Suzanne Charny, the lead Frug dancer, is mesmerizing. I would watch that part of the movie over and over again just to see her. Turns out she was also a dancer on Hullabaloo with Donna Mckechnie. Fun fact.
I absolutely adore this movie but have always wondered what it would have been like had Gwen Verdon taken the lead role. She always comes across as such a generous person who didn't seem to mind in the least Shirley MacLaine taking the lead and stepping back to choreograph. I have never been able to bring myself to watch the 'alternative' ending on the DVD release either! One of the best musicals ever.
I watched "Sweet Charity," and although the choreography was impressive, I just didn't get it. I didn't get the story, didn't warm up to Charity, and it was just like watching a 60s acid trip or something.
Did this show some years ago. Such a great show, love the music and dance numbers!!!!
Very sporting of Gwen Verdon to work behind the scenes of the movie when she'd been the star of the Broadway play.
It should have been her.

Is Dana Moore the lead on the "Frug"?
Yes Dana Moore. I remember Jerry saying Fosse did not require her to audition.
Dana Moore did Sweet Charity '85. The amazing Suzanne Charny leads the Frug in the movie.
(Edited spelling)
I’ve always wondered who the frug dancers were
Ben Vereen is the black guy
