I'm an US Citizen, but Lake of the Woods is a special place to me. I've been going to the Angle for many years, and hope that someday, I'm able to go to the Canadian parts of the lake.
I have been going to Fort St. Charles since the 60's, It is a retreat for Priests. We update the cabins, put and remove the dock and mow the grass.... you did a nice job showing the Fort. Thank you
Thank you for making and providing this video. LOW is certainly a rich and important body of water. I have a new appreciation for the lake I previously thought was uninteresting.
Drive past there daily in the summer on the way past Scotty to our camp - lots of improvements at Stephens over the decades - we had several interactions with campers who canoed to balancing Rock Island, a common destination back in the 60's - 90's but now privately owned - cheers Charles
Haha my cousin hit that reef between the two boat houses!! Also I’m happy that he showed the plaque in Holmstroms marsh. Carl Malmo was my great grandfather and Eric Holmstrom was his father in law. My great great grandfather. It’s so cool to have so much family history on the lake. There’s really no place like it. We have our family island just at the end of welcome channel. Fox island. Carl Malmo was a commercial fisherman on the lake and purchased 5 acres of fox island in the late 30’s or early 40’s for $5,000!! My family remains on the island to this day and many many more to come!!
Very enjoyable watching, and well done. How Sean tolerated the mosquitoes while camping has to be a miracle reserved for those accustomed to the wilderness!
Absolutely loved these films. I have fished and adventured the Morson to Firebag area for decades and can't wait to se more. This was a great help in deciding where I want to go.
Really enjoyed your knowledge of the lake, love all the video from the air. So you know, Pictographs are painted on the rocks and Petroglyphs are carved into the rock.
very well put together vid, history, maps, etc. still blown away that ft st charles has a yankee flag. born st joseph, kenora, been there, didnt know that. and morts is part of the vid, havent seen him in years. well done, i can just wonder what the tourist think, ive seen every place in the vid, and im watching.
It's an amazing waterway, but very intimidating with the obstacles and its magnitude. Wouldn't want my motor to break down, let alone getting lost. Could be a dangerous situation. I wonder how many people actually got lost and thus had a very frightening experience.
I own property in Oregon. Well still paying it off. Few years left for that. But that fort replica, I wanted to do a fence around my property using trees just like how that fort was. Trees all around me so it would only take manpower to do it.
Great video! One thing I should point out though. You refer to the ancient rock art as petroglyph's. They are in fact pictograph's There is a big difference!
Wow this was a great video. You should get back into making these videos. Ever since the covid hit allot of channels like this has been getting allot of subscribers and people actually make allot of money threw RUclips. Give it a try. Be consistent on the uploads for a few months. You will see what I'm talking about is true. Thanks for making such great content like this video.

Thanks - I've been going to the lake annually since birth - 60 years of memories.
This is a really great documentary on one of the most rare and beautiful places on earth.
So well done. Sean Kavanagh is a master storyteller, historian and navigator. His passion is contagious.

Mildly disappointed you didn't go further south towards warroad (my hometown) and muskeg bay but I get why you'd wanna avoid that much open water.
wow that was great!

i live in warroad MN
Caught more 48"-50" Muskie in the big narrows area than anywhere else, by far, bar none.

My people.
Great video, love the history. Help me out though...what boat is he using? I can’t figure it out!
I agree, but I wish he would do a geoaligical survay of our English River,
Harbourcraft
Harbourcraft / Kingfisher -
That lake has more coast line then the Mexican wall. MN has more shoreline then the entire east coast.
So is there a second part to this documentary? I'd be interested in that because that's the side of LOTW I've been to more often then not.
i live in the Minnesota lake of the woods
My Grand Father worked on this line 1800s.
Part 2 soon?

So, why is the American flag at half staff at the fort?
Because the looney left are killing America
So who committed the massacre and why is that left out?
34:48--the Sioux.
