2016 was such a great year for AJ Styles that this list can be entirely filled with AJ Styles matches and bro. How can you not mention The Miz vs Dolph Ziggler from No Mercy 2016?
Dean Ambrose was WWE’s workhorse from 2015-16. He was at the height of his popularity as the company’s most popular babyface but despite this, WWE made it blatantly clear that they were sticking with their golden boy Roman Reigns who was incredibly unpopular with the audience because of his forced push. His matches with Kevin Owens (Royal Rumble), Triple H (Roadblock), and AJ Styles (Backlash & TLC) at were phenomenal yet nobody ever talks about it which is a shame.
@@darkneon5637 yeah he honestly should’ve been crowned WWE Champion at WrestleMania 32 because I feel like that would’ve been the perfect time to strike when the iron was hot. Sure he would become champion, but it was too little too late by the time he lost the title to AJ slowly fizzled out.
my fav 2016 match would probably be Miz vs Ziggler Title vs Career No Mercy... the sheer emotion in that match i just sooo good.. plus prime heel miz is just the best thing in the match... it defo deserved a menytion here
My favorite year of the 2010s. Smackdown was really good in the second half of that year and NXT was at it’s peak around this time period. AJ Styles, the Miz and Ambrose were doing their best work in WWE in 2016. I know this list focuses mainly on the main roster, but I would include Sami vs Shinsuke from takeover on this list.

This made me realize that AJ Styles had a feud with the company's uppercard titles with all 3 Shield members. Which were all unique. Against Roman for the WWE World Heavyweight Title (pre-Brand Split) Against Dean Ambrose for the WWE Title (post-Brand Split) Against Seth Rollins for the Universal Title and the World Heavyweight Title
2016 was a great year for the Shield guys, esp Dean Ambrose. Easily my fave year of his singles career in WWE, his performance at the Rumble was exceptional! I was also in attendance for that Cena vs Styles match at Summerslam.

AJ Styles was basically the face of WWE in 2016
