My 20V Turbo was still the best car I’ve ever had. Bulletproof, 340bhp, frugal, comfortable on long trips and able to set record times at Nurburgring & Spa I STILL haven’t bettered... Also of course it looked great. 2002-2014, 280000km.
Always loved the look of the Fiat Coupe, it was and still is a beautifully unusual design. Love to see how it all turns out if you keep it or sell it on.
Back in a day I was toying with the idea of transplanting 4wd from my Alfa 155 Q4 into Fiat Coupe. Comparing them directly, Alfa Gtv multi-link rear suspension is a work of art, while Coupe is standard Tipo platform shared between Fiat Tipo/Bravo/Brava/Marea, Alfa 145/146/155, Lanca Dedra and few others. Standard form, Alfa Gtv v6 was always my preferred choice, but both beautiful cars.
Coup is just a Short way of saying coupe . If you’re not Form the U.K , I can understand why you don’t know that , but that’s how most people in the trade call it . And that goes for any brand of car that has a coupe model .
When I was a kid I went to the motor show in Glasgow in about 1995. I wanted to see the gtv and the coupe. The coupe won hands down. Style, pace, space and the interior was a beautiful place to be. Bought a le ten years later and have almost had it since.
Would have snapped this up a few months ago. Beautiful car and a great job done on it. That interior is gorgeous I haven’t seen a tan one before. Would have a non-turbo anyway, more reliable and usable but still really good fun.
I think its brilliant you appreciate these cars and bring them back to life, most people just scrap them,or break for spares, they are design classics, and should be cherished and saved, classy and sporty
Yes more vids on this please. Great car and I always loved the style of them. Maybe a driving video would be good as well? Did you have any problems buying spares for it?
I had a yellow 20valve Turbo 5 years ago, drove past it at a local dealer and decided to buy it there and then, best car I’ve ever owned and regret selling it to this day… the 5 cylinder warble and pull from the turbo is addictive, fast by today’s standards let alone the 90’s! Looking at getting a v6 GTV or a Brera next 🤞🏽
Owned a GTV lusso from new and a Coupe turbo a few years later, loved the interior of the Coupe but the Alfa always felt better quality. GTV was sexy from all angles whereas the FIAT seemed a car of two halfs much like the mk1 Hyundai Coupe. Although great fun to drive I sold the FIAT as it drank fuel like a fish. Always regretted selling the GTV but just not practical for a new family, traded it in on a Mazda estate... yawn. I would have another GTV in a shot, infact anything Alfa! Had several 156 and 159, defo enthusiasts cars as mine had the finest of everything. FIAT always felt like the poor relation.
We’re getting to the point where a good shell is more important than the lump under the bonnet. Much rather have a solid, turbo swapped non turbo. 5 or so years ago I missed out on a 16v Turbo.... one day 👌
Underrated cars and always over looked the coupes. I had one and it would still pull at 150mph and this was a long time ago. Yea they were a bit skity when really pushed to there limits on the bends nut that said good handling cars fast aswell. I'd have one for sure
Nice video!! You need to fix the side mirror. It should not be completely red. Original look is black base and red paint on the plastic parts. Also the exhaust is sticking out way too much.
True that mate. My plus is my forever dream machine. I get people ask me what car it is and looks pretty much everywhere including EVERY petrol station i stop at. Mines running 340bhp to the wheels.
Chassis is the same on them but the rear suspension on the GTV is bespoke - totally different to the coupe. Turbo coupe is slightly less nose heavy than a V6 GTV but the bigger NA engine doesn't expose the front wheel drive limitations in the same way the Coupe Turbo does. Anorak fact - the 16V non turbo Fiat Coupe used the same gearbox as the Lancia Beta
I had a Fiat Bravo HGT 155 of the day which shared the platform of this car. It handled and rode appallingly but the engine made it. Replaced with a 916 GTV V6 and despite being nose heavier still handled far better... the multilink rear makes a VAST difference to the chassis. I bet the 2.0 TS GTV is a brilliant drive
I currently drive a Fiat Coupe Turbo and had GTV V6 Lusso in the past ... IMO the coupe is a much better daily drive and I find that I dont spend as much time fretting about it breaking... I can confirm that both cars are impossible to get into when theres a frost!

