    May I ask why you cut out the point where David realizes it is in Moore? We were watching this live and he kept saying South OKC and then very quickly they realized it was NE 12th in Moore. There is probably 3-4 seconds missing from this video, you can tell when the banner changes to Moore and David starts saying Moore over and over again, even expressing surprise a second time that Moore is being hit again.

    I was in that area
    and it was very scary
    Tornado here and there.
    Turn right then see a tornado
    Turn left saw another one
    In front of my van with my pregnant wife and two daughters 4 and 2.
    6 months later lightning
    Hit my van in new Mexico.
    Worse year for me.

    Many years later, this event still frustrates me. My dad was in one of those cars on 119th St. and there was no tornado warning at the time. I still don't know what took the NWS so long on this one. I feel like this one is also remarkable because it took out our radio towers that managed to stay standing through May 3rd and May 20th.
    So grateful to David Payne for his amazing coverage!

      @@tawnikitari Because the city sets sirens off based on Tornado Warnings which are issued by the National Weather Service. My experience was: "TORNADO IN 12TH STREET IN MOORE ..NE 12TH ST IN MOORE tornado on the ground" said by Dave.... Lights go out in my aunt's house... I yelled out and pointed up "TORNADO" grabbed a pillow and a heavy blanket and went to the closet.... 3 seconds after that out of the west side window of the room I was at I heard a loud gust of wind.... Guess what... THAT WAS THE TORNADO!! 7Minutes later we head outside and saw the damage.. my first(possibly) second tornado experience.... The 2007 Dallas severe storms I think I was either inside a microburst or a tornado... The news never came to my area to do survey

      That was insane. Even got him to tornado emergency. Which of course was an overstatement. But can't say i blame him. It looked like a giant circulation with multiple spin ups- which im sure gets everyone having the same name in mind- El Reno. Always see random comments of people knocking these and other guys for being over amped or dramatic etc. But people just dont know what alot of them have seen. The Moore storm in 99. Then another in same dang spot in 13. THEN El Reno right after. I mean ffs, thats alot to deal with. Then im sure they see places like Tuscaloosa and Hattiesburg and Joplin and they relive the experience again. Thats gotta burn into your brain. Going in your basement and then come out and everything you own and all your neighbors is literally gone. Its just like damn. David was down there ground zero for each of them. I cant even imagine what they saw. And they prob see it and feel it every time they see something like right there. Damn sure will give u chills

      Born and raised OKC, and while I will always respect a tornado having been up close and personal with three of them, the worst part is the build up the local media hits us with for days ahead of actual storms. They love ratings and really pour it on….worst-case scenarios constantly mentioned.

    This setup was supposed to be linear this tornado was a rare one it is studied by NWS to this day

    • @Tigers9596
      @Tigers9596 8 месяцев назад

      This was definitely a weird event. It was a linear squall line, but a mesocyclone formed on the leading edge of the squall line and developed very quickly. These are usually referred to as QLCS tornadoes, but this tornado seemed to have its own mesocyclone as well, being fed by the straight-line winds behind the tornado. So kind of a hybrid QLCS/supercell tornado.
