When my Dad returned from Germany in 1954 (he was with the 27th Brigade, guarding the new border between East and West Berlin) he signed on with the TTC. The guy who trained my Dad, worked with Boyd during his short tenure as a streetcar driver in the late 40s. Also, Gordon Pinsent portrayed him in a wonderful Canadian production "The Life and Times of Edwin Alonzo Boyd".

my great aunt flo was married to alonzo boyds cousin. ray boyd. near the end of her life she was losing her mind. she asked at a family visit" how is alonzo" .. grew up listening to stories about the boyd gang at family thanksgivings and christmas'.. enjoyed the movie they made but it wasnt entirely accurate.. the police shooting part..

Dude admitted before he passed that he murdered a married couple in 1947. Boyd was a psychopath and a far cry from the portrayal of him in the movie.