As much as I love the look of the gtv and it is beautiful car, I Personally always preferred the Fiat Coupe. The main alfa romeo car of that era was the 155 and 164, the Fiat of that era were the coupe, bravo and marea weekend, I would still have merea weekend even now, never had chance before.
Italia Autos Agree you can feel the rear axle, but the Fiat seats 4 WITH luggage, easily tuned to over 300bhp so much faster, great handling with bilstein/eibachs and the design inside out has held up much better than the GTV. I now drive a Bmw Z4M Coupe but still hasn’t been able to beat my Fiat-BTG at Nürburgring.. Also they are great on long trips. Bulletproof mechanics
@@pereldh5741 agreed, i love the GTV too but the PH1 interior of the GTV is very dated compared to the Coupe, the PH2 was improved alot but still doesnt have that look and feel of the coupe.

I like them. I prefer v6 Engines, so it‘s easy. But the Fiat interior is nicer and there is enough room for 2 little children. Maybe a masterpiece of Chris Bangle, one of the designers.
The v6 is all show no go, 220bhp with no easy upgrade path to more power. Whats the point? Not to mention double the rotating assembly on the top end further increasing costs should something break.
Guys, can you comment on the front lights. What can you do to them when they go off if you know what I mean? Some look like it’s inner wear/deterioration and on others outer with age and sunlight I guess. Do they have to be replaced or can they be refurbished? Thanks
It's not the same chassis as the GTV, it has a way more complexed rear subchassis. Because of that GTV has less space in the rear seats and in the trunk
It has a different rear subfram Floor pan is the same from subframenis the same. Engine mounts are in the same place. You can fit a gtv rear subframe to a fiat coupe.

Beautiful but dangerous and unreliable. A cousin broke his legs 20 years ago when his fiat coupe rear broke and he was driving on the Italian highway while he was driving 200 km/h (about 150 mph)
I’ve had seven of these, my last one was about 4 months ago (a very low mileage one owner in Sprint Blue). I’m done with them now. Fabulous engine etc but very rattly and I’m actually bored of them
It is just plain silly and sloppy not to bother telling us what year model this is! - Understand that many viewers are not familliar with 'Fiat coupes'... You make so many references to "Similar to GTV's of This Era" --- WHAT ERA???? So much talk, but NO MODEL YEAR! -- At least reference the Model year in the "TITLE of the video"!- A nice Video otherwise.. Thanks
They was made from 1993 to 2000 and that was one of the last being on a v plate 99-00 they came in a 16v na 16v turbo 20v na and a 20v Turbo the 20vt replaced the 16v turbo the also they did the plus and le version of the 20v Turbo, and the plus had 6 speed box, push button start, strut breaces and body kit oh and they do a vis version of the 20v aswell 😂🤣🤣🤣😂
@@ItaliaAutos I can't import a GTA yet, foolish 25 year rule. I have to buy a 156, 1996 or older and a lot of GTA pieces if I don't want to wait 6 years. I'll be able to afford a Giulia by then. Alfa needs to sell some cheap models in the US if they want people to buy Giulias and Stelvios. Alfa has zero brand recognition in the US for anyone under 50. If it's not big with hipsters on RUclips here, nobody will buy it. I guarantee the Giulia could easily be dialed up to 1100hp and drifted by Ken Block. The aftermarket would make parts to eliminate any weak links. We have 2500hp streetable Huracans now thanks to engineering excellence.
Fiat should bring out a 2020 Coupe.. It would sell like hot cakes

Beautiful but dangerous and unreliable. A cousin broke his legs 20 years ago when his fiat coupe rear broke and he was driving on the Italian highway while he was driving 200 km/h (about 150 mph)
cant blame the car if he was going beyond the speed limit. (unless he was on the autobarn)
🤩
❤❤
Thanks
They was made from 1993 to 2000 and that was one of the last being on a v plate 99-00 they came in a 16v na 16v turbo 20v na and a 20v Turbo the 20vt replaced the 16v turbo the also they did the plus and le version of the 20v Turbo, and the plus had 6 speed box, push button start, strut breaces and body kit oh and they do a vis version of the 20v aswell 😂🤣🤣🤣😂
will you adopt me LOL
Better much better, Fiat have 4 seat and a 310 litres trunk, Alfa GTV have no comfortables back seats and only 110 litres of luggage.
Please stop calling "fiat cup"...is coupe'...f..sake....
its the way its said in the uk. if you dont like it do one!
@@ItaliaAutos ahahah:)
Beauty
very.
