"You can't officiate every fight the same." I think we just discovered the root problem with reffing and judging. Every fight SHOULD be officiated the exact same. To create a level playing field and no confusion. No wonder judging and reffing is all over the place, and fans and fighters are always confused about who won and why. It's a systemic problem in the training of officials.
I agree, the refs and judges are a shit show. Relying on interpretation and partialities rather than the proper procedures to actually officiating fights.

Sorry I'm late here but I think I've watched this show enough to know what they mean by officiating different in this instance. It's about letting a fighter take a beating for longer if it's a title fight vs stopping the fight after only a couple unanswered shots. They're saying there is more at stake in a title fight than a prelim, therefore the referee should allow the contender/champion who is taking a beating as much leeway as they possibly can because at the end of the day it's the fighters paycheck and legacy on the line. They aren't talking about poor judge scoring or really bad early stoppages.

Man i used to hate on this pod so hard.. used to say josh wasnt worthy of being on a show with such a world renowned mind of the sport but im man enough to come on here to say i was WAY wrong. Then ofcourse jake paul, who is new to the fight game but probably fought nate around 220lbs.. did come close but wound up going the distance. Was even starting to drop rounds later on. Sorry if this is a small novel but its time i eat crow. I think my disdain for josh came from something out of his control which was him being a teammate to khabib (the guy who i still to this day think ducked tony.. a FEW times. The difference is Nate wasn't fighting at WW at the time. He was a lightweight, they just held the fight at 170. Conor actually weighed in 2lbs under the weight limit, he was a small lightweight. Nate was bigger, but unlike Leon Edwards he was fighting at 155 so this comparison doesn't make sense. It wasn't as weird as Topuria fighting Leon would be. It would be closer to Topuria fighting RDA, who can fight at 170 but is currently at 155
