The are the voice that re-educated the public as to bluegrass and gave them the personal experience of the honesty and joy in the music. They've had the biggest impact of any group. No one can ever forget their first time hearing them live. John Starling was with them then and it was purely a magical experience. You felt so alive....and so it goes forever.
Linda Fields I do love their music. I've never been lucky enough to see them. They do transport us listeners & I hope it goes on forever. I really appreciate your comment. Thanks for listening & taking the time to leave a comment. Wishing you a Happy New Year. (2015 is just a few hours away). My best to you, Moppet
Bluegrass blues. How great is that? From the masters of Seldom Scene. This version of "House of the Rising Sun/Walk Don't Run" is from their 1993 album, "20th Anniversary Concert". The 2 cd set is broken into the 3 groups over the years up until that time. Enjoy! ALL MEMBERS: JOHN DUFFY JOHN STARLING MIKE AULDRIDGE LOU REID PHIL ROSENTHAL BEN ELDRIDGE T. MICHAEL COLEMAN TOM GRAY This album is broken down into 3 sets of The Seldom Scene: First grouping of the band: John Starling - lead vocals Tom Gray - bass Second grouping: Phil Rosenthal - lead vocals Third grouping: The entire 2nd disc features the 1986-1992 band. Lou Reid - lead vocals T. Michael Coleman - on bass.
This was some of the first bluegrass I ever heard. The first grass to get into my blood. And has been with me since. John Duffy's tenor voice is now my object of aspiration!
Thanks RL for putting this up, always loved the Bluegrass music. Eric Clapton on his accoustic version copied a few old Bluegrass tunes. That music wasn't mucked about with the 440 Hertz it was in 432.💓
@parsonsclubmarket They did a great job with this didn't they? I love their improvisations and their interpretation...also when it goes to straight bluegrass! That is fantastic and the transition is perfect. Thank you for your comment. I do appreciate it greatly. My very best to you, Moppet (Barbara)
Seldom scene est grand.... Mike auldridge nous a quitté avec sa belle voix et son DOBRO Je joue la bluegrass Music en FRANCE Ce sera difficille d'oublier ce grand personnage ....
Meghan Buckley Wishing you luck with that. Hope it is in the far future though. So glad you found this and enjoyed them. Come back anytime. I've been ill and am just now starting to upload again. Hope to put many more on by S S. My best to you, Moppet
Hope that is far far off in the unimaginable future. But it is true that this is music of some heavenly beauty. May you live a long and healthy life so you can continue to enjoy this and so much other wonderful creations of humanity.
@lunchmind Isn't that a great aspect of music? It opens up our world like great literature or art, but for me is much easier to understand and feel on an emotional level. Thank you for your insightful comment and taking the time to leave your message. I appreciate all comments very much! My best to you, Moppet (Barbara)
