  • In this Video I look at the Suttle differences between White Gold & multiple types of Silver including 925 Silver, 999 Silver, & Rhodium Plated Silver. I also determine if White Gold is similar to Rhodium Plated Silver like Jewelers say it is. I forgot to mention that White Gold weighs more than Silver.

      bro listen to me. buy some wrights silver cream, the round one that comes with magic eraser in it. go over it like 5 times, then wash under really hot water. you will be amazed, i bet you dont even need to bring it to a professional...if you really want maximum results put it into tarn-x first, then do what i just told you. no other chemicals or natural does it like this. this is as close to as a professional you can get. my shittttttt shinesssssssssss

    White gold is kind of pointless imo because of silver. If you’re going to pay a premium for a gold piece you might as well get regular yellow gold or if you like the white color then get silver

      By that same logic, if you like yellow gold: why not always go with gold plated silver, or stainless steel? 🤔 … a silver chain will oxidize *a lot* faster than a gold plated steel one will fade.
      Before you waste your breath telling me the advantages of gold…yeah…that’s why you get white gold.

      my god he spanked you. turn you into his little whipping boy ::whip whip whip:: but then he wasn't even done with you. kicked you down the stairs, then told you man up and stand up tall with your head up and traverse back up. He told you you were almost a man, but not quite as he kicked you down the stairs again and this time you stayed down. He then called you a muppet and peed on you. Then he turned around and shat on you. Then he threw a match on your body covered in crap and lit it on fire. He grabbed a fire extinguisher near by and hosed you down to stop the fire from burning you even more. He said you're finally a man and you were like really? And he said why do you look so shocked? Before you could reply, he hit you across the head with said fire extinguisher and stuck your finger in a socket and replied don't be so shocked. But you were, shocked to death for all to see. He even cremated you afterwards one half symbolic and one half for symbiotic kicks and back into the fire you went

    Hello! For. Scratch resistance which is best for plating between rhodium, platinum and palladium? Which plating could not scratch and last long?

    • @balltmax
      @balltmax  11 месяцев назад +1

      Great Question! Rhodium Plating is more resistant to scratching than the other two but since they are Plated metals they usually do eventually fade where if you have a solid platinum piece of jewelry that will never happen.

      @Mysteryp7 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@Mysteryp7 Tungsten is the strongest hands down. A diamond could scratch it, but that's about it. There is no other comparisons. Here's the thing though; it's almost over-kill so if it's not a wedding band, even stainless steel is pretty damn strong. The rhodium plating is a bad suggestion, I like the guy in the video, but it fades so quickly, even months if you are unlucky. Just not worth it. Now as far as his platinum - The Mohs scale, which measures the hardness of minerals through a scratch resistance test that goes from 1-10, ranks a platinum ring at a 3.5 to 4, whereas a tungsten carbide ring ranks at a 9.
      I'm not trying to blow this guy up in the video, he's super passionate, he's not stupid by any means, there is just a lot of factors out there (how it's made, how much you sweat, etc.) so his suggestion of platinum is a good one for the simple fact most of these metals are really quite durable. If you want to take your ring to hell with you, since you're a terrible human being - go with Tungsten.

    Before covid Platinum was the best whitish metal jewelry to buy because it was cheaper... Now Platinum is around the same price as White Gold if not higher.... My problem is the resale value is way higher with white gold for whatever reason.... I ran into a hard times and needed to pawn my Platinum chain and custom pendant and they would only give me $600... I paid about $3,000 for the Platinum chain and the pendant... My white gold jewelry around the same weight can be pawned for $2,200.

    • @balltmax

      That's crazy, I didn't know that was the case. I figured Platinum would hold its value like gold

      @@balltmax I don't know... it could be because I went to a pawn shop that I don't usually go to where I have a relationship with them where they know I will come back and get my shit back Always... Since its Platinum they didn't really have any experience with it so they sent me to another pawn shop that has a licensed jeweler on call....To test it I guess.

    I thought the fine silver chain would be as bright (if not slightly brighter) than the sterling silver chain? Because the one i have is white like the 925 unplated silver chains that i have.

    • @balltmax

      From what I've seen the 999 Silver is bright but a little darker in color than the 925 Silver. At least with Miami Cuban Links. The 925 Silver usually is more on the whiter side where the 999 is more on the gray side. It could be different with other styles of chains & bracelets though

    Can you clean the white gold in baking soda, aluminum foil and hot water like you can with 925 silver ?

    • @balltmax
      @balltmax  Год назад

      I don't think so, there's a chemical reaction that happens when you do that with Silver but it won't happen with white gold since it's only about 1/3rd silver. I could be wrong though, never tried it but gold doesn't tarnish like silver does so you'll never need to do that. If it gets dirty overtime soap and warm water will do the trick

    • @treedillinger5801
      @treedillinger5801 11 месяцев назад +1

      The point of that trick is to remove tarnish, from oxidation. (The baking soda causes the tarnish to transfer from the silver to the aluminum). White gold doesn’t tarnish so there’s nothing to remove. A little soap and water is all you need.

    You've compared gaudy blinged out jewelry.
    If you look at the cuban links, you see what the colors of sterling silver and white gold really look like.
    It's not really specific to the link.
    Sterling silver: most lustrous.
    Rhodium plated anything is basically comparable in color and luster to stainless steel.
    Rhodium plating sterling silver is a waste of money.

    • @balltmax

      Nothings blinged out, there's no stones. And sometimes it can be specific to the style of link, I have 925 Silver jewelry that looks different in color because of the style of Link and both are polished too
