controls. Show your complete install ,that would be cool. Good job.
This is what I do. First check ,run codes . You will have some. Need to replace your SRS module no matter what. Use new parts only. The codes will tell you if you need to replace the belts and buckles sometimes weight sensors impact sensors whatever . Any time you unplug the seat it will produce codes need to clear them. Just need time and patience.
Crazy question since you know about this stuff. I found a wrecked 2018 4 runner close to me with heated seats looks the same as yours. So if I buy them and replace the airbags , get them stiched think it will throw a light in my Tacoma ?
@@Overlandlife_ Theres only a few scenarios you have to do any programming. Since you’re just replacing the airbags and not doing anything with the module you’re good. Sometimes you have to use a scanner to clear the airbag light if it doesn’t clear by itself after replacing the airbags. Just a reminder always make sure to disconnect the battery when you’re doing airbag stuff so you don’t cause any unnecessary problems👍
@@spacemonkey2829 You don’t have to pull the seat out if you’re just installing a new airbag. Yeah you can do that. Sometimes it’s more expensive to do it that way and sometimes you have to program / recalibrate the seat to the car depending on the make and model
get a whole new seat for $65 at the junkyard with the airbag and everything... ..Or you could just get the parts you need...It also ripped seat cushion and fabric ... And honestly you're just better off replacing the whole seat depends how common it is to find them at the junkyard..
@@Pinkielover depending on the car you’re working on you can get a seat for cheap at the junkyard. The seat in the video was for a 2021 Toyota Tacoma and there was nothing available locally to me. Replacing the airbag is usually the cheapest way to fix a blown seat airbag for newer cars.
I'm looking at putting a set of 2014 F150 seats in my 1994 F250 OBS. The drivers side seat has the same cushion blown. I don’t know but Im pretty sure the upholstery shop will charge you more than a replacement seat from a junkyard. Not to mention you already spend money on the airbag.
@@jaygates3479you have to find it at a junkyard first. Idk what magical junkyard you go to but they often don’t have the right seat. So if your lucky it’s cheaper.

What we needed to explain is how to re-sew and what type of thread, installing the bag is the easiest
Nothing on sowing back the seat.
I don’t do the reupholstery. I take the ripped seat cover to the reupholstery shop and have them sew it up for me
Nice edits man, the pauses were really nice!
Plus, you explained everything pretty well!

good job. Question how much to re stich the blown part of the seat? Any idea the cost. Thanks
$75 is what my local upholstery shop charges me
How do they test the strength of the air bag seams, to verify correct operation?
Great video. I have replace thing for my Mazda. Do I have to disconnect battery before installing it?
Yes it is always safest to have the battery disconnected when installing and removing
Great video....did you have to replace the side impact sensor,or is it reusable..
If the impact sensor isn’t physically damaged in the accident then it will be reusable

As long as the airbag connectors / plugs are the same you won’t have a problem 👍

awesome video! do you HAVE to remove the actual seat?
Not always. I do because I think it’s easier but it all depends on the make and model of the car
I have done complete seat rebuild in a car but that's difficult just unbolt four bolts unplug connections under seat ,way easier to work on seat
I do it everyday
Hi if i un plug airbag is it possible that airbag suddenly work without any electrical power only because of other reason like warm weather?
Thank you , helped me a lot 🙏
Wondering where to by a replacement airbag?
How much does it usually cost to have it re-stitched?
Got these ones done for $90
You can restitch but most of the time there is alot of damage. Cover airbag cushion etc. Easier to just rebuild with new parts.
Why do you have to pull the seat out? It seems like you can replace it with the seat still installed.

Buy new parts only.
Did you have to reset the airbag monitor?
Yeah anytime an airbag goes off or a seatbelt locks up from an accident you’ll have to reprogram the airbag module 👍
What if the airbags went off but there is no airbag light on in the dash?
Probably have to replace it. It's what I do.
