    The Theraband Flexbar is hands down the best way to go for kiter's elbow. Healed mine permanently in only a couple weeks and Ive loaned it to 50+ kiters in the past 10 years and all had same results.

    Hey there, that was great. Recently sold a kite whose bar pressure was ridiculous. Selling the kite and working on my arms made a huge difference.

    Two of us working at a kiteschool suffer from this. 3 months with no wind meant a lot of computer work on top of kiteboarding muscles when wind came back triggering the elbow. Not a good combination. Computer is bad for the elbow too ! Has been 6 months and still pain at the computer after 10 minutes.
    Your treatment is spot on. Aligned with our fysio. Hope it gets better soon. Great video. Thanks

    Great video. Nicely done. I’ve found that I was wrenching on the bar with one hand and weird angles sometimes to steer the kite especially with one handed jumps. That made it much worse. I’ve focused more on pulling lightly and putting that second hand on to help steer if needed. That’s helped me a lot.

    I used to get this a lot. Everything u said great to treat it, but the one thing that prevents this is working out your arms. Often in kiting you develop asymmetric arm muscles and if you go and lift weights you can rebuild the balance. This goes for knees and shoulders too. Cheers

    Great article thanks.My kiters elbow returned every time I had a layoff of of 1-3 months. I tried everything in the video and more. The fix for me I believe was Collegen with the muscle stretching, ice and anti inflammatory tabs.. I am now 2 months free of the pain and have just spent 5 days kiting every day in Hau Hin Thailand wiyh bo pain in the elbow. I used a multi collegen 1,2,3,4&5.

    Had been there, can be very painful. While kiting, it also helps to place your thumbs on top of the bar. Not 'clamping' the bar reduces strain in the forearm. In the gym, working the musculature if the forearm also worked for me. Good news is that it eventually goes away!

    Thanks Kyle, I have some minor elbow pain after kiting today so I checked out your excellent video. Great advice and the exercises felt beneficial. I am not sure if it is coming from my Concept 2 rower or kiteboarding or both. In any case I will follow your advice and not do anything to make it worse or chronic. At 58 and after many sports I know sometimes it is smart to ease back - sometimes easier said than done :)

    I have had a similar problem, but in my biceps and triceps muscles and a bit into the deltoid muscle. I am 73 and have been kiting for 16 years. I know this problem is related to riding one handed toeside and has been with me to a small degree for years. Currently it is worse than ever before. I took a month off and when I started kiting again, it came back pretty quickly. I have been riding two handed 99% of the time now, but one day I got stupid and rode quite a bit one handed, and I am paying the price. Of course age has something to do with it, but this issue can can be resolved I believe. I am in Thailand for the Winter and would love some good PT exercises, or perhaps a recommended treatment I could get done by my favorite physical therapist here.

    i've had medial epicondylitis (golfers elbow) for 8 months now which absolutely suuuuucks! Can't unhook or throw loops. can barely kite. Definitely can't wakeboard ( i think wakeboarding actually did the real damage).
    At its worst (after a 7 day kite holiday to sri lanka) i couldn't even open a bottle of water :-(
    Tried everything but the ONLY thing that's helped is Eccentric Dumbbell exercises. Now it's finally getting better... slooooowly :-)
    Wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.

    Thanks for the information. My left elbow is trashed. Love my Cabrinha Switchblades but i think the bar pressure is too much. I'm going to use your rehab exercises but i think i need to move to some different kites-at least a new 11-12m (most used) Anyone have suggestions on lighter bar pressure good allaround kites? I've read North Reach and Naish Pivot are lower bp? Thanks

    Great video. Very helpful. I'm curious. The majority of my pain seems to be ABOVE the elbow.... more on the triceps side of the elbow vs forearm. It still feels like tennis elbow (which I've had before). So I'm curious if you think these same exercises are good for that location of pain? Thanks for everything!

    Hmm.. I'm 25 years old, and since some time I've experienced this, not that badly luckily, but still.. I had never given it any thought, I expected it to just go away, unfortunately not I see.. In my case it's probably due to lot's of unhooking, and having Best GP kites that require a lot of steering effort to get them going. Well, thanks for this very informative video!!

    Dealt with kiteboarding induced lateral epicondylitis a few years ago. This time it's back only medially.(golfer's elbow). I'm exclusively a freestyle foiler riding a very low bar pressure BRM Cloud kites. Lots of one handed kite manipulation for roll tacs and gybes etc.. Due to a ton of crashing learning these moves, it necessitates frequent, one handed bringing the foiling to surface for water starts. I suspect this is what's now resulted in the medial inflammation. It's a real bitch to be sure. Isometric adduction stress send me through the roof. Should have got on the ice treatment much earlier. Once this crap turns chronic it's a real journey to get it under control. Now with my budding wing foiling career that lifting of the foil to the surface won't be a factor. Hopefully that give me a chance to heal. If you could recommend some medial epicondylitis interventions that would be hugely appreciated. Thanks for the excellent video here. Fair winds!

    • @TheOKKiteboarder
      @TheOKKiteboarder  2 года назад

      Hey Gringo. The exercises would be the same for medial except for the stretching which would lengthen the muscles across the wrist in the opposite direction and the horizontal deflection stretch in the opposite direction. Hope you heal up and enjoy your winging adventure 👍

    What I know is pain in the whole arm, cause of heavy one hand loops and old school riding. Since 18 years of kiting in the age of 40 I really dont know a solution. 2nd problem I could solve is back pain, mainly caused of to much belly muscles, disbalance. All kiters should exercise back muscles.

    I'm 21 and I kinda have the same problem. I try to stay fit in between my kitesessions (mostly a few days of wind, and after that 2-3 weeks no wind), but when I haven't gone to the gym in these 3 weeks without kiting and do a couple of kiteloops, this insane pain comes up in my elbow and my session is ruined. My question is: Could the excercises you explained 'replace' the gym to keep your arms strong/trained, and therefore prevent kiter's arm, or is it only to be used as a treatment against the pain? Thanks! Johan

    • @TheOKKiteboarder
      @TheOKKiteboarder  6 лет назад

      No. this episode really is dealing with the acute and subacute stages and maintenance, not much with the long term strengthening and proper mm. length issues.

    Hi ok kiteboarder :) I feel weak in my hand and wrist when riding toeside in my left arm when holding hand up on the bar. Its like I need to take it down to rest, to shake it of. The uncomfrtable feeling in the wrist hand disappears. Is this beginning of kiters elbow? Or just wrist problem? Do you have any excercises for that? Thanks for great videos
