Just so you guys know, I base most of my equipment purchases on your testing and recommendations. The latest example is the golf shoes you rated as most comfortable and I absolutely love my new Payntr shoes. Keep up the good work, I tell all of my friends to use your website.
I had a 975D and absolutely loved it. Titleist had that inimitable pear-shape and it sounded sorctacular.
Around that same time I had a pear-shaped Titleist 983E and it was the longest and best overall drivers for me that I have ever owned. I stupidly traded it in for a new club (for about $25) when I thought I needed to go to a 460cc driver and have never found another driver that worked for me as well or was as long and forgiving as that 983E.

It’s kind of funny I went in for a driver fitting
And did not think about the callaway smoke max D at all. I was really thinking ping 10k but Rickie the fitter had me try it out at the end of my fitting for shits a giggles and straight out of the box it was longer and tighter dispersion then the other 2 that I was fitted for in its stock form. I learned from Rick that sometimes your expectations are not always what works for different people and swing types. So I now own my first callaway driver in 16 years 😳smoke D
Great episode. I self fit my driver and ended up with the G430 10K. Great driver. Has excellent length for me and it goes where you aim it.
Putters are unique. I have a putter I always go to when my stroke goes astray. Then I figured, if I go back to this putter why don’t I just use it all the time. So now I’m using my 2005 Cobra IM-01
Dead right, not all mallets are the same. Years ago went to a Ping Ketch, straight swing version, around when it was the most wanted. Putting went to the dogs, was like I never held a club before. Went back to my old Odyssey Rossie, totally different world.
Hot topic…new “max” drivers and materials meant for warm weather. Haven’t found any of the new stuff capable of same solid numbers in the winter. Doesn’t bode well for winter golfers in the Pacific Northwest where we play as many months in 35-40 deg weather as we do summer. Save maybe the ping. You expect distance losses in the cold but as much as the new materials drop
What would be a winter / cold weather driver material?

The site pretty much sums up how I feel about my new triple diamond ai smoke. It’s long and it’s forgiving and super happy it’s what I went with.

Driver Qi10 black 9* set to 9.75*, Taylor Made Mini Driver 13.5* replaced the 3 wood and when windy used with the wind and in tight courses.
I play a G425 Max, Love it, but was eyeing the 10k, to possibly lower spin a bit without sacrificing forgiveness. I had a test fitting before the 10k came out, hit the 430 Max, to okay results. Pretty comparable to my current driver. This test though, seeing some of the results that the launch conditions are actually a bit better (with the similar G430 max) for my needs ("slightly" lower spin for the G430 max vs 10k, and minimal distance gains/differences), makes me a bit more confident to just save the money this season, stick with mine, and get lessons if I need more changes. THANK YOU.
I'm same.. 425 max. best driver I ever had...Didn't think it was worth going to 430 max which was slightly better but looking forward to getting a 430 10k max fitting

I really wish more of these “forgiving” drivers had lower lofted options. I’m still stuck on my OG Sim 8 degree set to 6 degrees but would love to try some of the newer stuff from Ping, Titleist, etc.

Guessed Most wanted right. Kinda thought Cobra DarkSpeed LS would be longest. Smoke AI D wasn't on my radar. Still sticking with my TSi3 for now 🤙
Cobra ls just isn't great for the average golfer. It's an amazing driver for those with higher swing speeds.
I averaged about 250 yds total driving last year with a TD 8 degree. 😂 It just worked until temps dropped. Ordered a Ping 10K a week ago, can't wait to loft down and try for 255 this season.😅

Take a Ping 10k and cut 3 inches off the shaft. Then add 25 grams of lead tape anywhere you want it and make it a 12k fairway finder.
If pros dont go much over a 45 inch shaft. What makes antine think the restof us can ? ? ?
Just picked up a PING LST and putting a Red Ventus in it.
TSR3 with a Ventus Red 5S tipped is a clear winner for me. I hit everything from all the major OEM's. The TSR3 is the perfect combo of playability and distance for me. I have a GD XC-5 that works really well in it as well.
Can’t wait to pick up a TSR3 in the future
Playing a 9degree TSR4 with a Tensei 1k blue 65g in x-stiff. Best combo for me ever! Long and definitely hitting more fairways than ever and my misses aren't off the planet
8 hcp here, had QI 10, TSR3 and AI SMOKE………. QI no, TSR3, iffy……AI SMOKE is in the bag ⛳️
Mini driver 13.5 (2 wood) is amazing - I’d be surprised if other brands don’t follow. 5 woods go miles now so rarely have to use this 3w slot in the bag for approach shots - Find it great off the deck so something a tad smaller / more refined from Titleist would be great
Agree. Players usually also only want to hit their driver with one shape. A mini-driver is an option that you can turn over more and have a different shape.
Hey guys great show as usual Yall keep saying that the Kirkland ball is the first ball ever spinny , not made well etc. Why does it score so high in your ball labs 89, 84 over other balls that you say are better like Pxg, or callaway super soft etc. Is Kirkland ball better than the Kirkland or are then the same

Speaking of Ian,Cobra Darkspeed LS won the driver challenge. Just edging out the Black Ops T. Matt Blois driver reviews, longest and highest ball speed the Cobra Darkspeed LS.
Yep, individual results will vary, particularly when you can dial everything in....And this isn't a slight to Ian or Matt or any individual, but unless that person has your same swing dynamics (they don't), a data set of "1" isn't particularly informative for the masses.
Funny story, I did a driver fitting last year. I hit all of them with an over draw, and the fitter told me he couldn't recommend any of the drivers. So hard to hit a new club when you're used to your old gamer.
the Max 10K was my prediction for best driver, but...I actually bought the 'plain ole "G430 Max because I wanted the adjustable back weight. I think it's an almost equivalent performer. In all fairness, how many angels can dance on the end of a pin? The 10 K and the Max are VERY similar. Does 10 K matter ?
Does 10K matter? It's a great question. And the answer is, "Well, maybe..." When we first started digging into the Max 10K, my first thought was whether this made the standard G430 Max no longer relevant. If you're 100% dialed into the standard Max, I personally wouldn't spend the $$$ for the 10K. That said, they are two different models, with plenty of similarities and my hunch is that the majority of golfers who narrow down a search to 10K and Max will end up with the 10K

I spent 4 hours trying out putters and kept going back to the Ping Mallet. I can line it up so much easier…
I stopped at the SIM2 and not looking to play their carbon faced drivers, so I hope TM goes back to what they were doing pre-Stealth.
Based on everything that we've heard, TM is all in on Carbon, so play that SIM2 as long as you can!
Would drive to Toronto in a second to get fit by Ian Frazer but his rate vs all the other club champion guys is insane, only one percenters can afford him.

Black Ops was Real Good and Very Fast
I hit the R15 with the stock Speeder 57 (with the two weights in the middle) or whatever it was, better than any driver ever. And it was a turd (unless you are Jason Day, who never hit it better). Drivers are so weird.

Early comment on the first topic. Statistics need context guys. If Scotty is hitting his approach shot to 10 feet, he's not putting from the easiest place. It's probably downhill and breaks excessively. The other players miss the green, chip to 10 feet and have left the ball below the hole and as straight a putt as possible. Scotty misses for birdie and the others hole out for par. Statistics place Scotty as a crap putter. Context guys please
Yep, to clarify we're citing strokes-gained stats which is the benchmark for these sorts of comparisons.
Why is it so hard to find your list of top drivers? With the information that you speak about?
Some or later, ego will have to be set aside and these guys will have to use the best club for the job. And that is not a blade putter. Someone struggling as much as SS, should have switched years ago.
