Love the way you make these topics accessible - you're one of the 4 RUclips channels I recommend to everyone I know, including my son, to educate themselves on the whole investment space. Democratisation of knowledge has come a long way and I hope you keep doing what you're doing....
@SevenEllen All middle aged and older people are haunted by your comment. "£25 a month, paid for 25 years, and I'd have a huge pot of money today." It's a bit counter factual and unfair though because it would be mad for a young person, in their prime of life to say, for example, turn down a travel experience to keep their money in the bank. I found an old savings book from when I was I looked at the dates of payments in and withdrawals. I'd paid in £50 every month and withdrew it at the end of every month over and over again 😂 I was young silly and having a lot of fun at that time. At least my heart was in the right place. Years later, of course, I didn't take the money out like ground hog day. So my mad attempt to save was just me making a start. It's often the case that successful financial advisors of today were hopeless with money when younger, by their own admission.
I don’t know about investing - but I know Damien costs me a fortune. Almost every episode I end up buying the guests book on Amazon. Going to buy this one too as I love the history of finance.
Lovely content guys. Thanks for this. I was listening with my phone on my pocket and it did type a bunch of random emojis in a comment. Thought I should replace it with an actual comment. I do appreciate the work you guys are doing. Most people haven’t got a clue of how to prepare financially. Thanks for doing us a service.
Excellent production. I would have a bigger table though, or use a splitscreen instead of that middle shot - feels a bit cramped. Topic and interview great as always 💯
Great informative conversation with a good academic - bring on the critically open society - our financial education really matters - thanks for making this video- podcast.
I think we also need to not underplay the fact that the gamble is a major part of our drive to invest, particularly actively. Plus ultimately, now more that ever, the market will always be ahead of the investor - until it crashes.
J M Keynes was a successful investor; he used common sense. He saw that the demand for electrical applisnces would create a derived demand for coal, so bought coal mine shares at temporarily depressed prices.
Is it just me or is Damo's big blue eyed stare quite intimidating? Speaks so softly and so well with his guests, but the lack of blinking and that stare just seems so opposed to his tone of voice 🤣
How is it going to work when there are huge amounts of people investing. Everybody having workplace pensions nowadays. Surely everybody cant have a big pension fund. Whats the trade off? Everybody cant be rich ? I must be missing something simple.

Damo really does his homework, makes his guests feel at ease and engaged
Thank you so much!
Same as it ever was, nothing new under the sun, no short cut to riches...
Convince a rich person to add you to their will
Or find a sugardaddy
@@investinnnnn Or start saving from when you get your first job and don't stop adding to those savings every month of your life.

First, have some spare cash to invest or an asset that pays for itself. Either way, instant success is unlikely
I truly enjoyed that. Thank you! And also much thanks to Professor Taylor!
Our pleasure - and we will pass on your kind words
Top work, probably my favourite episode so far. Very different and super interesting! Thank you! 🙏

A lot of these apps are marketing at a more gambling approach to the stock market.
Brilliant video / discussion. Cheers.
Another really interesting guest. Good work lads.
Glad you enjoyed it

This is fascinating. Who says history is boring.
There is a lesson here take profit when you have it and if/when the market corrects then put it back in £ cost averaging ++
Yippeee!
Really interesting ep, thanks!

Fascinating. I wonder what will be said about us in 100 years! 😊
