  • The title explains it, yet let me clarify a bit more - as if it's needed: I borrowed the camera from my brother and didn't change any settings. Well, neither he did. The video shows how the camera handles low/night light situations.
We were in a taxi (oh, really?) in Bali, Indonesia (okay, man), which means that the speed was 40KM/H at most. As per the naming, the recording started (or finished?) on September 19, 2024 at 19:16:24 precisely. Sun was setting at around 18:15 or so at the time, hence it was past the blue hour and, hence, it was night proper.
My two pennies on the performance: Worse than what I hoped for, a bit better than what I expected. Owning and using a DJI Action 2, I hoped that this fourth version would do a (lot) better job, yet the camera failed to do so.
Car's movement makes it look like as if shot with an ordinary mobile phone at times. We pay these "action cameras" primarily for stabilization, hence is a huge problem for me.
I use the camera with horizon balancing mode, but the horizon has some 10-15 degrees recline towards the opposite direction of movement. Another huge negative.
It's by far not sharp. The camera normally over-sharpens videos, even that didn't help remotely.
Colors are what I'd expect from it. Anyway colors need to be fixed in post-production, which makes me spend a lot of time in front of Photoshop (yes, I do photos, not videos normally), and I won't say much about it.
Contrast? Of course non-existent! Even my Nikon D750 suffers at times at such high-ISO settings, cannot expect much from a sensor that's the size of a rice.
No positives? Well, not much can be said for the video. When there's light, the camera works a lot better but when there isn't, you see the result. "But it's in a car in the middle of the night, aren't you expecting much" you might ask. For that I'll upload another video to show how it fails in producing nice videos in low light, be it in a car as in this case, or simply walking in the coming video.
Till then, arigato gozaimasu for viewing, wherever and whoever you are, my friend!
